My mother was made to feel very welcome here right from the start. Her every needs were met and the experience was more like a high class hotel than a care home. At that time she was active and involved in the last few days before she passed away, everyone was so kind to us all and she was treated with respect and dignity. The staff supported us through her last days too, and we were able to focus on her, enabling her to leave us peacefully.
Thank you so much for sharing these kind words. It was a privilege for our team to care for your mother and to support your family during such a difficult time.
We are glad we could provide a comfortable environment and the peace of mind you needed to focus on her. We will be sure to pass your...
Having had experience of other local homes for my husband and father,I have found Bradbury House to be the best. The staff are welcoming nothing too much trouble. My mother at 95 is well looked after .The home is clean ,tidy and the food is very good. The only concern my mum has is the turnover of staff she finds it very unsettling and it aggravates her anxiety. I understand this is out of the control of management except to say that they should ensure that agency staff are fully conversant with the Bradbury regime and residents.
Thank you for your kind review. We are pleased to hear that your mother is well cared for and that you value the welcoming atmosphere, cleanliness, and food at Bradbury House. We also appreciate your feedback regarding staff continuity and understand how important consistency is for residents' wellbeing. This is something we continue to actively address.
Mum always said "don't ever put me in a home" and I said I wouldn't. We got to a point where a 2 week respite break was necessary, so she joined the residents at Bradbury House. She enjoyed the company and activities, and the staff were so kind and caring towards her. Within 3 days of returning home she asked to go back and is now a permanent resident. She loves the views from her room but spends most of her time in the lounge talking to the other residents, playing dominoes when there are no other activities scheduled. I can't thank the staff enough for welcoming her into the home and for caring for her like one of their own family. They also welcome myself and my sister when we visit and often end up joining the activities.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are delighted that your mother settled so quickly and now feels at home at Bradbury House. It is wonderful to hear she enjoys the company, activities and social life, and that you and your sister feel welcomed when you visit. Your kind words mean a great deal to the team, who strive every day to provide compassionate, person-centred care.
My mother-in-law was at Bradbury House for just over four years. In that time she enjoyed the company and activities. Latterly she enjoyed her room and the views. The staff are professional and always treated her with love and respect. During her final weeks, we could not have asked for more and her wish was to remain there where she felt safe and loved to the end.
Hi Cathy. Thank you for your 5-star review of our Bradbury house.
Abbeyfield Bradbury House is a very caring and comfortable care home. The staff are friendly and approachable and provide excellent food/drinks and interesting and varied activities. The new manager started June/July 2024 has yet not introduced herself to residents' close family despite having many opportunities to do so (open afternoons/family events). Overall very happy with the care home.
Thank you for your 4-star review of Bradbury House. I'm sure you will get to meet our House Manager in the near future at another event at the house.
Bradbury House itself is light and airy and a really pleasant place to be. The food, which is all freshly cooked, is homely, tasty and healthy, and served with grace and friendly help where needed. Thank you, too, to the medical staff who look after residents. I don't know how our family would have gotten through the last year of his life without you all.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us at Bradbury House. We understand how challenging it can be to entrust the care of a loved one to others, and your appreciation for our staff's dedication and compassion means the world to us. Excellent care provided to my mum. Mum passed at the care home in August 2023 following an 18-month period in the care home. From the time she arrived from her home 350 miles away (to be closer to family), to the day she passed, the staff from management to carers and cooks, all treated Mum with such kindness and dignity that I will be forever grateful to them all. Mum was well looked after, and cared for in such a manner, she was always happy and very peaceful to the minute she breathed her last breath. Thank you Bradbury House.
Thank you for such a lovely review Eleanor, we are deeply sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure to care for your mum and we are glad that she was treated with such kindness and dignity. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review for us at this sad time.
In the final months and the very difficult final weeks and days, Dad received superb care with boundless compassion and tenderness. They kept us informed all the time and even looked after members of the family who were with Dad during these times.
Hi Jenny, thank you so much for your review. We are thrilled to read how happy you were with the care and support your father received. We strive to create a special place for our residents, and we are glad that you feel it is a good place to live. Kind regards, Abbeyfield
I was very pleased with the care given by the home. The carers were always very helpful and gave support to both the resident and their family. The kitchen staff helped when a resident had any dietary requirements. The cleaners always kept the residents room and public areas spotless. If ever any of my family and friends needed to go into a care home, I would recommend Bradbury House to them. The care they give is exemplary.
Kind regards, Abbeyfield
All the staff cared for and supported her in her last, final and difficult days in an excellent way. Thank you.
Thank you for leaving your review on Bradbury House. It's great to hear that our staff provided excellent support to your mum during her time there, and we will pass your thanks on to the staff.
In her final weeks, days and hours the staff were outstanding and I couldn't praise them enough!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Bradbury House. We are pleased to hear that our staff were always caring and welcoming and that you had faith that your mum was in good hands.
We are extremely happy with the care provision at Bradbury House. The staff are excellent and caring with the residents and know everyone in person and their care needs. It is a real home from home and it is great to know that should any emergency happen, there would be an immediate and appropriate response. We can't fault the care from our mum.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Susan. Your comments are very much appreciated.
Bradbury House and its wonderful staff gave my mum a caring, loving, warm, friendly and safe environment. Mum spent her final years at Bradbury House and despite never wanting to go into a residential environment, following a fall, she moved into Bradbury House in January 2018. Mum never looked back. I can never thank the staff enough for the kindness, the fun, the laughter, the caring, wonderful warm environment, they all provided for her in her final years. Mum and her family became part of the Bradbury House family and for my mum, It provided all of the above emotional and physical care but also importantly, friendship and company, both of which had been missing as Mum's isolation, created by dementia, slowly progressed. Thank you Bradbury House.
Thank you Janet for your kind review. We are very pleased to hear how happy your mum was at Bradbury House.
The staff have also been of great support and comfort to ourselves in this difficult year, with none of our requests being of too much trouble.
A well run, friendly establishment and comes extremely highly recommended from ourselves.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are very pleased to read such positive feedback.
Bradbury House is located in a beautiful part of Cumbria with stunning views of the Wasdale Valley. It is small enough to remain personal and the staff appear totally committed to the care of their residents. The single en-suite rooms are spacious and residents are encouraged to make them as homely as they wish. Bradbury House provides the best support for the extra care Mum needs whilst encouraging her independence. This tailored care package also allows Mum the freedom to take exercise and enjoy the garden grounds which, for an active lady, has been such a bonus. Every effort is made to provide group activities and entertainment and there is always time allowed for residents to sit together and put the world to rights. It has been challenging during Covid-19, but for our family, we have made the very best of everything Bradbury House has come up with to continue a close connection with our Mum.
Thank you for such a wonderful review, Ruth, I will pass your kind words on to the staff. Glad to hear your mum enjoys living at Bradbury House.
Mum moved into Bradbury House in February 2020 and the lockdown restrictions on visiting care home residents have meant that we have been unable to visit her as often as we had intended. It is a huge relief for us to know that she is being looked after so well by the manager and her excellent team. We are involved in decisions to do with Mum’s care and reassuringly we are encouraged to contact the manager or her deputies if we have concerns. The staff all know who Mum is and are open to discussing care issues and flexible in looking for ways that concerns can be addressed. The food is all cooked on-site and I love the way that the dining room is arranged with small tables that are properly set up with tablecloths etc. Pre-lockdown there were a varied range of activities carried out by people from outside the home and hopefully in time, these will be able to resume. In the meantime, the staff do their best to provide activities and entertainment. I would definitely recommend Bradbury House.
Thank you for such a nice review Lindsey, we are really pleased to hear how happy you are with Bradbury House. Glad your mum has settled in well.
My mother lived happily at Bradbury House for five years. She was looked after extremely well by all the staff, particularly in the later years as her hearing and sight deteriorated. She enjoyed the meals, in particular, the homemade soup. The manager made Mum feel part of the 'family' in her home at Bradbury House.
Thank you David for taking the time to leave a very kind review.
This care home, staff and particularly the manager are wonderful. My relative who had limited family was accepted into the large extended, caring family of Bradbury House. They looked after her every need however complex. She was respected, loved and looked after. In the latter years of living in her own home and much loved but isolated environment, she had had to develop a strong, independent nature, coping on her own without everyday company. It was a massive decision to move into Bradbury House but from the start, she was given love, care, comfort and contentment without losing her autonomy or independence. She was very happy to be there and full of praise for the people who looked after her. I can not praise this home and it's manager highly enough. They go over and above their call of duty to make a resident feel respected, safe and most of all happy to be there. Thank you so much.
Always clean and smells fresh.
Food choices and good food.
Regular drinks.
Entertainment and trips quite frequently.
This review is on behalf of my mother, who passed away this year. Mum was very happy in Bradbury, made lots of friends and enjoyed her time there. We were always made very welcome when we visited - it has a very homely feel, which is why we chose it. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
