Lovely atpmsphere at the 'Old Vic'. Staff seem to really care about the residents and the care they recieve. A fun personal touch with proffessionalism. Mother really likes her room; on suite with a cracking view. Food is fab with a menu to choose from each day.

Tea/Coffee and biscuits - anything isn't 'too much trouble'..

Mother is happy at the Old Vic and I can rest easy safe in the knowledge that she is well looked after.

Although I live in Germany, I feel at complete peace, as I trust that I can rely on the staff. Because they are close to my cousin, they are aware of her needs or of any change - and they are always very prompt, when any action is required or needs to be reported. Also, I can call at any time, especially when there are concerns and immediate clarity is necessary: although I am far away, I am constantly updated and feel closely involved by the daily care procedures shown online ( a great service! ) - including the wonderful activities taking place from dog visits to singalongs! THANK YOU, ALL!

Mum has been attending The Old Vicarage 2 days a week since November 2025 and loves it. The care home has a welcoming and homely feel. It is warm, cozy and comfortable. Staff are friendly and caring and have taken the time to really get to know mum so they can chat to her about her interests and family. Mum has dementia and craves social interaction so chatting to staff and residents has been a huge positive for her. The activities on offer are wide and varied. Mum regularly participates in armchair ballet and various crafts. In the run up to Christmas she enjoyed the visit by local primary school children who sang carols; mum also helped to make mince pies. She was very touched to receive a birthday present, cake and card signed by staff and residents even though her birthday was on a day when she wasn't there. Mum has specific food requirements and TOV cater well for her needs. I am very impressed by the support and care given to mum and recommend the TOV highly.

Dad attends day care once a week. TOV is a lovely, friendly care home with plenty of activities to keep residents and day care visitors stimulated and engaged. They have quizzes, craft sessions, cookery, singers - too many to list. The staff are very friendly, caring, good fun and get to know their residents so that they know what interests them. Recently, they all dressed in costume for Children in Need. There are lots of seasonal events and family are invited to these - Strawberry Fayre in the summer with a live band, a bonfire and fireworks for Bonfire Night and I know there are theatricals planned for Christmas. These little touches make The Old Vicarage a very special place. Food is all home-cooked and very tasty. Dad received a specially baked birthday cake with card and gift for his birthday and even though it fell on a day when he wasn't at TOV, it was still celebrated which I know thrilled him. Dad always has lots to tell us when he comes home. Would definitely recommend.

My Father-in-Law has been coming to daycare at The Old Vicarage for a couple of months now. We are so grateful that we have found somewhere that he loves coming to (we have tried several alternatives before finding The Old Vicarage). The staff are warm, welcoming as well as professional. They make him feel at home, so much so that he walks straight in and to his favourite chair in the conservatory. The home provides daily acitivites which help to engage, bring back memories, provide social contact and enjoyment. He particularly loves the giant interactive TV screen they have for leisure and helping with activites. My father-in-laws enjoys the food that is prepared on premises and he is offered refreshments throughout the day. The app is a great feature to find out what he has been up to throughout the day and to understand the care that has been provided. I can't thank you all enough for welcoming Rob into this wonderful community.

My mum has just become a resident at the Old Vicarage in the last 10 days, and is settling in very nicely. I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and compassions shown by the staff, and always feel very welcome as a visitor. There is an amazing weekly activities plan, which engages mum and provides her with companionship. The staff provide extensive written notes in the daily care section of the Residents Portal, so I can see how she is doing, which is incredibly reassuring. The food sounds amazing, and from the oft-repeated phrase "ate all of their food" from the portal notes, I would say that mum agrees! We are so lucky that mum is able to be part of this community. This is the place I would choose for myself (but hopefully not for another 30 years or so!)

All staff go out of their way to make the environment warm and friendly with a wide range of planned activities and organised events.

My mum attends The Old Vicarage two days a week and loves her time there. She is always eager to go and looks forward to seeing the staff and residents. Mum always has lots to talk about when I pick her up at the end of the day. The staff are friendly, welcoming and kind. Mum's days are filled with activities, conversation and laughter. The Old Vicarage provides a varied and engaging day for those who go for daycare and the live-in residents. Mum always lets me know what she's had to eat and how much she has enjoyed it. I would, and have recommended The Old Vicrage to others.

My mother has been happily resident in the Old Vicarage, Allithwaite for over 5 years. The staff are like family, she has a light and airy room and the meals and entertainment are second to none. She feels safe and secure is never lonely and my mind is a peace that she is well cared for whatever the time of day and night. We, that is my 96 year old mother and I chose the Home together after strong personal recommendation, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. I feel very lucky to have found such a place close to home so I can pop in for a cuddle and chat with Mum whenever we need it. Long may it continue providing such a vital service.

The Old Vicarage is an old building, It is gradually being updated and redecorated. My sister and I have been welcomed from day one. My sister is unable to communicate, she is bilingual and also has Alzheimer's dementia, this causes extra challenges for the staff. They have made flashcards with short sentences, which I have translated and also photos of meals. This not only benefits my sister, but other residents with limited language or speech. The care manager is very involved with the residents and their family members. The residents have a choice of menus. Hot and cold drinks are offered frequently. Each morning and afternoon there are different activities offered and each resident help to reach their potential. At the weekend the activities are less structured, the residents seem very happy. There are security alarms on all the outside doors. I very much appreciate the internet connection. Overall this home is a very happy place. Often you hear laughter from residents and staff.

The care home is well run, staff very good plenty of things going on during the day.

I am just so pleased that the Old Vicarage was our first choice of care and support for mum. It's a very special place to be.

We spent 3 months looking for quality full-time residential care in south Lakeland/North Lancashire for Dad. Our prerequisites were for a small safe homely environment with attentive caring staff, high-quality food, stimulating activities, and access to a safe outside environment. Dad moved into the Old Vicarage in early August 2024 where the staff made a fantastic effort to settle him into his new environment. During this period feedback and communication were exemplary with several adaptions made to his environment and daily routines to enhance his care. He particularly enjoys a walk in the neatly tended garden and an occasional village walk accompanied by staff. The lunchtime dining experience is recommended with nutritious home-cooked food and always a surprise dessert. Our personal experience to date has been very positive and all staff made our Dad and family very welcome.

The Old Vicarage Care Home is just that. A caring home from home. My mother is treated with love and respect and all her needs are met. She attends here 2x weekly for daycare and for longer when a respite bed is available. She is well-fed, well-looked after and entertained.

As a sole carer, I feel very comfortable that they are sensitive to the needs of both of us and able to offer support appropriately.

My auntie now lives at The Old Vicarage and every time I visit I find the staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble, she is being well cared for and looked after to meet all her needs. It is a very comfortable and caring establishment. I always feel grateful when I leave that I have found such a nice place for her to reside in.

Very happy with the care that Mum is receiving - ever since she moved in (2019), she has been well looked after. During Covid, the house did an excellent job keeping the residents and staff safe. Thank you, and for the record, Mum seems to have more energy now than before she moved in.

My mother has lived at The Old Vicarage for over 4 years. She is contented and well cared for. It is a happy and friendly home and, without exception, the staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. It is noticeable that the owner puts the care of and facilities for the residents at the top of his agenda. He goes out of his way to do things for the residents to make their lives happier and more fulfilling. There is a good range of activities available daily and every effort is made to personalise the care. The food is very good. It is full marks to everyone that the home has thrived during the past few challenging years of Covid and short staffing. I would highly recommend The Old Vicarage to both future residents and staff.

Mum has been at The Old Vicarage for over 6 months and though she has Alzheimer's, she is enjoying the care that she receives, and the interaction she has with other residents and carers alike. She says, "there's always another cup of tea around the corner", which sums up the attentiveness of the staff. The surroundings are pleasant and clean, and homely - not institutional in any way. When I first started talking to staff about my mother going to live at The Old Vicarage, I was blown away by the fact that I was listened to, and not just talked at. They were keen to get to know Mum and what she liked so that they could continue helping her to enjoy her life. In short, Mum is healthier and happier than she had been in the last months, or even years of her living at her own home. Would I recommend The Old Vicarage to families in similar circumstances? You bet, I would! They are happy for families to visit - in my own case, on a very regular basis. Thanks to everyone involved.

I understand during Covid, it has been difficult, but the staff shortage was handled as best as it could be, but some minor errors were made regarding staff attitude. Nothing major, and still a great place!
