Our son recently moved into Clarence House and from the outset the communication, understanding of his needs and formulation of his care plan has been excellent.
We cannot fault the care he has received from admission through the ongoing assessment of his needs and provision of the appropriate care
.
Every single member of staff has been kind, friendly and welcoming.
The leadership team are approachable and flexible whilst always making safety an absolute priority .
It is a huge relief for us as parents to feel our son is finally safe and leading a far more fulfilling life than he has done for years .

Our family is continually reassured by the excellent level of care of our sister. The level of understanding and response to our sister's care needs as she ages, brings us considerable comfort.
We are most grateful to all the staff and manager.

My brother resides at Clarence House in Horncastle, he has his own little flat that he loves, he gets very well looked after by all staff, meals are all cooked, he enjoys the food he has help with his washing and cleaning his flat, by his one to one. All residents get taken out on trips and holidays.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and are caring also they are discrete when needed. I have to say a big, big thank you to the manager and all of her staff as I have no worries about my brother's care.

Due to the restrictions during the pandemic, my daughter was unable to leave her residence. This has had a knock-on effect on her weight, mobility and well-being. When I voiced my concern the manager suggested having some one-to-one hours to support my daughter to be more active. She has been walking
around the local area with staff and has just been referred by the doctor for a 12-week course at the gym. This will cover fitness, diet and well-being. Helping my daughter in the long term.

Clarence House & Granary Care Home in Horncastle is such a wonderful home for the residents. Whenever I have visited in the past few years (I live abroad) I can feel the warm atmosphere, the homeliness and the kindness of everyone is immediate. The manager and all the carers do everything they can to
help their residents, make them feel safe and loved and alive. This is an extraordinary achievement, particularly throughout the Corona times. Whenever I ring I can always talk to someone who will help me with any questions I may have. When my stepson had to go to hospital in the summer, it felt like one of their children were in hospital, their care, kindness, attention and presence were remarkable. The manager has created a unique home, she is a very gifted and creative leader, organizer, manager and carer. Everyone working there who I have encountered is a gem, both highly personal and professional and I would like to thank everyone.

My daughter has only been at Clarence House & Granary Care Home since December 2021. I have been very pleased with the way she has settled in and I think this is down to the home manager and staff. She is always cheerful and happy whenever I phone her. If I have a concern I feel that I can always phone
the home and speak to either the home manager or my daughter's key worker and if they are not available another member of the staff will deal with the problem. My daughter always speaks favourably regarding meals and if there is something she does not like she is offered an alternative. Regarding the activities side, there does appear to be quite a lot arranged for the resident whether indoors or out, e.g. cinema or shopping, which I do hope continues as I do feel this is very important.
Regarding decorating etc., I know there is a rolling programme and my daughter's room has just been decorated. However, I do feel that the outside of the home does need attention sometime soon as this is looking in a poor state of repair. Overall, Clarence House is excellent.

My son moved here in September. The staff are wonderful, very enabling, nothing is too much for my son. He has made loads of new friends and has settled really well. He loves going on days out and getaway club. He is a very cheeky, happy, cheerful person. I couldn't want more from a residential home
than what he is already getting. I can't praise the staff enough for their generosity and making us happy knowing that my son is happy and safe and well looked after.

My brother has been based at Clarence House as a resident for a number of years and is happy and well adjusted. There are a number of activities organised, which keep him occupied, active and engaged. The staff are extremely caring and professional. He has Down's Syndrome and his needs are well catered
for.

If all care home managers could visit Clarence House and see how the residents are cared for and managed and then adapted Clarence House scenario, there would be no complaints about care homes ever again. It's a wonderful feeling to know my brother is so well cared for especially living so far away.
The manager and staff both past and present deserve to be recognised for their caring and thoughtfulness. In my eyes, these people are unsung heroes and I hope they can be recognised as such.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.093)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.093) out of 10 for Clarence House & Granary is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.593 for Clarence House & Granary is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.593
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clarence House & Granary is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
