My mother is requiring more care and attention as she is bed bound. Now she is requiring more care including washing her in bed once a week.

Her wishes are being taken into consideration and the lovely way the staff interact with her is so kind and compassionate.

My mum was a resident at Trepassey for five and half years, following the death of my father. She was already diagnosed with alzheimer's/dementia but was able to join in the numerous daily activities available to residents. The care she received was excellent, the home is beautifully maintained and the decor bright and modern. The staff are a relatively young team throughout, kind and thoughtful , good humoured and we as a family saw them as friends. They kept us informed all the time as and when issues developed, and reported promptly when matters required intervention. Mums room was kept spotless and her laundry always kept clean and well managed. The food is very good and plentiful. Sadly mums needs had become more challenging since Christmas and it was mutually agreed that more specialist dementia care was required, and this has now recently been successfully sourced.

My dad entered Trepassey a few months before his 100th birthday, which he celebrated whilst there. He had previously had two weeks respite there and couldn't wait to return as a full time resident. The level of care was outstanding and the activities and mental stimulation, the best I have seen anywhere. he enjoyed a visit to the art gallery, quizzes, stimulating conversation and excellent musical entertainment. Staff were always ready to chat to with a smile - just wonderful.

I visit my friend approx every 2/52. She is very content, although her immediate family live in Kent. However she made many friends up here as she has lived here on Wirral for approx 50 years. She enjoys walking in the grounds (with walker). Although there are things to join in with, she prefers to be in her room. She says the food is good. Her room is pleasant and she has her own bathroom very important.

I have visited a number of residential and nursing homes, first in my capacity as a volunteer befriender for a charity, then looking for a home for my husband, who had vascular dementia. I have never been in a home like Trepassey, with an atmosphere so similar to being in one's own home. If I need 24-hour care, I have told my family that is where I want to be.

I cannot thank the care team enough for the care that is given to mum. Mum has been on occasion very poorly. The care staff really care and look after mum. The team are very good at keeping mum out of hospital. The care is second to none - it couldn't be better.

Thank you to all the teams.

Excellent facility with amazing staff.
In the short term ( 4 months so far) my mum has been there i have noticed a significant increase in the social life and overall happiness.
All the staff know her and all treat her as a friend and with respect.
She is very well fed and is happy there .
I'm sure it's the same for everyone deciding on when the right time is to send them into a home, well it's my total recommendation to use this home as they have been fabulous.

They organise outings, have a hairdresser ! Organise BBQ's which are great fun, it's a true home from home and i am exceptionally grateful to them for my mums happiness and my re-gained independence.

My mother moved to Trepassey just under a year ago, as having moderate Alzheimer's meant she could no longer manage on her own. Although she has found it difficult to accept her change in circumstances, from Day 1 she was saying how lovely everybody is there. She continues to sing the praises of all the staff, the food, the beautiful setting and her room with a view, and she has made a wonderful group of friends who all support each other. Whenever I visit I am made to feel welcome and all the staff are very friendly and genuinely care about the residents. The fact that it is not too big means there is a lovely family atmosphere. There always seems to be something going on to keep the residents entertained and engaged and they also organise trips out such as attending a rehearsal of the Orchestra, a visit to the an Art Gallery, or a trip to a local garden centre. I really feel that my mother is lucky in that she is in the best place possible.

Our mum has been resident in Trepassey since October 2024 and, in her own words, "there's nowhere I'd rather be". She's happy, settled and exceptionally well cared for.
She had a period of ill health over the Christmas and New Year period and the diligent attentiveness she received from all the staff and the health professionals who were in ready and regular attendance helped her through to her current much-improved state of health.
She enjoys all the contact she has with the caring staff, regular visitors, outings in the Home's minibus to different places, and all the many activities and special dining events the staff provide for the residents.

We couldn't be more pleased that she was able to move into such a caring, clean and safe environment at just the time of her life when she needed it. We find every member of staff with whom we come into contact unfailingly positive, helpful and happy. Between them all, they have created a really special 'home' in the truest sense of the word

My Mum moved into Trepassey permanently following a short stay of respite last summer. Immediately she arrived she was welcomed into all the social activities which she loves. She has been on lots of little trips out for lunch, to the cinema and a highlight was a trip to hear a full orchestra rehearsal. There are lots of fun lighthearted activities on offer. She loves the singers who come in, she takes part in Yoga and other activities which are arranged regularly. So we love that there is variety for her and stimulation which is very important when you have dementia. Social needs are so often neglected in the elderly and that is so not the case at Trepassey. But most of all we love that she is so well cared for, respected and treated with dignity. Trepassey is such a unique and special place for its culture. The staff are warm and welcoming and clearly have a great rapport not only with the residents but also with each other. Best care home you could wish for!

We have been absolutely delighted with the standard of care that mum has received. She is always treated with such care and dignity - recently I was impressed with the communication between staff about her lost hearing aids and genuine efforts to find them. Mum lives a full and happy life at Trepassey, enjoying many of the activities on offer and particularly appreciates the singers. She even gets out on lovely trips from time to time. Thank you so much and keep up the wonderful work.

My 96-year-old mother moved to Trepassey from her retirement flat in early June 2023. She was made to feel welcome from the moment she arrived, settled quickly and from being frail and lacking in appetite is now thriving and eating healthily again. Her smile and 'wit' is restored!
Trepassey feels like a 5* hotel – every facility available, is spotlessly clean and has a beautiful garden setting with sun terraces. Staff (all staff) are professional in all that they do – but alongside that professionalism, there's always a smile, real humanity, genuine kindness and appropriate humour in their engagement with residents/family/visitors.
I find it a joyful and uplifting experience to visit Mum and to be in such a well-managed and positive-minded environment. Thank you.

I'd be happy to live at Trepassey one day...

My mother has been at Trepassey Care Home for a couple of years now and having moved at 89 from a detached house in a different part of the UK, we were anxious about how she'd adjust to residential life. Trepassey care has been great for her. She can't ever not grumble but the grumbles are so minor that it keeps her going! The most important asset Trepassey has is its staff without whose cheery nature and obvious fondness for the residents, it wouldn't be quite the same.

I have recommended Trepassey to friends who now also have a family member in the home and like me, are very reassured that their loved one is in good and caring hands.

I can only review what I have seen and been told about by my father who was a resident at Trepassey for just over 2 years. At no time did I or my two sisters, ever have any reservations about the care provided by each and every staff member. To me, the staff (and I mean all staff) felt it was not a job, but a happy team looking after all the residents' needs, no matter what. I cannot speak too highly of their care, professionalism and kindness. The building was always spotless, nothing was too much trouble for me and my father (who in the latter months could be a little demanding), and above all, they had time for Dad just to talk to him about the old days and to make sure he was comfortable and did not need anything. It did not matter what time of the day I called, there was always a warm greeting from everyone and everyone knew Dad, how he was doing and what he had been doing. That to me meant he was cared for properly by people who cared.

Overall Experience

Mum was at Trepassey for just over six months and moved there from home when she needed more support for moderate Alzheimers. Based on our experience we would not recommend Trepassey for people with dementia. During her time there Mum became depressed, lost a lot of weight and was barely mobile by the time she left. Staff numbers seemed low. They were very task-orientated, spending little time with Mum. Staff and managers seemed poorly trained, sometimes confrontational, unsympathetic and generally unwilling to take time to discuss concerns. Specific incidents include lack of clinical and mental care, disregarding her privacy, shouting at her, being unkind, not ensuring she was wearing hearing aids and glasses, not noticing when her wounds needed dressing and refusing to take her back after admission to A&E for a fall even though the hospital were happy to discharge her the same day. Since moving to a new care home Mum has gained over a stone, has regained mobility and is much happier.
