Review of

Springhill Care Home

from N C (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our mum went into Springhill Nursing Home for end of life care. From the first moment we walked through the door, the staff were welcoming, friendly and professional.
Our dad was quickly put at ease when he went to look around, and the application process for a room was managed seamlessly.
When our
mum was moved into Springhill from the hospice, the nursing staff very quickly re-assessed her needs and contacted the relevant services to ensure she received the equipment needed to keep her comfortable and cared for.
All of the staff were wonderful. The room our mum stayed in was cleaned regularly, the food was excellent and the care and dignity offered to her throughout her short stay at the home was second to none.
Although her participation in activities was limited, the staff went out of their way to make sure she was attended to by the hairdresser that comes every week, and her nails were painted by the beautician.
They offered the same care to our dad who visited every day.
Reply from Deborah Bennett, Manager at Springhill Care Home

Charnwood Oaks

from M W (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
At a very stressful time, the care staff were both patient and understanding. Nothing was too much to ask. However there were times when the shortage of staff had an impact on everyone, including my mother.
I would say that the nursing home was shabby and lacklustre with blinds at windows broken and
storage facilities again shabby. Cleanliness could be improved, as could safety for residents, as several times another person entered my Mother's room and went to sleep in a chair or stood and looked at her. Also a number of times the call button didn't work or was not answered, causing my mother to feel some concern in the evenings.
Reply from diane Smith, Director at Charnwood Oaks

On behalf of the home and company, could I please offer my apologies that standards fell below the expected standards and that your family endured undue distress as a result. I will ask my team to review your concerns to ensure that we learn from any errors we may have made and to ensure that other families do not have the same experience.Thank you for taking the time to complete this review.

My daughter has recently become a resident at Little Acres Care Home.
As she suffers from Autism and PDA, she has complex needs and I am delighted with the caring attitude of the staff and the relaxed, homely atmosphere of the home.
I feel reassured that my daughter is already settled and having the
best care from kindly staff who have had training in her condition.

Clarence House & Granary

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our son recently moved into Clarence House and from the outset the communication, understanding of his needs and formulation of his care plan has been excellent.
We cannot fault the care he has received from admission through the ongoing assessment of his needs and provision of the appropriate care
.
Every single member of staff has been kind, friendly and welcoming.
The leadership team are approachable and flexible whilst always making safety an absolute priority .
It is a huge relief for us as parents to feel our son is finally safe and leading a far more fulfilling life than he has done for years .

My uncle himself reported the carers at Charnwood Oaks as being wonderful to him. As a family we have been very grateful for the kindness, understanding, caring and patience given to my uncle throughout his stay as well as the high level of professional standard of care he received. Many thanks from
all of us.

My Dad was admitted to Barons Park for palliative care. At this difficult time I could not have wished for a better nursing home. The staff were exceptional in caring for my Dad and our family. Nothing was too much trouble and I am so grateful to all of the staff for being there for us all.
Keep up
the good work guys. Missing our chats and the cup cakes xx

My husband was admitted to Peaker Park after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. The care he received at Peaker Park was good, but I had to point out to staff that he was no longer able to feed himself and at times I felt they were short staffed.
The staff were very friendly and supportive of my husband
and my self. Very good laundry service he always had clean t shirts always ironed which would have been important to him.
He had a lovely room, sunny and bright with a view of the garden. Everything was spotlessly clean.
I think the quality and standard of food could be improved.

The are home is a lovely environment for residents and carers. Mum and dad had lovely downstairs rooms near each other. The staff kept them very comfortable. My mum needed a lot of personal care after her strokes. She needed multiple staff to use a hoist to dress her, toilet her and clean her. They
played music and games with her and encouraged her to sing. They were loving and friendly and respected her dignity.

When mum first came to Brockshill Woodlands almost a year ago, I was worried about her settling in okay. There was no need, after a few days she was made to feel so at home with the fantastic care she received. The staff are all so friendly, patient and caring, nothing is too much trouble. All residents
are treated with such dignity and respect, whilst I feel Health + Safety is always a priority. It's like a happy family and I'm glad we're part of it.
Keep up the good work, you are all amazing!!!

Little Acres is a haven for our relative after struggling in her previous placement.
The manager and her strong team are deserving of high praise.
The care, kindness and professionalism with which they treat residents is truly inspiring and after only a week in their care the improvement for our much
loved family member is already wonderful to see.
Little Acres thankyou from the bottom of our hearts.

Phoenix Park Care Village

My Dad was admitted here after hospital and a short stay in another setting (who were brilliant thank you)
The level of care he received in Hill Top was appalling we raised concerns with the manager and clinical lead held meetings with them to try and improve his care but it never improved.
Asking
simple questions about his weight loss and told that he had not been weighed so when we requested assisted feeding to increase his nutrition we we promised this would happen but I saw for myself this never happened.
As a family we understood this was never going to be a "home from home" environment and Dad brought some challenges most times he was a polite person, unfortunately he was not given any dignity or help not because of his condition but because the mangers chose not to provide this some of the staff were brilliant.
If you are reading reviews like I did 6 months ago please don't put anyone you love here.

I am so sorry that our care fell well below our expectations and that of your family. I am grateful to you for raising these concerns and will immediately initiate an investigation into your concerns so that no other family has to suffer this level of distress.

Overall, this was a clean, spacious, well-laid-out care home. In particular, the day staff and medical staff were kind and treated residents with care and dignity. I think the variety of care needs can be overwhelming for the staff at times, and the night staff need improvement.

Fantastic, very caring environment, great facilities and staff that are on the ground. Seen an improvement in my Dads routine, he has more life to him now than when he was at home. Very well run and organised care home and that is a credit the care home manager, who is a very emotionally intelligent
leader, that has made a positive difference to the overall experience of the whole care home.
