It's the best nursing home I've ever been in. The staff are all amazing. It is small and homely, and my mother, who has Alzheimer's and dementia, is as happy as I've known her. The care is second to none. Every staff member feels like a friend when visiting, it just feels like I'm going to a normal
home, with a lovely conservatory and amazing staff; who have time to talk. Brilliant! I can't recommend enough. As a family, we are overjoyedthat Mum is there. Grange Cottage is what a care home should be. Exceptional.

No Words on a review can replace my heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the loving care , compassion and dignity of my late mum . It really is a home from home and a big family of residents and carers .
The family are fully included with care and best decision making and feel re-assured when away .
The home cooked food is delicious and the care is so client focused and nothing is too much trouble . The activities for clients are bespoke and client led and fun and laughter is always around at Grange Cottage .
The emotional support for the family and the End of life journey is something that the manager and the team are exceptional at no-one is ever alone . It is such a privilege for mum to pass in such a special place as Grange Cottage .

The universe shone on my family when a room became available at Grange Cottage. My father moved in September 2024 and the manager made the process from transferring him from hospital to Grange Cottage incredibly smooth and supportive.
The care and support that my Dad and we as the family have received
has been wonderful. The overall atmosphere is like an 'extended family home', where kindness and genuine interest in each person prevails. I visit my Dad each day and am always greeted with a warm welcome and laughter. Each member of the staff team is happy to have a chat and answer any questions we have. They are also regularly in and out of Dads room making sure that he is okay, and that he has been able to enjoy the home cooked food. His room never smells and it's obvious that the staff ensure that he is clean, has brushed his teeth and had a change of clothes.
It may not have the hotel like facilities that other homes have but the care and support provided is outstanding.

The Grange Cottage is a delightful, homely and caring environment and one which was ideal for my Mum as she faced the challenges of dementia. The staff are exceptional and showed great professionalism in the way they looked after her which made our whole family feel they had Mum's best interests at
heart.
It's a small care facility, the building feels like a lived in home and the staff therefore have the opportunity to properly connect both with those in their care and their family and friends. Dementia is a difficult illness to endure and I thought the staff helped our family navigate the stages of Mum's illness as much as they helped Mum to do the same.
The facilities are good, and seem focussed on making it a home from home for our Mum and she settled there relatively peacefully as a result.
Mum passed away at the end of 2024 and we hold the greatest respect for the staff at Grange Cottage for the care and dignity they showed her throughout.

Grange Cottage, a home from home.
Genuinely a wonderful place full of so much love, warmth, caring and staff that go above and beyond. My dad was an amazing man, and deserved the best, and he got it in heaps. I never once had to worry about him, because he was so comfortable there and to him, it was
just an extension of his family. The end-of-life care was second to none and they made the difficult time easier for us both. Excellent. Also I must mention the care that was shown to me at the end of his life was amazing. This has helped me so much as I move forward.
If you are looking for genuine care for your loved one, where you will be respected and treated as a family member, then this is the place to be.

I’m a retired senior detective with experience in residential care homes in my professional life. I cannot speak too highly of this place. The owner and her staff are, quite simply, modern-day Florence Nightingale's. I am moved to tears every time I think of the compassion and care they showed to my
elderly father, who I adored all my life. He was reluctant to go into a care home and, in order to comply with his wishes, we left it rather late. When I was struggling to care for him myself, I took him to see the owner and the home. She went down on her knees to him and spoke with such compassion and patience that we both instinctively knew this was the place for him to be to receive the best possible loving care in the final days of his life. The owner and her staff didn’t just care for my dad at the most demanding and challenging time of his life. They took care of me too because they knew I was struggling to cope. Forever grateful to these exceptional people. Thank you so much.

Having viewed and experienced several care homes, I was in despair until I moved my partner, who has vascular dementia, to Grange Cottage. Most homes claim to treat people with dignity and respect. This is, sadly, far from the truth, but I can truly say that here there is genuine affection for residents
who are valued for who they are and were. Dementia issues are considered as minor problems to be solved for residents, never with impatience or reproach. All staff, led by an inspired, loving and compassionate hands-on owner, seem to regard relatives as their own extended family and treat them as such.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.292)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.292) out of 10 for Grange Cottage Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Grange Cottage Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grange Cottage Residential Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 9 registered maximum number of service users is 1.8, which has been reached with 4 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
