Review of

Stoneygate Oaklands

from Emma C (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 May 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My dad has been much happier and settled since moving into Oakland's. He was struggling to look after himself and his home in the community. He is now managing much better with his personal health, hygiene and keeping his room tidy.
If anything could be improved it would be the clothes washing system
a lot of clothes do go missing even when labelled and the laundry room does look quite chaotic.
Other than that the current staff are pleasant and helpful and do a good/ at times difficult job that is not as well recognised as it should be!

Southfield House is always clean, comfortable and feels like home for my mum. The staff always make is feel welcome and I can see the positive impact on my mum. She is more relaxed, engaged and content than she was before moving in and that means I everything to me. Residents are treated with kindness,
patience and respect. They have a range of activities and organise occasional outings to keep mum engaged and social, it's lovely to see her smile and occasionally taking part.

The care team were very good, and they looked after my mum well; the rooms were clean and the food was good, but as far as the activities, I think were poor, because I can't see the point in doing trivia questions when a lot of the resident's have dementia, and there are other songs to listen to instead
of a famous singer all the time. You could have 1940's day, I am sure they know those songs, or songs from a popular movie and some of the old musicals, just something different.

Springhill Care Home

Staff at Springhill have, and always been respectful to my dad who has been a resident now for going on two years- he arrived with dementia with challenging behaviours (but has deteriorated/calmed now) they show dignity and respect at all times- they have got to know him and his ways making his care
very person centered the staff have consistently reassured him to a point that he calls it home (this means to much, considering he was always wanting to leave) this is comforting as a family member.

I looked at several homes before my husband became a resident. This one was the only one I found with sufficient carers and with room to roam around safely. In my opinion what is important to people suffering from dementia is not grand surroundings but gentle, kind, understanding carers, which Cottesmore
Lodge has in abundance.

I visit the service on a regular basis. On every occasion I have been met by knowledgeable and supportive staff. Staff are always going the extra mile for their service users. I am kept fully up to date with my clients needs and support. Staff are always available if needed. I would recommend any of
my service users to be placed here.

I would sincerely like to thank Charnwood Oaks care home. lNothing was too much trouble for the staff looking after my wife, and they always treated her with compassion and dignity.
Although she had Alzheimer's, she was able to connect with staff and have a smile and a chuckle.
Staff were caring and
considerate and always updated me as to how my wife had been getting on. They were able to find food that she enjoyed eating and which suited her changing needs.
The home was clean and staff were efficient and kind, alway asking about my wellbeing too.
I am grateful that my wife seemed happy there and that the whole family were well informed and could be there at the end of her time.
I was very happy with all aspects of the care she received.
