At Phil Mead House, residents are supported in making decisions about how they want to live their life.

The purpose-built care home offers en-suite accommodation for 28 residents. Each room comes unfurnished allowing residents to bring their favourite pieces from home and personalise it any way they wish.

The home encourages residents to gather together in the communal areas and share stories, events of the day or enjoy a board game or two. Phil Mead House has a large lounge, dining room and garden which residents are welcome to use at their leisure.

At an Abbeyfield care home, the fully qualified staff create a care plan tailored to each individual's needs. The staff at Abbeyfield understand the needs of those who now find it difficult to cope at home without assistance.

The home ensures residents receive a personalised approach to their care. This person-centred approach means all residents are respected as an individual and treated with dignity.

As a home, it is important to support residents in pursuing hobbies and interests, to keep active and happy. The home loves the chance to take a trip out or throw a party at Phil Mead House. From weekly pub lunches to shopping trips the home takes every chance they can to enjoy the community.

Visitors can find Phil Mead House just outside of Coventry city centre. A little closer to the home, Warwickshire Shopping Park, John White Community Centre and local leisure centre are also available.

Abbeyfield are proud to offer respite stays here, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.

This property is managed by Abbeyfield Living Society (a trading name of The Abbeyfield Society).

We are extremely satisfied with the care my mother-in-law is receiving. She has only been in a short while but the staff have made her very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for the office manager and her team. Excellent work from all. Thank you all.

Although mum has only been in a short while she has settled in really well and everybody at the home has made her very welcome. The staff are excellent at dealing with mum as her mobility has been affected recently. Nothing is too much trouble for the office manager and her staff.
Full marks for everybody
concerned and thank you from all of our family.

Since my Mum has been living here, her health has improved, she has gained weight.
I am pleased they have started doing the activities again as my Mum seems more alert rather than sleeping all the time.
The staff are very friendly and caring and are always happy to help or answer questions.

The standard of care is good. The residents are treated with dignity and respect.
Some of the long-serving staff are first class and 2 members of staff, in particular, go the extra mile to ensure family are involved and feel part of the care package.
The constant change in manager has been unsettling
but full praise to the staff who have kept the level of care high in the absence of a leader.

My Mother has been a resident at Phil Mead House for approximately three years. During that time she has been given the best of care. The staff are always friendly and helpful and relatives who visit often remark upon the kindness that they note is being shown to the residents by the Carers. Mother
is very happy.

Having visited several homes in the Coventry and surrounding area we found Phil Mead House the best home that suited the needs of my relative. It was more personal and family orientated than other homes plus the benefits of cleanliness and comfort.

From my first unannounced visit to Phil Mead House to look for a care home placement for my Mum, the staff were welcoming and friendly and professional.
The assessment went well and my Mum has now moved in and they have made every effort to ensure that she is made welcome and all her care needs are
met.
I'm confident I've made the right decision on behalf of my Mum, and when saw her today she had slept well had eaten breakfast and was smiling and told me about the lovely garden she could see from her window.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.860)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.860) out of 10 for Phil Mead House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.771 for Phil Mead House is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.771
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.089 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Phil Mead House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.714
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
