Has been thoroughly enjoying all the different activities, this has made her interact with other people.

Although my mother has only been a resident for a number of weeks, she has settled in extremely well due to the care and kindness she has received from all staff members. All her physical and mental health needs are being met, and although encouraged to participate in activities, when she does not wish
to her decision is respected. In her own words, "she wants for nothing". As daughter of a new resident, I have found the Manager, Seniors and Care Staff excellent at communicating information I need to know about my mother's wellbeing, or about the Home in general. They were also very approachable and understanding of the initial stress and sadness experienced by both my mother and myself when she first became a resident, leaving her own home.

I can only say that I have been delighted with the care my dad has received since moving into Thorney Croft in June 2024. It was a traumatic time for myself when realising my Dad needed more care than I was able to manage. I was pleasantly surprised when visiting the home with the layout, rooms, communal
areas and how clean and fresh it was. My Dad has settled in well and has a great rapport with staff. They treat him with kindness, respect and are very caring towards him. I can and would approach staff if I had any concerns but up until now have had none. Having dreaded my Dad entering a care facility I can only say it has been very positive for my Dad and myself. Well done all!

Thorney Croft have provided very good care for my wife and greatly helped her recovery. The staff are very caring and have helped her come to terms with a situation that she finds difficult. They make sure I am included in her care and we both feel as if we are part of one big family.

I saw first-hand the care and attention provided to my mother and the other residents at their Mother's Day Afternoon Tea. Mum appeared to really enjoy herself. It was lovely to see the care provided in welcoming family members too and the Quiz organised by the Activities Coordinator which was great
fun but still maintained the residents’ dignity.

This care home is very good for the elderly, especially for people who cannot get around on their feet.
The things that need to be improved are the amount of staff on at weekends as firstly you cannot get staff to answer the door to let you in (waited 25 minutes once), and also elderly people needing
to go to the toilet have to wait on a 2nd staff member for help, and several times they have to go look for a hoist. Not very dignifying.

The care staff are always very attentive to my mother's needs. They have been through hell and back during Covid19. They deserve a pay rise for the job they do.
Limited activities due to restrictions.

The staff do an outstanding job - treating residents and their families with dignity. They are always professional and have a sense of humour. There are difficult times ahead for all care homes but I know they are committed to their work and it is so important people recognise how valued and appreciated
care workers are. It is important to highlight that within Thorney Croft there is a feeling of family and the enormous kindness other families extend to residents who maybe don’t have many visitors.

We cannot praise the staff at Thorney Croft enough. Every single one from management to cleaners and all care staff are kind, respectful and pleasant. They made Mum's transition into a care setting a very positive experience. Mum is happy, safe and settled in her surroundings. Mum is being cared for
by attentive staff who take the time to get to know her and her needs and they welcome our family in to visit regularly. We would highly recommend Thorney Croft for your loved one.

I think the staff are great but there are clearly not enough of them as I often see the residents just sitting in silence. While there are plenty of activities in the home in general, there are not enough staff to sit and talk to the residents, read with them, play dominoes etc. I'm sure the staff would
like to have time to do this.

My wife entered Thorney Croft on 9th January 2019 and from the word go, have nothing but praise for staff, including admin. After 54 years together, it was extremely difficult to adjust but the help and assistance given by staff have been exceptional in caring for my wife and supporting myself.
Nothing
appears to be too much trouble.
A very difficult situation made easier by people who very obviously care about what they do.

I visit my friend on a regular basis. My friend rarely complains about his care and on the evidence I have witnessed is always addressed politely and treated with dignity.
The staff are polite and pleasant towards myself. An update of his general wellbeing is more difficult as his folder is rarely
in his room and unless a senior is available, information is not shared.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.137)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.137) out of 10 for Thorney Croft is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.854 for Thorney Croft is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.854
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.283 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thorney Croft is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.583
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
