The home features spacious lounges and a dining area, all furnished with comfortable, homely decor to create a relaxed atmosphere.
Residents are encouraged to make the most of the secure, enclosed garden and patio areas, which offer a variety of seating options for relaxing or socialising. Ramps and wide doorways ensure full wheelchair accessibility throughout the premises.
To promote independence and comfort, Cottingham Hall is equipped with specialist equipment, including hoists, grab rails, and mobility aids. Every bedroom has its own unique coloured door and distinctive features to help residents living with dementia easily identify their personal space. Hallways are enhanced with sensory artwork, and toilet and bathroom areas feature contrast walls to support orientation and engagement.
A hairdressing salon is available, with a professional hairdresser visiting twice weekly. Residents are invited to personalise their rooms with treasured items, such as photos, ornaments, and other personal belongings, to make their space truly feel like home.
Delicious, nutritious meals are freshly prepared, with menus designed to meet varied dietary needs and preferences.

Cottingham Hall always has a calm, welcoming friendly atmosphere and is a pleasure to visit. The staff are always very caring and attentive, and nothing is too much trouble as they help Mum to settle in and feel valued. Mum has a clean, modern room with ensuite facilities and very quickly felt at home there. She is starting to take part in the many activities on offer and has made some new friends. I am so glad that we chose Cottingham Hall to care for Mum when she was no longer able to look after herself and am sure she will continue to be happy here.

Since my mum moved into the home, the change in her has been really positive. She seems to have more interest in life. At times it is like having my old mum back. Her anxiety is not as bad as when living on her own. The home has a nice feel to it. The team of carers really do care about the residents. Having the residents' best interests at heart. Both professional people visitng mum, along with family & friends have all passed comment on how impressed they are with the home. Mum seemed to have settled in better than I thought she would. I have peace of mind now knowing she is safe and well cared for.

Overall the quality of care is consistently good and appropriate to the needs of individual residents. The staff are friendly and interact with residents and visitors.
It would be helpful to have an organisation chart on display in reception with staff photos and information about their roles and responsibilities. It can be difficult to establish who to approach about issues.
It would also be helpful to have more information about activities etc, we often miss these as there has been no prior notification.
Whilst accepting the need for vigilance and security to protect the security and safety of the residents it can be difficult for visitors to access and egress the premises, perhaps this could be reviewed.
It might be helpful to consider provision of a 'surgery' style meeting at regular intervals where relatives would have an opportunity to raise any concerns/issues
The staff are amazing I can not thank them all enough for taking great care of my dad he was only with them a short time but he loved it there the staff were amazing with him even when he could be a bit difficult at times the food was great he loved it and all the staff would keep him laughing at...

Mum has been in Cottingham Hall for approximately five years, despite her disability and being unable to leave her room, she always seems very happy when we visit and she always looks very clean and looked after. The staff are amazingly caring and treat her like a member of the family.

Friday 23rd September 2022 I visited my aunt as usual. She looked frail but comfy. On her table was water, sarsaparilla and milkshake. She greeted me with "drink", she likes yoghurt pouches. She had a strawberry one from her cool bag, suggested by a carer to keep drinks and fruit cool without fruit...
Friday 23rd September 2022 I visited my aunt as usual. She looked frail but comfy. On her table was water, sarsaparilla and milkshake. She greeted me with "drink", she likes yoghurt pouches. She had a strawberry one from her cool bag, suggested by a carer to keep drinks and fruit cool without fruit flies in the room as these bothered staff and my aunt. She drank it straight down but was cold as the pouch was cold. I went to ask staff for a throw. In the corridor, a resident, in a comfy chair, tapped her knee to the music coming from the lounge. In the lounge, I was greeted by staff on their day off decorating the two lounges, laughter and residents giving their views on the decorating. One big family having fun as two members of staff and their husbands and two residents were renewing their wedding vows the next day. Returning with a throw, my aunt wanted to know what was going on. The pandemic had stopped mixing with others, a party was what they needed to have a reason to wake up the next day.
