My friend resided at K Lodge for a respite period and we were really pleased with the experience. The staff were very friendly and caring and always had a smile on their face.
We were always kept up to date with changes. I saw their newsletter and looks really good and it was lovely to see what is
happening in the home.
My friend made friends in the short period of time and settled in very well.
Overall we were happy with the service.

To the manager and your wonderful team at K Lodge. Thank you all so much for the wonderful care and support you give to my mum who has been with you for about a year and a half. It’s so comforting and heartwarming knowing that she is happy and so well looked after. It’s so good to know that I can rely
on you (thank you to a member of staff in particular) to let me know when mum has needed medical intervention. I also appreciate how welcome you make me feel when I phone or visit - this means such a lot and it’s so nice to get to know you all, see the bond that you all have with mum and how happy that makes her. Have to add a special shout-out to the Activity Coordinator, who I’ve spoken to many times, who arranges the fun activities and keeps us, the relatives, up to speed with fab photos included in the monthly newsletter. And to the member of staff, who, when I visit has helped me to resist the temptation to hug my mum during this awful COVID time - I love that you have hugged her and cared for her so well. So, thank you so much.
Reply from Claude Fonseka, Owner at K LodgeThank you very much Barbara for the wonderful review which clearly reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff team and the management at K Lodge.

When my brother had to go into residential care, he found it very difficult to adapt. It was also very hard for the staff but with the patience, kindness and compassion he finally settled in and he is now very happy. When my husband and I visit, we are always made very welcome and I am always updated
on any issues, care or health-wise at once.
I have no concerns at all about the care and affection with which my brother is treated.

Finding K Lodge has been an absolute Godsend for my family. My mum is cared for better than I could have imagined. She is treated with kindness and dignity. Staff really know and understand her and notice if she is 'out of sorts'. They are proactive in giving her the best life possible with the condition
she has (Advanced Alzheimer's disease). I am so grateful to all the staff.
When on duty they never huddle and chit chat together, they work so well as a team and are so attentive to the needs of residents. They are proactive with seeking medical help whenever needed and I have real peace of mind with her in their care. When a friend went to visit my mum at the weekend she commented to me about the 'genuine care and affection' staff showed towards my mum. The home is well managed and even quite young new staff seem to me to have received training that equips them well in dealing with sometimes very difficult and sensitive situations. It is a clean and pleasant environment.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.597)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.597) out of 10 for K Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.972 for K Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.972
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for K Lodge is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.375
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
