Alderwood prides itself on the care and attention given to residents and their families. Carers concentrate on getting to know you and your loved one, enabling us to look after physical needs and more importantly delivering what emotional support you and your family need.

The team accept that choosing a care home is one of the most difficult decisions a family member or advocate can make and are here to help you through that decision, through the move in and beyond.

Excellent care is the key objective of each of the team members. Caring for those who can no longer look after themselves is what they do best, with an approach that takes into account that although there will be aspects of daily care and activity that residents could not manage at home, carers continue to encourage independence wherever possible - thus enabling residents to make the most of what they can do on a daily basis.

Freshly-cooked food allows the home to pursue sound nutrition and pleasant surroundings make Alderwood a satisfying residence in which to spend a retirement.

Carers support an active lifestyle alongside professional care part of their core mission, endeavouring to ensure that both residents and visitors enjoy their time spent at the home. Has all of the usual benefits of a care home, including en suite rooms, excellent communal spaces and areas for residents to enjoy quiet times.

Also offers excellent activities at the home, which offer stimulation and engagement to all residents. An activities co-ordinator works with individuals to ensure that they offer activities that will suit each person and sometimes this means that one to one activity is more appropriate than group activities.

To place a much loved Mum into residential care is a huge responsibility and tremendously difficult. Despite this, the staff at Alderwood have given Mum a significant amount of support over the past year to settle into a new environment and regularly go above and beyond their duties to provide a kind,
caring and stimulating environment. To manage residents who have a significant degree of Dementia requires patience and a person-centred approach, all of which we have found at Alderwood. The activities on offer are varied and bring much joy to many residents. Staff working in all areas of the home, work towards making this a pleasant and welcoming environment. As an individual registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, I value and much appreciate the care and support provided at Alderwood.

I was very nervous about having my dad placed into respite but due to certain circumstances, my dad needed somewhere to stay short-term. You hear horror stories about care homes and I can honestly say as soon as he arrived I felt in my heart that he was in safe hands, my dad is not easily pleased by
far and he can't wait for his next stay to say the least. He was a 'pampered pooch' when I came to pick him up. Throughout his stay, I received regular updates from staff and I know for sure me and my dad will have plenty of support from this service anytime and we will look forward to seeing them again soon.

The word care in care-home describes this place to a tee. My mother has been a resident for several years now and I can't recommend this place enough (I would move in myself if I could), the carers do what it says on the tin, they care. Every time I visit I'm greeted by warm smiles from both the care
staff and also the residents. The residents welcoming smiles show that they are happy and that's a priceless recommendation in its self. I have witnessed residents being upset for whatever reason, but there is always a care worker on hand to give that reassuring cuddle when needed.
The activities that are on offer put my own social life to shame with regular trips and activities always on the table. The food is both tasty and nutritious, and having just shared the Christmas dinner with them can confirm it's as good, if not better than some restaurants I have eaten at. My mother is 100 years young Christmas Eve and the effort put in to make the day special is above what I expected.

We are so happy we picked Alderwood for my mum. She is so happy there. The staff are fantastic, so good and caring. The home itself is lovely. The rooms are really nice. Couldn't have picked a better place. Would definitely recommend it.

The home is beautiful, in lovely surroundings, and the rooms are really pleasant. Everywhere is kept to a high standard of decoration and cleanliness. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and they all make efforts to converse with the residents. There are activities planned to stimulate residents
and the standard of care is exceptional. The dining room is beautiful, with a lovely atmosphere and the food is well presented, well cooked and apparently 'delicious'. Top marks to Alderwood!

My relative has been here for two weeks but has settled well and been made to feel welcome and valued. When we visit, the staff are very friendly and seem happy working to support the residents. His care is being met well.

My Dad has now been at Alderwood Rest Home for approximately 4 months now. Thanks to all the care staff and all staff members he has settled in now and is happy. He lost his wife of 46 years in September 2018 and has prostate and bone cancer. All the staff, from the manager downwards have been fantastic
and caring. I have worked in nursing for 27 years myself as a health care professional. I viewed many care home but knew straight away Alderwood was the right one. The manager is exceptional, and so are all the staff. Overall excellent care home.

I cannot praise the staff highly enough, they are all friendly and helpful.


They have treated my mother exceptionally well in the time she has been here. My mother had her 100th birthday on the 22nd March 2018 and the carers and staff organised a lovely birthday party for her and the residents along

with all of mum's family. Everyone had a brilliant day thanks to the staff at Alderwood Care Home.

My wonderful mum passed away here yesterday after a debilitating illness. The care she received following her return from the hospital was second to none. Everyone involved treated her with the dignity and kindness she deserved even moving her bed to the window so she could look at the trees. I am so
grateful that she got to spend her final days here rather than in hospital and would like to thank everyone concerned for making this possible. Once again thank you all. x

Mum first arrived at Alderwood in 2014. The staff were very welcoming and gave much-needed reassurance to both mum and relatives. Her physical condition has improved greatly since being at Alderwood due to the good care she is receiving. She is happy that everyone knows her and enjoys the food which
is tasty and well presented. The staff are thoughtful, caring and hard working and involve mum in making decisions about her care where possible. The staff treat mum with respect and consideration and are equally thoughtful when dealing with family members. The home is purpose built and is well maintained. It is a warm, comfortable and welcoming place. I am happy that mum is in a safe, healthy and caring environment.

During my 10-month stay at Alderwood, I was looked after with the utmost care and attention. All the staff were caring and conscientious and treated me with dignity and respect. The food was good and I always enjoyed my meals. In January a new manager was appointed and I feel that Alderwood was now
in safe hands.

Alderwood has to be one of the best care homes. My mother was in a poor state of health when she went there and with the excellent quality of care she received from all the staff she very quickly improved. Staff treat all residents with dignity and care as if they are their own family. Nothing is too
much trouble and they are always courteous to family members. There are no specific times to visit which is always a good sign as family can visit at anytime. I cannot recommend Alderwood more highly. It is a super place.
