The staff are welcoming, experienced, and very committed. They carefully select kind and caring people to join the team, who also know the local area well.
They have a day centre and a minibus to take residents on outings and involve them in activities. One resident loves joining the team on trips to pick people up. They go shopping to places like Boundary Mills, visit The Deep aquarium, and even run simple errands like going to Asda. They also enjoy outings to country pubs and take part in local events like the Parsons Cross Forum, which supports dementia care. They can also use the Colley Club for large events and parties.
Two activity coordinators keep residents engaged with a variety of activities, from one-on-one nail care to arts and crafts, chair exercises, pony and dog therapy, and visits from small animals. They also have regular singers, entertainers, and magicians.
The food at Deerlands is homemade and delicious. The cooks talk to residents about what they like and make traditional favourites like stews, chicken pot pies, and baked treats. They also serve curries and spicy meals. The smell of food cooking always fills the home, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The staff love working here. One person came to Deerlands as a short-term job but has been there for ten years, and staff say it’s a great company and a lovely place to work.

My gran moved to Deerlands early this year and the home has been great with her. They do events, take residents out for the day and offer in-home services like having their nails painted and the usual hair, pedicure etc.

Mum stayed in this home, her room was cold the radiator did not work for 3 weeks eventually moved to another room. It was not clean, your feet stuck to the carpet I was told the carpet would be changed it never was, tv got broke not a problem, it was let on the side, the stand had sharp edges, I was told they had ordered a new stand, they just fob you off. Her room was not clean her clothes where ruined and dirty looking when they came back from the laundry, the home was decorated apart from the corridor. Mum stayed because they have Alzheimer's, they don't matter sometimes there were no staff about, the smell on the corridor was overpowering most of the time when she left we were given another patient drug charts. I have photo proof if the drugs had been given to my mum she would have been very ill or worst could have died. When I told the staff I was fobbed off again like it was no big deal some of the staff were really lovely, some it was just a paycheck at the end of the month.

We have continued to visit 2/3 days a week for the next 12 months, during this period we have always found the care and hygiene to be of very high standard. Food and food presentation is excellent.
