My Dad has been in Millbrook for the last 6 weeks. He had a Parkinson's diagnosis and is only 68 years old, so we were concerned that he might now 'fit in' mainly due to his age.
Since being in the home, Dad has transformed from a shy and often reclusive man, to the confident and bubbly person he
was many years ago.
Basics such as his cognition, communication and physical mobility have improved significantly. All the team cannot do enough for Dad and I always observe them interacting with others
Their new activities co ordinator is brilliant, he has been getting Dad to engage in lots of activities such as Gardening, bowls etc.
The food also looks and smells great & there's snacks throughout the day.
I've visit regularly, at varying times and the home is always clean, smells fantastic & staff are always engaging.
I am confident that Dad will continue to grow and thrive in Millbrook thanks to the staff, the beautiful environment and his renewed enthusiasm to live his best life

My father entered Millbrook in April 2021, he had Parkinson's and could only be described as a very challenging person. He had spent his life, walking the countryside chatting to people he encountered along the way. He loved his horses. The idea of being anywhere other than his home, and doing what
he loved was a complete anathema to him. I give you this background so that you can envisage the difficulties the staff encounter daily!
I visited frequently and it was apparent from the beginning that the staff treated him with respect and dignity. They quickly became aware of his likes and dislikes and his fear of being on his own and went out of their way to ensure that he felt he belonged there and had a place there.
Their contact with me was excellent. I was informed if there were any concerns in order that we could work together to alleviate them. He died there on 1.10.23 and I would not have wanted him to have been anywhere else. I'm very grateful for the care he received.

Looks good on the surface but get beneath the surface and it’s not that good.
Lack of support for residents. Social Media makes it look amazing but it’s not.
Very few good caring staff, most are poor. Management wants things to look good but doesn’t listen, always covering themselves and supporting

An excellent home and we cannot thank all the wonderful staff for looking after mum so well. Staff go above and beyond and know Mum is an individual. Activities were varied and inclusive and the garden is a lovely addition to the home. Would highly recommend.

Having previously cared for an elderly gentleman for 5 years, it was with some regret that his physical care needs, complicated with the onset of dementia, became too great to manage at his home and he had to be admitted, at the age of 92 years to Millbrook House, Blackwood.
However, my regret at
his admission, soon disappeared as the elderly gentleman quickly settled and I could see he was contented in the environment. I observed, during my many visits, the warm, close meaningful rapport, staff had developed with him, as he did with them. The elderly gentleman, who was a resident for 32 months before his death at the age of 95 years, consistently said how good the staff were and how grateful he was for the care and attention he received, adding the "meals were very good too".
The last 18 months of his life, were difficult for him as he had a range of common but significant illnesses in that period, but the staff amazingly helped him recover, through very challenging circumstances.

My father has now been at Millbrook Care Home for ten months before we settled on Millbrook we looked at many care homes in the area, but the friendly atmosphere and the genuine care for the residents as well as the pleasant and modern facilities that Millbrook had to offer made it stand out from all
in the area. Now after ten months we can say that we are fully satisfied we made the right choice. The management and staff are so caring and the residents are always put first, during the Coronavirus, the measures the home has taken has been reflected in the results with no residents testing positive. At the time I write this the management and staff are arranging my fathers 90th birthday, making all the arrangements from cake to buffet for all the guests and even Entertainment, all this at such a difficult time. If you are reading this review looking for a care home for someone in your family, I cannot recommend Millbrook highly enough, my father, and the whole family are delighted.

My mother is partially sighted and was living alone, feeling lonely, depressed and unsafe so in the summer of 2019 together we made the decision to look for longtime care. We were recommended Millbrook and we have all been amazed by the change in my mother's attitude to life, her demeanour and her wellbeing.
The staff of Millbrook are very caring and clearly aware of the individual needs of those residents in their care. My mother has been transformed from a ninety-year-old lady at her wit's end to someone who is enjoying life again in a friendly and welcoming environment. The care is first class and I cannot thank all the staff at Millbrook enough for giving my mother a quality of life she had gradually lost while living on her own. She has a choice of sharing her time with other likeminded residents or spending time in her own room when she prefers her own company. The care she receives is of the highest quality and she wants for nothing, whether it be specific medical or social care.

As a family, we would like to say how blessed we feel to have found such a wonderful home from home for our mother. Mam always looks like pin and paper whenever any of us visit at any time. She is so much like our mother again as we knew her. The manager must be congratulated on a well run and very
happily staffed establishment. It is hard to pick one member of staff out but the Activities Co-ordinator is perfect for her role! Mam is in great hands and we, as her family, couldn't be more happy for her! 10/10.

My dad has been a resident at Millbrook Care Home for the past few months. Since moving in he has received a high standard of care from all staff at the home. I am very impressed with the interaction between the staff and my dad. The staff and management are all very friendly and caring both towards
my dad and other family members when we visit.
There is a high level of cleanliness throughout the home and the attention to his personal care and hygiene is excellent.
It was a difficult decision for my dad to go into a residential home but the transition was handled very efficiently and he has settled in very well as a result.
I would not hesitate to recommend Millbrook to anyone.

Millbrook was recommended to us by a number of people who had had their own relatives living there. On our initial visit, my sister and I were made to feel welcome and secure by the manager and staff, leaving with the feeling that Millbrook was the right place for Mum's needs.

since February and is settled and happy due largely to the attention of the hardworking staff who are very friendly, caring and approachable. If there is any concern regarding Mum’s health/well being we are informed appropriately and medical help is sought when necessary.
Regular visitors include a hairdresser, chiropodist, optician, singers and a church group. There are regular craft activities and quizzes arranged. On special occasions such as birthdays, the Royal Wedding, Mother’s Day etc great effort is made for the entertainment and enjoyment of the residents and their families.
We are confident that Mum’s health and well being are catered for professionally and effectively.

It’s about time I left an informed view on the quality of care my mother has received since taking up residence at Millbrook. She has a lovely furnished room and whilst she tends to keep hereself to herself, I am aware that a range of activities are staged regularly for the residents. On special occasions,
such as the recent Royal wedding, a big fuss was made of the occasion, with a really lovely buffet provided for residents and visitors, as well as entertainment.
The Home is always decorated for other landmark events such as Halloween and Christmas.
Staff are always friendly and attentive, which really sets my mind at ease - thanks Millbrook for all you do on behalf of Ma..!!

Millbrook is a warm and friendly place with a culture for excellent care - my father has been a resident for 5 years during this time the staff have looked after him extremely well. The culture is led and nurtured both by the owner and matron who consistently set the high standards, always with the
objective of continually improving, which is diligently delivered by the staff, who work extremely hard. In my case I live away in France, so knowing my father is being looked after well due to the distance is even more important. I am in contact on a daily basis and kept up to date with all the relevant things I need to know, or things I need to do to ensure my father is getting the care he needs. My son visits my father often and also has a great dialogue with the entire staff. When things happen eg a medical issue or changing needs the response is rapid and relevant to solving the problem. I have no reservations in wholeheartedly recommending the home for new residents.

My father recently passed away, aged 88, at Millbrook Care Home Ltd, after a stay there of 16 months. As a family, we could not have wished for a better home for Dad to spend his remaining time, after needing care in 2016. The Manager runs a professional, modern, clean, efficient establishment, but
above all, one which is welcoming, friendly, loving and caring. Her staff, without exception, are friendly and very well trained, always with the resident's needs in mind. Medical issues were always promptly attended to, and the family kept informed immediately. I am sure that an environment such as this extended and enhanced Dad's life and it is a great source of comfort that he was able to spend his last days here, where the palliative care was second to none. We cannot thank the staff there enough, and would highly recommend, without hesitation, anyone needing residential care to opt for Millbrook.

My mother was resident at this home for over three years. The staff are very caring and professional. They create a warm and friendly atmosphere where residents are well cared for and stimulated with lots of activities. They treat every resident as an individual and their needs accordingly.

entered the home in a very disorientated and frail condition after spending over ten weeks in hospital. The staff worked tirelessly to help her adjust to her new surroundings and made her feel at home.
In addition, the management staff are very approachable and "hands-on". My mother was very happy and content at this home and I am so glad that a room was available when she needed it. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this home.

My dear Mam spent almost 18 months at Millbrook, she suffered from Dementia and COPD. Within the first week of her being at Millbrook, we knew we had made the right choice for her. They have an open door policy, so you can visit anytime during the day or evening. They have nothing to hide, they should
be very proud of what they have on offer and do for the residents. The staff make the home a wonderful place. In my experience nothing was too much trouble, the staff would do almost anything to accommodate my Mams requests/needs. She really felt it was like her own home. She felt safe and secure and was extremely happy there. Entertainment almost every day, be it craft, singing, quiz games, story telling, keep fit, visits by various artist, the list goes on. Sadly Mam passed away in February, the team nursed and cared for her right to the end. As a family, we hold them all in high regard, and can only praise the manager and her amazing team for the care they showed our lovely mother.

The manager and all the staff are very caring, dedicated and professional, and treat the residents with utmost care and thought. The whole atmosphere at Millbrook is one of a warm, welcoming place to be. The whole place is kept up to a very high standard, with rooms tastefully decorated. There's always
plenty to do during the day for the residents, with regular quiz days, visiting singers, or choirs, art classes, table tennis and much more.
I cannot fault it.

On our visit to Millbrook to see our friend Olwyn Morgan, My wife and I always comment on how as soon as you enter the atmosphere is so friendly. The staff are very polite and so involved with the residents.
