Woodlea Care Home is located in Doncaster, set back from the Great North Road, and is convenient for shops, public transport, amenities and the M18 motorway. Doncaster Town Centre is 2 miles.

The property is an historic Edwardian Building, that has been carefully converted into a care home. All rooms are either en-suite or offer washing facilities and are for single occupancy, however, some are large enough for sharing.

Woodlea has TV lounges and a quiet sitting room in which to relax. Meals are served in a separate dining room, where residents can join the company of others. A wide range of traditional home cooked food using fresh produce is served. Daily choices are available and special diets can be catered for.

An experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist visit the home regularly. A range of complementary therapies can be arranged to suit individual requirements.

A varied programme of activities also takes place in the home.

I cannot praise the care my mum receives enough. The home is well managed and no request is too much trouble. Every query is dealt with quickly and efficiently. My mother is treated with love and respect and so much effort is put into making her life fun and stimulating as well as keeping her safe and
well.

The home always feels welcoming. Lounges are smart and the whole place is well kept and clean. Rooms are a bit compact but it was adequate for mum. The food was delicious and mum always praised its quality. The care was consistently very good, however, some staff talked very quickly and, suffering dementia,
mum found it hard to process what was said to her sometimes. There is a large garden to the rear - not sure how well the garden area is monitored if patients go out there. On the whole, mum settled well there and I feel the care she got there was good.

After much research and visiting other care homes, Woodlea was the only residential care home that we were prepared to introduce our family member to. The standards and care of the staff are excellent, doing their very best to ensure that residents are treated with respect and dignity afforded to them
as well as keeping family members up to date with their family member (resident) abreast with their care and daily living activities. We would recommend Woodlea Care Home to any other relatives looking for a place where their family members are treated by staff as their family would wish to be treated.

Since Trust Care took over the running of Woodlea the standard of the facilities has much improved. Management was always good but perhaps were not given the support from the previous owners.
Today both management and staff are of the highest standard and the owners are actively involved in reviewing
standards are maintained. A happy environment for residents and staff in what is a difficult vocation.

Woodlea is a friendly residential home with caring, friendly carers and management. Activities and outing are organised by a very dedicated member of staff. Relatives are always made welcome and staff give time to discuss any concerns regarding their relative. I have, on occasions, been tearful and
distressed regarding my Mothers change in behaviour, her physical and mental health, a different person to the woman she once was. The manager, deputy manager and other care staff have been supportive and given time to me on these occasions. Mum has found the transition from caring for herself to being cared for difficult but says the staff are lovely and caring.

The home has been very attentive to my mother's needs since she moved in at the beginning of May. She is heavily dependent on help in moving her around and the staff have been very caring in helping her.
We have found that any complaints (generally minimum) are swiftly addressed by the management who
are very protective of their residents.
The general level of cleanliness is excellent and the quality and variety of food similar.
The company has invested heavily in upgrading its facilities throughout the home and this has proved a very sensible move.

In my opinion, the staff Woodlea are excellent. The care and support provided to my mother in law following various admissions to hospital has been excellent. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The staff are kind and cheerful very knowledgeable about mums needs- with the exception of technical/medical
intervention I feel the care they provide often surpasses that of the care received in NHS by mum. Mum loves being in Woodlea I am so pleased she was able to move there from her previous home.

My mother is very happy after her first four months in this home. Her first room was not good but her new room is brilliant, especially as we are now getting it sorted to her taste with more of her personal items. The gardens are all in need of some TLC but no doubt this will happen as the new owners
are improving things throughout the home. As has been pointed out recently, we are paying over the odds to help fund their underpayments by local councils/governments.

My father has been a resident at Woodlea for over two years. He is very happy and settled there and I am very pleased with the level of care he gets. The manager Amanda and all the staff are so patient and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them. It is a very homely environment and I am so
glad we chose Woodlea for him.

Short stay two weeks after hospital treatment, cannot speak too highly of the staff. I have watched the patience, tolerance and kindness shown to all residents regardless. How they keep it up is beyond me. I would never keep my cool. All facilities are excellent. All sorts of activities. I miss a poetry
discussion. Took part in bingo!! musical party afternoon, ball games on carpets in the lounge etc. I would have no hesitation in coming back.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.539)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.539) out of 10 for Woodlea Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.739 for Woodlea Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.739
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlea Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
