At Phil Mead House, residents are supported in making decisions about how they want to live their life.

The purpose-built care home offers en-suite accommodation for 28 residents. Each room comes unfurnished allowing residents to bring their favourite pieces from home and personalise it any way they wish.

The home encourages residents to gather together in the communal areas and share stories, events of the day or enjoy a board game or two. Phil Mead House has a large lounge, dining room and garden which residents are welcome to use at their leisure.

At an Abbeyfield care home, the fully qualified staff create a care plan tailored to each individual's needs. The staff at Abbeyfield understand the needs of those who now find it difficult to cope at home without assistance.

The home ensures residents receive a personalised approach to their care. This person-centred approach means all residents are respected as an individual and treated with dignity.

As a home, it is important to support residents in pursuing hobbies and interests, to keep active and happy. The home loves the chance to take a trip out or throw a party at Phil Mead House. From weekly pub lunches to shopping trips the home takes every chance they can to enjoy the community.

Visitors can find Phil Mead House just outside of Coventry city centre. A little closer to the home, Warwickshire Shopping Park, John White Community Centre and local leisure centre are also available.

Abbeyfield are proud to offer respite stays here, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.

This property is managed by Abbeyfield Living Society (a trading name of The Abbeyfield Society).

On arriving at the care home you are always met with a cheery smile and a friendly welcome, the staff are always ready to answer any questions we have.
The care my brother is given is very good, he always looks clean and smart. Food is very good. Plenty of organised activities and special days are
celebrated.

My mother became a resident in this home a few months ago.

I have found the staff to be always friendly and caring. They understand Mum's needs and the care that she requires. We had to find a new home for her right at the height of covid when the home she was in closed. We found Phil Mead and Mum was welcomed with open arms. The home is always clean and fresh-smelling.
My mum calls Phil Mead home and is really settled there, which in turn gives me peace of mind knowing Mum will be cared for as an individual.

The care given to my father-in-law and our family is overwhelming. All staff are just like an extended famiy/friends. We find complete comfort is knowing our loved one is cared for so very well. The home is lovely and bright, food is fabulous and the feel as you enter is filled with hope and compassion.
All staff are amazing, truly beautiful ladies and gents. Special thanks to two members of staff in particular for going with my father-in-law in a taxi of the funeral of his wife, staying with him and then allowing family to return, providing refreshments. We thank you dearly. We know you/they are all amazing people. Thank you for everything.

The thing I value most is the staff. Always friendly and welcoming, I trust them implicitly with the care of my mum. They understand her needs and treat her with respect and dignity. But they can also laugh and joke with her. I know mum feels safe, secure and well cared for and I can't ask for more
than that. The staff work so hard and do a fantastic job. Thank you!

From the day we first visited Phil Mead House, we knew it was going to be the best place for my dad. The home is friendly and the fact that many members of the staff have been working there for more than 15 years speaks volumes. The leadership team create a great atmosphere for both the guests and staff.

My mum has lived here since November 2019. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their hard work and care. Particularly since Covid, as they have gone above and beyond to ensure her safety. They have worked tirelessly to put all processes into place and keep families informed of the situation. I have
been having pod visits and mum seems happy and very settled. I cannot recommend this home enough. I am eternally grateful for the peace of mind they have given me at such a difficult time.

My mum moved into Phil Mead House just under a year ago, and I am so impressed with the way they have looked after her - particularly through these months of Covid-19 lockdown.
She looks so well and is obviously very much at home in her surroundings. Really can't fault them in any way.

The level o care shown to my husband has been so caring and kind despite his poor behaviour at times. The staff are so kind to him and myself. He is not easy to care for as he is unable to feed or take care of himself in any way. The home is always clean and fresh. The food well balanced and drinks
are regularly given. I would recommend Phil Mead House highly.

I am delighted to have found Phil Mead House as a residential care setting for my elderly mother. This is a challenging task for any family and we research, visit and consider many establishments. (About a dozen in my case). It was clear from the start that Phil Mead was just right; this is a setting
that really feels like 'home'. I was impressed by the length of service of many of the staff team, which speaks volumes. Mum settled in during January 2020, and I remain confident in my choice. This is a well-run, safe, residential care home with a wonderful and dedicated staff team. Further, it is part of a large and reputable organisation. Given that the Coronavirus situation arose just after Mum moved in, their swift, effective, excellently-managed response, the rapid adaptation to newly prescribed public health practices and regular, clear communications with me has kept Mum safe and well. The greatest test; passed with flying colours.

When my father decided he couldn't manage on his own anymore I made a shortlist of care homes in the area that have 4 or more stars in every category on the CQC website. After looking around them he decided on Phil Mead House.
The staff are friendly and he is well looked after. The place feels clean,
professional and homely.
They have been very strict on rules during the coronavirus outbreak. Although frustrating for everyone concerned, I feel this is the safest place for him.

My father-in-law moved into Phil Mead House in February when we all agreed he needed more care than could be provided in his own home. We did a lot of research into care homes in the Coventry area and Phil Mead House was on our shortlist. Following a visit and discussion with the staff, both my wife
and I and most importantly my father-in-law came to the conclusion that this would be the right solution for him. The rooms were nice and the public areas welcoming. There are gardens for residents to spend time in and everyone there looked after him well.

The staff and carers at Phil Mead House have quite simply become our extended family since Mum became a resident in Nov 2019. Their support, kindness and care shown to Mum has been outstanding and both myself and all the family will never be able to thank them enough, particularly during the recent

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.860)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.860) out of 10 for Phil Mead House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.771 for Phil Mead House is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.771
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.089 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Phil Mead House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.714
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
