I have been very impressed with the care shown and given to my godparent. They show kindness, consideration and are always keen to ensure they are dealt with, with dignity. There is a positive attitude to everyone in the household, and this is echoed in the decor and furnishings, which are all maintained
to the highest standard. As a visitor, I always feel welcomed and the staff help me feel supported, as well as my godparent.

We are so pleased and relieved to have found Westall House for mum. The staff are so kind and caring, friendly and welcoming. Mum has settled in really well and we are confident she is well looked after. The food is excellent and the grounds are beautiful. Everything seems to run very efficiently and
staff are happy in their work, which creates a calm and relaxed atmosphere for the residents, so important with dementia. Management team are easy to contact and happy to discuss details of mum's care plan. From maintenance, cleaners, carers, caterers, activities, to admin, everyone puts the residents wellbeing at top priority. Thank you!

My father was welcomed at Hill House three months ago after a long stay in hospital. Although disoriented at first he is now settling in thanks to the wonderful care he receives. All of the staff are very kind and considerate towards his needs and his wellbeing. He is encouraged to participate in activities
and can do as much or as little as he chooses. He appreciates the lovely rural setting and beautiful large gardens in the quiet of the countryside and of course the outstanding variety of great meals. He recently celebrated his birthday, the staff brought him a cake and sang Happy Birthday which he deeply appreciated and talked about all afternoon.
I viewed 15 care homes for dad and am so happy I found Hill House. I highly recommend this home.

After 2 years of visiting my husband in the care home, I appreciate all the hard work it takes to keep the occupants happy & well cared for. The staff read to them & play games etc & have led parties in the lovely gardens. The food is excellent & nothing is too much trouble. The staff also helped me
to come to terms with the loss of my husbands company & became my friends. I therefore looked forward to my visits even more. Well done & thank you.

Since the day, me and my wife visited this center to find out possible places for my great grand aunt, we have been very impressed by the quality of service, staff friendliness and the overall management. The customer relations manager made us feel welcomed during our first visit and explained everything
in detail. My aunt's transfer to care home was handled very smoothly without putting us under pressure to show or prove her financial ability to support her stay. Since the move my aunt has settled in well as staff is very caring and friendly.
They are very attentive and keep us informed about my aunt.
I highly recommend this care home, which is well within the reach for anyone living in Woodley, Wokingham and nearby areas. From my experience I can say that the family members who may have to use the care home will definitely be looked after very well.

It was an absolute relief when we visited Abbeyfield. The Manager was extremely helpful and welcoming, putting us to ease explaining everything and taking us for a tour. They were not rushed for the finance part but only focused on the wellbeing and settling the resident. The staff at Abbeyfield are
the highlight of this care home. Whenever I have visited my resident, the staff has always greeted us very well and we see them very helpful, cheerful and active around every resident. The facilities are perfect and the rooms are designed to make the resident feel safe, secure and also in touch with nature. It does not feel claustrophobic as every room as an outlet to outdoors and have a nice view of the garden. The activities are programmed as per the interests and abilities of the resident. Its a lively atmosphere at Abbeyfield and gives the best elderly care to the loved ones.

We chose Abbeyfield for Mum when it became obvious she was no longer able to remain in her bungalow even with carers visiting her. Sadly she was only with them a few weeks before a steep (and unexpected) decline in physical health led to her demise, but in that time their care was faultless. She was
given every attention by all the staff, who looked after her so well in her final hours. My brother and sister-in-law were also treated to the same consideration while they were sitting with Mum.
The premises felt like a real home, not a clinical residence, and everyone working there is friendly and helpful.

I cannot praise this care home highly enough. From the moment we stepped inside to visit, we felt a really warm atmosphere and observed happy residents. The Customer Relations Manager explained the services, showed us around and did not concentrate on a heavy sales pitch which we appreciated. We observed
a full programme of events designed to stimulate and, after moving in, my mother in law told us how lovely the staff were - a high accolade as she was not easy to please! They made progress with walking and personal care which had been near impossible with ourselves. At end of life, the in house nurses looked after her and all the stress of calling out district nurses, doctors and palliative care nurses was taken from us and my mother In law did not have to spend her final days in a hospital. The care she received in this home was second to none and everyone was very supportive of ourselves as well as my mother in law.

Our grateful thanks to all the dedicated staff at Abbeyfields, Winnersh.

Incredibly responsive and caring. My mother was only a resident for a short time before she passed, but we noted that there were always plenty of staff around, even at mid-night. Their staff fully understood their duties, and quickly established what care my mother required and how to best deliver it,
even when she was being stubborn. Their physios had even got her walking again after she claimed she couldn't. We were very impressed with the full programme of events which helped with mental health. We would highly recommend Abbeyfield Winnersh.

Halcyon House

from Paul H (Son of Resident) published on 27 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

From our very first visit to Halcyon House, it was obvious that the staff took considerable pride in their roles and the residents were treated with compassion, respect and dignity. It is small, warm and sociable, which made it an easy decision to choose it as my mum's new home. She was rather poorly
before she arrived, however, after a little coaxing she is now eating, becoming stronger every day and has settled-in well, a testament to the hard-working, kind, compassionate and professional staff.

The management and staff are friendly, extremely approachable, and keep us fully updated with all her care information, which is settling as we do not live locally and are not able to visit her as frequently as we would like.

In the short time that mum has been at Halcyon, we are extremely confident that mum is safe, comfortable and settled in her new surroundings.

Thank you very much for all you do for mum.

My friend has been at Halcyon House for 16 months and has received exceptional care from the beginning of her stay. It wasn't an easy decision when she moved in but it was definitely the right decision. She has enjoyed the company of new friends with both residents and all the carers welcoming her into
the fold. She has been dearly loved by all. She has enjoyed sitting in the sun room watching the world go by as much as joining in the various entertainment and activities. I was able to rest assured that all was well towards the end of her life, at 95 she received both professional and caring palliative care. I was kept informed at all times and can only thank all concerned. I would recommend Halcyon House to everyone.

Mum had deteriorated significantly this month from being relatively active and joining in with the others to just sitting in her room.
The staff were constantly supportive and in frequent communication with myself and my husband and if we required anything, it was not too much trouble for them.
During
her last week, she was semi-conscious, but there was someone sitting with her 24/7, giving her support when she needed it.
We have nothing but praise for the way she was looked after during her stay.
