My family member has been resident at Plas Garnedd for some months now. They settled in quickly and are very content there.
Carers are attentive, food is good and the premises are well looked after.
My relative has had hospital visits and appointments which have been catered for in house.
My relative
would prefer to manage their own medication but we accept that this is not the practice at Plas Garnedd.
Reply from Dr Christopher Millward, Director at Plas Garnedd Residential Home Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that your relative has settled in so well, is content, and that you are pleased with our attentive care team, the food, and our support with hospital appointments.

Regarding medication, we fully support the independence of our residents wherever possible. To ensure everyone's safety, self-medication is managed through robust, individual clinical risk assessments, which we review regularly alongside residents and their families. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your relative's specific care plan with you directly at the home to ensure we are balancing their preferences with their ongoing safety. Thank you again for your valuable support.

My mother in law has been a resident at Plas Garnedd since February and has settled in well from the beginning thanks to all the caring staff. She tells us that she is well looked after on all levels from personal care, meals and company etc. She receives excellent care and despite staff always being
busy they will always find the time to listen. We find all the staff at Plas Garnedd approachable and they willingly answer any questions we may have.

My Father moved to Plas Garnedd in February 2026 from another care home. I am a retired nurse and have had experience of a number of care homes locally both for my mother who had dementia and passed away 2 years ago and more recently for my father. He had a lovely room it was warm and clean and comfortable
and he really enjoyed the food. There were always choices for him if something was not quite to his liking. My brother and I were made to feel welcome and I was kept informed if there were any problems. I understand the difficulties and emotional feelings involved when choosing a care home, from both a nursing and personal perspective. My father has recently passed away and I have written to the owners and manager of Plas Garnedd expressing my heartfelt gratitude to all the members of staff. My father was treated with compassion, respect and dignity especially in his final moments.
Reply from Dr Christopher Millward, Director at Plas Garnedd Residential Home Dear Jane,

Please accept our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you, your brother, and your family on the passing of your father. It was a true privilege for all of us at Plas Garnedd to care for him since February.

Receiving such kind words from you means an incredible amount to our entire team. We know that praise from someone with your professional nursing background, combined with your own personal experiences, speaks directly to the high standards of compassion, dignity, and care we strive to maintain every day.

I am so glad that your father felt completely at home in his room, thoroughly enjoyed his meals, and was treated with the utmost respect in his final moments. Thank you also for your deeply thoughtful letter. Your gratitude has been shared with the staff, and it has brought immense comfort to everyone who cared for him. Our thoughts remain with you and your family.

Review from Simon F (Son of Resident) published on 22 June 2026 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My 96 year old father, who passed away recently, became a resident at Plas Garnedd in February 2026 having previously been in another care home for nearly nine months. One of the main reasons for his move was Plas Garnedd's ability to provide a more personal level of care in a more residential setting
as opposed to clinical care which he didn't really need at that time.
The room he was allocated was far better than the one he had at the previous home, and although I don't live local to Plas Garnedd, my sister who lives on Anglesey and had arranged the move, kept me informed regarding the quality of care Dad was receiving.
When I did manage to visit, I was impressed by the standard of Dad's room and the overall aspect of the whole care home.
As Dad's health inevitably deteriorated, the end of life care he received by the staff at Plas Garnedd enabled him to pass quietly and with dignity.
Reply from Dr Christopher Millward, Director at Plas Garnedd Residential Home Dear Simon

Please accept our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you, your sister, and your entire family on the passing of your father. It was an absolute privilege to look after him at Plas Garnedd, even if only for a short time since February.

We always strive to provide a warm, personal, and genuinely comforting home-from-half-home environment, so it means a great deal to know we were able to offer the exact setting and space he deserved. Ensuring that our residents retain their dignity and peace at the end of their lives is the most sacred part of what we do, and I am so glad our team was able to provide that comfort to your father and reassurance to your family.

Thank you for taking the time to share these words during such a difficult time of loss. Our thoughts remain with you all.

My experience with Plas Garnedd has and currently is a very positive experience. When my Mother went to live at the home it was a very daunting experience for her and us - we did not know what to expect, However at every hurdle we have encountered every member of staff has listened, given appropriate
advice , guided us in the right direction if we have required more support. All levels of staff have made my Mother feel at home from day one when she was at times distressed and missing her home - always with compassion , dignity and respect.
The building is kept at a high quality of cleanliness, fresh, comfortable and suitable for older adults whom may have disabilities of physical health restrictions. We have been able to move a lot of our Mothers personal furniture from her home to change the room to make it more familiar to her. We as a family have been made very welcome and in the centre of her care.
Reply from Dr Christopher Millward, Director at Plas Garnedd Residential Home Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review, F. We completely understand that transitioning a loved one into care can be an incredibly daunting experience for the whole family, so it is deeply rewarding to hear how supported you all felt during those first few weeks.

Our team takes immense pride in delivering care centered around compassion, dignity, and respect, especially when helping residents navigate the emotional transition of missing their own home. It's also wonderful to hear that bringing in her personal furniture helped create that vital sense of familiarity.

We always strive to keep families at the very heart of the care journey, and your kind words mean the world to all levels of our staff. Thank you for choosing us to look after your mother.

My Mother has been a resident for 11 months, she is very happy in the home and enjoys the living there.
The staff are very caring, and she enjoys their company.
She has a nice room and has a few items of furniture which were in her own home.
She also has family photos on the wall.
She says that
the food is very good.
Reply from Dr Christopher Millward, Director at Plas Garnedd Residential Home Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a lovely review, Annwen. We are absolutely delighted to hear that your mother is so happy with us and enjoying the food!

We always want our residents to feel completely at home, so it's wonderful to know that having her own familiar furniture and family photos around her has helped her settle in so well. I will be sure to pass your kind words on to the care and kitchen teams; they take great pride in what they do and will be thrilled by your feedback. Thank you for your continued support.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.359) out of 10 for Plas Garnedd Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.809 for Plas Garnedd Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 68 Ratings = 4.809
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Plas Garnedd Residential Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
