Westwood has a Review Score of 8.9 (8.866) out of 10, based on 6 reviews in the last 2 years.
Over all time Westwood has 17 reviews.
Westwood only has about 16 patients all of which seemed to me to have differing aspects to their dementia. but all respected and helped and understood. this is most important to the patient I feel. Staff were always readily available to help or advise when ever I visited the home and where interested to learn things about their patients that may help them in looking after ones relatives. Seemed a happy environment and in the good weather a garden to be enjoyed and offer a little walk round for all. Drinks of tea etc always available and in the warm weather ice lollies and ice cream to help patients get liquid on board. All staff seemed genuinely happy and very willing to spend time with individuals as need arose, never ever any excuse from staff to be back in a few minutes. The attention was there and willingly given to make patients as happy and content as they could.
Thank you so much for this lovely review, Peter - it means a great deal to everyone at Westwood.
We're especially pleased that you noticed how we try to understand and support each resident living with dementia as an individual, and that our team came across as readily available, happy and...
My family member was resident for two years and at first the overall care including staff and management was very good but has rapidly gone downhill (in particular management) who treated my family member very badly and lied about giving a separate downstairs room needed due to mobility issues as they insisted she could only share a room with another resident at the full price with barely any privacy or security. The carers were lovely and so helpful but unfortunately our relationship with the management was untenable so we had to move my family member to another care home which is much nicer and has many more advantages thankfully eg a single room, more privacy and fit for purpose which Westwood Care Home is not, decor also much better and with welcoming staff. I would definitely not recommend Westwood Care Home at all unfortunately.
We are sorry you feel dissatisfied with Westwood's care for your Mother. Older care homes like ours often have a mix of single and larger shared rooms, carefully allocated based on needs, preferences and mobility. Shared rooms can sometimes be better situated for a resident with the added benefit...
Our lovely mum unfortunately was only at Westwood for a short time, but during her stay she was shown so much compassion, sensitivity towards her care and needs. The staff always warmly spoke to mum when they entered her room, helping her to know of their presence and informed her what care was going to be carried out. As a family we always recieved a warm welcome, staff communicated with us every step of the way and on Mum's final day they were very supportive, which we were truly grateful for, can't thank them enough. While searching for a suitable care home for our Mum and reading loads of reviews, which is a huge responsibility, plus all the emotional feelings attached with this decision making. Westwood gained less stars for their decor being dated, I can honestly say I would take their OUTSTANDING care over scuffed wallpaper any day. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new home or home for their loved ones. Keep up your fantastic work. Thanks again.
Thank you for taking your time to leave such lovely feedback for all of our staff, it was our pleasure to look after your mum and was a pleasure meeting you, it is really nice to read such kind and encouraging words about the home, and the staff. Thank you. Take care.
The cook makes lovely home cooked food and fab buns! I can't recommend this care home highly enough I can honestly say I have no worries knowing my mum is looked after by such a lovely team. They include relatives in all important decisions and are so welcoming.Thank you so much. This is the second review I have wrote as the first has not been verified for some reason.
Thank you so much for persevering and submitting a second review! Receiving such positive feedback is invaluable to our team and us. We are delighted that you are happy with the care your mum is receiving at Westwood. It is reassuring to hear that residents' families feel informed and welcomed -...
Westwood took Mum with no notice as an emergency placement in March 2024. It was during a very stressful time for Mum and the family. The staff were fantastic in helping Mum to settle in her totally new environment and Mum enjoyed the stimulation of staff and making new friends. The staff are so patient letting Mum help with cleaning, tidying and other household tasks! These kind interactions have helped Mum to develop lovely bonds with the staff improving Mum's communication and reducing her stress and anxiety. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Residents are given food and drink on an individual basis, when required, such as sleeping late. Mum also enjoys lunch and supper eating with her friends. The home is flexible and works around family requests, nothing is too much trouble. I am grateful for everything they patiently do (or not do, if Mum chooses!) as she is as happy and content as she can be at Westwood. I always feel welcome when visiting. It's a lovely caring home.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience with Westwood Care Home. It was our privilege to welcome your mum during such a difficult time and it has been wonderful to see her settle in the home with other residents, developing friendships and a strong bond with the care...
My Mum has been a resident in Westwood Care Home since January 2020. The care she has received in that time has been excellent, during COVID I had no concerns as I was regularly updated by the manager. The food is always excellent and well planned with plenty of variety. There is always regular entertainment for the residents with residents families encouraged to attend. Residents' families are always made welcome by the staff, a legacy from the previous manager who was the manager of the home for 21 years. Some of the staff go above and beyond in their care for every resident. The home is badly in need of the decor updating, but the care is the most important thing and I would recommend Westwood Care Home to anybody.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Westwood Care Home. We appreciate your positive feedback on our staff, who are dedicated to going above and beyond in their roles, the quality of our meals, and the range of activities we provide. Thank you for recognising our team and the welcoming...
My great auntie spent 7.5 years at Westwood Care Home. The staff were always very happy, friendly, professional and caring. The staff treated my aunt like family and were very welcoming when we visited. There is a very welcoming feeling to the home. Unfortunately, we lost my aunt, and the staff were nothing but amazing with her from start to finish. I will be forever grateful for everything they did, not just for my aunt but for her family too. Highly recommend Westwood Care Home.
Dad was admitted first and settled extremely quickly. At home, prior to moving into Westwood, he would spend most days sleeping. He suffers from dementia and therefore now requires around-the-clock care. Dad’s quality of life has vastly improved. It is very rare to see him sleeping and his mobility has improved significantly. The meals in Westwood are made to suit each resident’s needs and Dad has always loved his food. He is very happy and always smiling. The staff have been amazing with his care.
Mum suffered a nasty fall and was left unable to walk when admitted to Westwood. After leaving hospital she had practically given up on life. She wasn’t eating and was mentally and physically in a bad place. Her turnaround has been remarkable. The staff have encouraged her to eat and she is now much stronger. She is happy and comfortable within her new surroundings.
I could not ask for more. Thank you to everyone.
The food is well cooked and delicious with a varied choice.
The decor is a bit dated in the public areas and some of the rooms but they seem to be doing them up as and when possible.
I would definitely recommend Westwood to anyone looking for compassionate and caring staff.
All staff are dedicated to giving a high-quality service. Everyone is so friendly and goes the extra mile to keep the atmosphere happy and offer things to do. The food is all home cooked, fresh products and varied. Fluids are on offer all day long ensuring the hydration levels are good. The only area that could do with attention is the overall decor in rooms and shared areas.
My experience is that the staff are always friendly and very, very supportive. Nothing is too much. Always there for my partner, can't do enough for him. Good getting him into doing things and playing games. It is an excellent care home, second to none.
It's only been a few days that my dad has been here, but so far everything has been excellent. The staff have been so good with my dad and us. We have really struggled with the decision that he needs more care than we can give him and they understand this. So far everything is very positive and my dad is happy.
The care home feels like one big family run by some amazing carers who actually do care. The food is delicious, again prepped and served by cooks that do care and cater for all needs. Improvements are required with the decor and furniture to make it more appealing and a good overall clean.
Good afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to review our care home. We are continuously seeking ways to keep improving, so greatly appreciate your positive feedback and all staff are able to see your kind-hearted words. Improvements are continuously being made to Westwood and we endeavour to ensure that all points raised are part of these improvements. Thank you.
I was lucky enough to find my beautiful mum a place at Westwood, and whilst she lived there, she received nothing but the absolute best love and care she could have possibly have got, away from her blood family! I will be forever in their debt for how they looked after my darling mum at the end of her life.
Good morning. Thank you so much for your lovely, kind and heartfelt words. We are always looking for ways to improve, but we also really appreciate and love to read the positive feedback we receive, so thank you. All feedback has been passed on to staff and they are very grateful and every positive review we receive gives us a huge lift. Thank you, and please keep in touch!
Westwood care home looks after my mum and they are always informative and helpful, my mum is well looked after and I am confident in the care she is receiving. She is well fed and seems happy. The home seems to have improved over the last few months
Good morning. Thank you very much for the positive review. We are consistently looking for ways to improve but also really appreciate the positive feedback we receive. We are extremely pleased to hear that you are confident in the care we are offering and we will continue striving to achieve and improve. Thank you very much.
The staff at Westwood showed a lot of care for Mum throughout her stay there. This was especially so in the final weeks of her life when we spent a lot of time with her and saw with our own eyes how dedicated the staff were.
Welcoming to visitors, and kind to residents. Good fresh food cooked on the premises. The home has a good atmosphere. Poor building maintenance when the heating was off for weeks in a very cold spell because the boiler needed replacing, also laundry machines regularly breaking down was not good. The situation has now been resolved and was no reflection on the staff who coped very well. The home needs a lift!
