High Brake House provides a safe, friendly and homely environment assisting people entering a new chapter of their lives. A journey undertaken together with compassion, dignity, friendship, support and laughter, they aim to improve a person’s wellbeing physically and emotionally in a family setting.
High Brake House is a family-run concern and has been operated by the same people for 21 years. Since then, the home has grown and expanded and now has the capability to look after 35 residential people.
The home offers state of the art facilities, all bedrooms are single en suite, many with full wet rooms, and gardens are easily accessible and can be enjoyed by all. Fibre broadband and CCTV are also available. With a variety of choices for meals and snacks, food is prepared and home cooked in-house in a state-of-the-art kitchen.
Residents are welcome to bring their own items into the care home, this can include pictures, chairs, televisions and items they have cherished in their own home, ensuring their space feels personal to them. Green fingered residents are also encouraged to bring their own flowers for the garden. You are not just a ‘Room Number', you are a person in High Brake House.
Residents are offered regular stimulation, this can vary from a one-on-one chat to a person with limited mobility in their own bedroom, chatting to them about their achievements, past interests and their family, to outings out from the care home to local eateries and shops for the more able residents.
The home also offers services such as the ‘fine dining experience’. This allows a private table to be booked once a month for a resident to use, they can invite friends, family and other residents if they wish to enjoy a meal of their choice in a beautiful, quiet setting. They dedicate a member of the staffing team to serve you the meal and address any help you might need. There are also regular parties in the home.

When it came to the last days of mum's life the staff cared for and treat mum with respect. I can highly recommend this home for all these reasons and for the peace of mind that your loved one is being cared for with such high standards.

It's a very difficult decision to make finding care for a much loved family member who had managed to remain at home well into her 90's, however, everyone at High brake are wonderful warm caring people who have made Mums transition into residential care all the more easier, we know she's in good hands. Everyone from the staff who cook the meals, serve the tea coffee , do the laundry and the carers do an amazing job. There is a real family atmosphere and sense of home . We never imagined for one minute Mum would be painting playing skittles and having a sing song. She's looking forward to the summer so she can be out in the fabulous garden again. It has been a very positive experience so far, thanks to the amazing team who work at High brake.

The care staff were at all times pleasant and supportive, and I felt so much stronger mentally and physically that I decided I was ready to cope independently again and return home. The fee for my second week was quickly refunded.

My mum initially was at High Brake House for respite care. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and treated with dignity and respect which continued throughout her stay. The staff were all caring kind and professional. Each visit we were pleasantly greeted by a team member and they always were able to advise where to find mum. Staff were always available to discuss mums care and needs and were very good at contacting us to keep us updated. The management team were always available to discuss anything or answer any questions. The food was good and available in small portions. The home was always clean and tidy. They initially told us the care was individualised to the resident and they did just that.

My mum had been in the care home for just short of three years until she sadly passed away in January. Throughout her time in High Brake I could not fault the level of care shown by all the staff towards her. When my mum first went into the home they supported her independence, even charging up her mobility scooter to allow her to visit the local cricket club! As her balance deteriorated the level of care and support given increased proportionately so that mum was always kept safe. The staff are always friendly and cheerful, nothing is too much trouble for them. We were able to personalise her room with family photos etc. Mum became one of the 'High Brake family' and I know she was cared for and loved by all who worked there. When we were unable to visit, the home facilitated a FaceTime meet, which was gratefully appreciated. I couldn't have asked for better care and would not hesitate to recommend High Brake House.

My husband had been at home for nearly two and half years being cared for full time by myself. He had suffered sepsis with complications of 2 strokes, leaving him registered blind with reduced mobility. As a family we took a view that both my husband and I needed that little bit of respite. Having visited other homes the idea was put on ice because we felt their environment was not suitable. In January 2025 High Brake was recommended and the Managers visited us in our home and advised us correctly for the length of respite and assessed my husband's requirements, this proved invaluable. Whilst in their care my husband wanted nothing, all the staff were a credit to the High Brake brand and could not help us enough. The family have discussed my husband's next visit, as and when this is required it will be the only home that will be considered.
