Westerlands is an award-winning independent Residential Care Home for older adults, a Quality Care Provider and not-for-profit registered charity.

The home is situated in its own grounds of 12 acres, in a tranquil but central location in Stirling. It has strong local links and caters for a wide range of personal needs. Westerlands specialises in individual person-centred care and also supports people who are living with various stages of Dementia.

Westerlands has two lounges, a large dining room, a sensory/relatives room, sensory garden and games area in the back garden. Westerlands also has a large patio area in the front garden.

Westerlands is a Grade II listed building built in 1897 and has been operating as a Care Home for almost 75 years and will celebrate its 75th anniversary as a Care Home in 2025.

Carers are dedicated to provide person-centred care in a warm and homely environment. A third of staff having served in excess of 10 years. Westerlands do not use agency or bank staff, meaning continuity of care.

Residents eat home-cooked, nutritious meals which are freshly prepared by Westerlands staff who can also cater for dietary and cultural requirements. A full programme of activities and events is available to all residents seven days a week, such as hairdressing and mini-bus trips to local tourist attractions.

A nurse call system is installed to ensure the safety of all residents, although the aim of the staff is to respect residents' privacy.

Family and friends are encouraged to play a key role in the decisions affecting their relative and life in general within the Care Home.

I feel my mother is looked after extremely well in a safe and caring environment. Staff are always professional and approachable. I would highly recommend this care home.

Having had experienced poor care from a previous care home, I was very anxious when my mother required full-time residential care. We researched and visited several care homes and to be honest, nothing really jumped out, but when we entered Westerlands Care Home we immediately thought this was different,
and after speaking to the manager and doing the “home tour” we knew this was the place for my mother. The place felt and looked like a home and not an institution.


When my mother moved into Westerlands she started improving immediately. My mother came out of her shell, started showing her true personality and having fun.


The Westerlands people not only looked after my mother's needs but her visitors were made very welcome and made to feel as if they were part of the Westerlands “family”.


On a financial note, Westerlands were excellent value for money compared to other care homes. My mother was self-funding, so this was quite an important criterion.

My gran spent the last 8 months of her life as a resident in Westerlands after my grandad passed away very suddenly. We as a family were very wary picking the right home as we hadn’t had the best experience in the past whilst my gran was in respite! However, we knew as soon as we entered Westerlands
it was perfect for Gran. It’s such a homely place where we were all made to feel welcome by all staff and built a good relationship with them. Every week there were different things going on for the residents including an on-site hairdresser. My gran celebrated her birthday whilst there and a homemade cake was baked for her which was so thoughtful and such a lovely gesture and we all sang happy birthday along with the others residents. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and we knew we could sleep at night knowing our gran was being well loved and cared for.

Following the sudden death of my grandfather, who had provided care at home, we were forced to find alternative care for my grandmother. Having had a bad experience with respite in another care home, we, as a family, were anxious to find the right home.


From the moment we attended Westerlands for

an informal visit, we were made to feel welcome. The residents all appeared happy and active and the smell of home cooking made it feel even more homely.


The transition from home to care home was planned for and my grandmother was kept at the centre of these plans. The staff really took time to get to know her personally.


My grandmother thrived during her time at Westerlands, she was allowed the freedom to be herself, to make her wants known and to express her views. We were always welcomed during visits and really well cared for too.


I can’t thank the team at Westerlands enough for all they did for my grandmother and for us as a family.

My mother, who suffered from mixed dementia, was a resident of Westerlands for 4½ years until her passing. We found management and staff to be consistently welcoming, respectful and genuinely always having the best interests of the residents at heart. Like the building and grounds, Westerlands staff
have character as individuals - not corporate clones - yet are managed as a very effective team.
Westerlands quickly became a proper home for my mother and staff were excellent at managing times of distress as her condition worsened. Communication with us was always prompt and courteous. The care home may not yet have every mod con, though improvements are always ongoing, but their heart is absolutely in the right place with highly professional standards. We could rest much easier knowing that she was really well looked after and was as happy as possible given her illness.

As you open the door, I feel the care of the people towards residents and visitors is exceptional as I have been at other homes and have never felt that. This is most important as you worry that your relative is being cared for. In this instance, it's my sister. They take my sister out uptown etc. she
has her hair done and nails and any other things she wishes. They always keep myself and my daughter up to date if there is anything we need to know.

My mother who suffered from dementia was resident in Westerlands from 2011 until her death in April 2017. It is extremely homely and my mother settled very quickly into the pleasant surroundings.
The staff are very friendly and supportive and were especially helpful latterly when her health deteriorated.
Nothing was ever too much trouble and they were welcoming and prepared to spend time with the family. They are always looking to improve on already excellent care. The welfare of the residents always comes first.

My brother went into Westerlands Care Home on 25th April 2016 and was there until his death on the 1st October 2016. During that time, he was treated wonderfully by all members of staff and he spoke highly of them all. On my frequent visits, he often told me how everyone went out of their way to make
sure he and the other residents were well cared for.

Myself and my mum have been around some of the more modern care homes in the area, then we went to Westerlands in which my aunt is now a resident. It is the most homely place you could ever imagine. The staff are incredible and so welcoming towards residents and visitors. The care provided is second
to none. Meals, activities, outings and 1 to 1 care all are at a very high-level. Xmas parties a must, we had a great time, keep up the good work.
