Care Homes Owned by Abbeyfield Living Society in Greater Manchester

Overall an excellent care home. I looked a lot of places when I was looking for somewhere for my mother. Within minutes of visiting Abbeyfield in Bramhall, I knew it was the place for her. The atmosphere is lovely. The staff are genuinely caring, and they're happy and always smiling. I only marked down a couple of points, but that's only because the space inside is just a bit tight, but that's a restriction of the building, not the staff! (and all care homes are exceedingly expensive!).

I can't praise the staff at Abbeyfield highly enough for everything they've done for my Mum since she moved in at the beginning of February. It was a massive change for her as not only had she left the house she'd lived in for 50 years but also completely changed location. Everyone was so welcoming and caring and took time to get to know her and her needs. 6 weeks on and it's wonderful to see her so happy. She joins in all the activities and has only good things to say about the food, staff and her room. If there was a 6th star I'd select it. Thanks Abbeyfield for all you do - you make such a positive difference not just for the residents but for their families as well.

We can't recommend Downing House enough. Dad's been there for just over three years and it's been brilliant. Being a smaller home the staff have more time to spend with the clients, and they genuinely do care for them all as though it was their own relatives. They have regular entertainment, summer fairs, and go out to concerts and relatives are always welcome. The communication between staff and relatives and through the home with the GP (who visits once a week) is exceptional. Everywhere is clean and bright, and it feels like a true 'home' not an institution. Dad loves it there, which is wonderful.

My sister has been a resident for 3+years and is extremely happy there as we are with her care.Most of the staff have been there years which speaks volumes. The manager is always helpful if you have any queries overall excellent..thinking of booking my place!! Thanks Jo

We used Downing House Care Home for respite for my mum for 3 weeks and it was an excellent experience. The staff are wonderful, they engaged brilliantly with mum and kept me updated and reassured throughout her stay. This is the third bout of respite we have experienced and the second care home we have used, and I have to say, the standard of care here was night and day. I didn't worry about mum here. Mum is quite active, she likes to potter and be active and they encouraged her to just be herself and keep her routine. They have a great programme of activities, and from what I saw, a lovely team who care about the residents. And refreshing to see permanent staff and not agency. All residents were clean and well-dressed when I visited. Downing House may not be as aesthetically pleasing as some other homes, but it has heart and it cares. It's a shame the third-party top-up is too high for our family to sustain long-term; otherwise, it would have been a contender for permanent care

Our mother moved in to Abbeyfield in Bramhall mid June as she could no longer live safely in her own home. The staff were all very welcoming and did their best and continue to do their best to make her feel at home. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. Nothing is too much trouble and Mum and all our family are supported with kindness and professionalism at all times. We feel very fortunate to have found such a place where Mum's wellbeing is paramount.

I have visited many care homes over many years in South London, Yorkshire and this area to visit family and friends. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is by far the best one I have ever been to. For me, it's a joy to visit my friend as I know she is getting the best care ever. This is down to the manager and all the staff. This care home is not just excellent it is outstanding. To finish, I would like to say that all care homes should be run like this one.

There are no words to convey the excellent care my father had at Abbeyfield Nursing Home. He had 2.5 wonderful years here. Every staff member was caring and considerate of Dad's needs. As a family we felt like we were walking into our own home with everyone welcoming. The end-of-life care was exceptional and it was nice to meet not only the day staff but night staff who all have a good rapport with the residents. Thank you for making the last few days calm and peaceful.

My father has settled in so well at Abbeyfield House and it's all credit to the wonderful staff and the lovely and very homely atmosphere. It's been a huge relief for me as he's so happy and fulfilled. He's made friends and he really enjoys the activities, the food, chatting to the staff and life in general at Abbeyfield. I couldn't be happier - very grateful!

I can’t tell you what wonderful care and love my Mama received in six years at Abbeyfield. The care and love and attention she received was unbelievable. The home was always spotless. The staff were always smiling, helpful and supportive. My mama received love & care as you would give to your own family member. And all the staff there became our family. If you're lucky enough to get a place here for your loved one well you’ve hit the jackpot! I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism and love she received. And the fun she had. We were a family who was visiting Mum most days and sometimes nights. So we had really true ideas of how Abbeyfield performed. We cannot thank you enough for making this last part of Mum's life so unforgettable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You did a great job every single one of you.
