Excellent all round
Staff and management do everything to accommodate both service users and friends and family. There is always someone on hand to answer all your questions, and have always got the time to assist the service users .
My son is there in rest bit and has come on leaps and bounds and
is very settled and calm. I would not hesitate in recommend The Mount to everyone.

Our son moved into The Mount in July of 2024 after living in a previous care home for 12 years. What a difference and wonderfully so, supportive, kind and good honest care to all of their residents, this we have witnessed. The staff are happy in their work often singing and interacting in a normal family
style, in fact our son states without hesitation - "They're fantastic, and they're my family, yes I love it here, it's brilliant". We are both very observant and keen to see fair and kind handling, including retaining privacy and dignity for all, we've been pleasantly surprised and feel so relieved, to find a genuinely well-managed care home. They really do care.

There is a positive and welcoming environment at the care home. Communal areas are clean, and I see staff engaging with residents in a positive manner each time I visit. Communication is good between the care home and the family. Our family member is happy living here and very much feels part of an
extended family. Staff have worked hard to understand our family member as an individual to allow them to support appropriately.

Staff are very welcoming - keeping us informed of any issues - home is always clean and tidy when we visit. Not scored value for money as unsure of any costings. Activities - scored only satisfactory purely because our granddaughter probably could do more but understand that she is more high functioning
and more capable than some of the other residents. This provides a safe place for our granddaughter but would like to see them offering her more life skills if that is possible.

We (parents) are very happy with the care our daughter receives. She is treated with dignity and respect, and we, as parents, have a very good relationship with the staff. We are always included in meetings and the decision-making process. We feel strongly that our views and our daughters are listened
to and taken into account. The home is always welcoming, and there is a "happy buzz and atmosphere".

My sister-in-law seems to be well cared for and staff are helpful and patient with her to fulfil her needs.
They are very good at keeping me informed of any changes that occur as regards to her health and well being.
They are kind and considerate when they have an outing from the home to Scarborough.
They will bring my sister-in-law to anywhere plus a carer so we can have lunch together and time for a chat which I appreciate.

I am the service users mum and am not there to overview the service. My son has a very limited vocabulary and we're not able to communicate too well but my son looks forward to his respite days. The staff are very welcoming on arrival and my son enjoys his activities. He has lots of trips and has good
food. My son is very happy to go and looks forward to his next visit.

My brother came to The Mount for respite in March 2017 he has severe learning difficulties and is profoundly deaf. I have seen my brother thrive at The Mount after his most traumatic experience of being burgled.
He is now interested when promoted to consider his own personal hygiene which he had seriously
neglected whilst living semi-independently. The staff at The Mount have been so supportive in all of my brother's needs and he is very happy being there. The staff are incredibly professional and so caring and approachable there is a constant comfortable atmosphere at The Mount is really a true home.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.925)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.925) out of 10 for The Mount is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.886 for The Mount is calculated as follows: ( (31 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.886
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.039 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Mount is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.8 = 0.789
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
