River Meadows

from L G (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 June 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum moved into River Meadows after her previous care home were unable to meet her needs. From initial telephone conversation to discuss Mum's needs and subsequent visits to view we as a family felt that Mum would be moving into a kind, caring environment where staff really cared about the residents.
From
day one Mum has been cared for with kindness and when Mum was presenting challenging behaviours due to her Alzheimer's, strategies have been put into place to help Mum overcome these behaviours.
Mum's general health and well-being have improved dramatically and staff are quick to notify the frailty nurse/GP should they feel Mum's medication needs to be reviewed.
Mum's room and the communal areas are extremely clean with staff constantly cleaning where and when needed.
Food is varied and appealing and Mum is enjoying the variety of meals on offer, initally she was not eating so staff were preparing a separate meal that she would eat.
All staff appear to really enjoy their jobs which benefits the residents as their positivity shines through in the care that they give.

My dad has settled in lovely and is sleeping so well. The food's great too! The staff here have been amazing, so kind and helpful, not only to my dad but to me. I feel so happy to know my dad is being very well taken care of. Dad has already made friends with lots of the residents. Mentally, he continues
to improve. Management is a credit to the home. She has gone above and beyond and makes sure my dad is happy.

Birch Green Care Home

from Emma T (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum always made it clear that she never wanted to live in a care home, however the time came when it was impossible for her to stay in her own home safely. My Mum has been at Birch Green for a couple of months now and I have seen her become more mobile, eating well, in a daily routine, well cared
for, joining in with social activities, smiling and laughing with new friends. None of this was possible in her own home, where her world had become a small and frightening place. Having chatted to the staff, I find everyone very approachable and professional. My anxiety levels have come right down knowing she is in Birch Green and I am pleased she is comfortable and well-cared for. I thought I would see this as 'end of life', but visiting my Mum in Birch Green and seeing the social posts, my perspective has changed and I now see this as 'a new stage of life' to be savoured.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father was a resident from August 2023 until his death in April 2026. Although initially not happy about needing residential care, he soon settled in, began to interact with other residents and formed a rapport with the staff. I was always impressed with the care and kindness of the staff. Several
carers said my father was a popular resident, they enjoyed caring for him and they showed great compassion during his final days.

Outstanding service with very friendly staff. MJ, Karen, and Helen have all been amazing - I don't know everyone else's names yet, but all the staff are lovely and make the place feel very personal and homely. They are great with the residents, and everyone always seems happy, singing along and enjoying
themselves.

I was nervous when my grandad first went in for his short stay, but seeing how happy and settled he is has been very reassuring.

The staff that cared for my mother during her 15 months at Charnwood Oaks were wonderful. From the first day she was made to feel welcome & treated with respect & kindness. From entering the home, you can see how clean & well kept it is, many of her relatives commented abut this. My mum loved the wide
variety of food that was served & enjoyed the lovely restaurant. She was kept happy & motivated by the amazing entertainment staff who work so hard to keep all the residents active & happy. My mum made lots of new friends during her stay & we will always be so grateful to all concerned.

Mum was in for 2 weeks before she sadly passed away. We could not fault the care shown to her and us, especially in her last 24 hours, when all the staff there really looked after us. Two suggestions we would make would be:
1) Giving consistent information, we found that we got told different facts
across the shifts.
2) In the last intense hours, listen to the family more; perhaps usual nursing routines are not so important.

Although mother-in-law could be difficult at times, requiring two or more staff constantly, she was treated with dignity and good humour, with some members of staff going out of their way to keep her happy. We have felt that Mill House staff have cared for her extremely well and always kept us informed
of any changes.

I find the staff very very helpful as my brother can be quite challenging! But they work around is various modes! The staff have now got my brother onto a help the community scheme! That I am sure he really enjoys! This then gives him a purpose and he not bored sitting in his room causing mischief.
Thank you very much.

My sister attends Clarence house several weeks a year for respite care, she really enjoys her stays, they do lots of activities and do some amazing outings, she really feels it's home from home !!
For me, I go away knowing that my sister is truly cared for and her needs are met unconditionally,
the staff and management are very welcoming and truly demonstrate passion and care to the residents and it has the "home from home feel" ..
recommend 100%
