Rathgar is a warm and welcoming home for the elderly, situated three miles from the centre of Northampton. Their philosophy of care is to provide residents with a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort are of prime importance.

Jane Borland is an award-winning manager who runs Rathgar. Jane has a forward-thinking and innovative philosophy with the residents' best interests at the forefront of the care that is provided. This philosophy resonates to the whole team to provide the best possible care.

The warm and friendly staff strive to ensure that each resident feels comfortable. The emphasis is on making the home their home, creating an atmosphere with all the security and comfort that can be provided by dedicated caring staff.

As a family, we cannot fault Rathgar Home, the staff and management are so good to people both residents and visitors. The home is the best we have seen.


The food is 1st class and the staff and management do all they can to make sure the residents have the meals they need.


I have never been into

a cleaner care home, the rooms are very clean and the home always smells clean.

The staff at Rathgar appear to be very kind and caring towards my friend.


She appears to have a new lease of life since moving into the home and this is thanks to the wonderful care she is receiving. It's so comforting to know that she is safe.

My Mum was a resident at Rathgar for almost 3 years until she passed away on October 15th this year. During her stay, Mum was treated with dignity and respect and part of the Rathgar 'family'. The staff and owner of the care home cannot be faulted. Mum was safe, secure and well looked after.

note was the superb end of life care we received for Mum. I cannot overemphasise the wonderful care and support we received at the end of Mum's life. I am so thankful Mum found a place at Rathgar and would highly recommend the Home.

Uncles health is not good and the level of care and attention to him and his condition has been superb from the top down. All the staff have smiles on their faces and his wife (unfortunately hospitalised herself over the past 6 weeks) is so very grateful that he is being looked after so well, especially
as she cannot visit currently. The home has even offered to try to set up a video call so that they can at least see/talk to each other when she gets home, as it is unlikely that she will be able to visit straight away, that is over and above the expected.

Mum has been at Rathgar for 5 years and since the new owners here took over it has been a lot better eg new furniture, new carpets, regular entertainment. All the staff that have been at the home a few years are very good with the residents and there are some good, caring new staff. Sometimes teatime
food can be poor, but overall, good.

The home is clean and the staff are always helpful and friendly. The home is well run and has an efficient manager.
The staff look after our relative like they would their own family members.

Faced with 48 hours to find residential care and a seemingly endless round of fruitless phone calls. I found Rathgar, then just under new ownership. I live too far away to visit frequently but have been reassured by the attention of the devoted personnel, the newly refurbished domestic surroundings
and professional care in place. I can trust in the staff and believe that I have chosen a great place with a homely, compassionate atmosphere and a creative quality of living. Here my godmother can spend the rest of her time safely in the locality of her friends where she has lived for many years.

The care provided is excellent. Staff are warm and caring, professional and approachable. They interact appropriately and well with residents and respond quickly to their needs. The home is small but very homely and clean. Rooms are adequately decorated and furnished but maybe a bit on the small side.
My mother enjoys the home-cooked food and tells me it is good.

Good quality care home. Friendly staff and the owner is very approachable and cares about his residents. It's a homely feeling as you walk through the doors. Decor and garden areas are lovely. Food is of a very good standard. The main reason we chose Rathgar is because the staff are excellent, some
staff have been at Rathgar a number of years which speaks for itself. Very happy with all they do there for my mum.
