Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
I find staff in general very approachable and hardworking, however, low staffing has impacted on care provision with lots of minor matters like clothes going missing, table tops unwashed, poor stimulation of residents and poor care of belongings and individual needs as a result. The garden is a mess,
residents rarely get out to use it and as far as I'm aware there have been no recent trips out. My father is Compo Mentos but immobile and at times has no appropriate stimulation or company, mixing only with those who unfortunately, are suffering from dementia. Poor staffing levels & care of facilities = poor care.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Charnwood Lodge

Thank you for your feedback. We're pleased you find our staff approachable and hardworking. While staffing has been a challenge, care has always remained our top priority. We've recently recruited a second activity coordinator to help improve the social engagement and stimulation for all residents. We're also addressing concerns around personal belongings, cleanliness, and garden use as part of our ongoing improvements. We appreciate your comments and are committed to making positive changes.

Before coming to Each Step my Dad was being seriously let down by the care home he was living in. He was unkempt, malnourished and very lethargic as had no sleep at night time and had very little positive interaction with anyone around him. As a family we were heartbroken to see such an awful and rapid
decline which seemed to accelerate the dementia.
Thankfully he was moved to Each Step in July 2025. He settled in right away and was immediately put at ease. The staff supported us so well and started to quickly help him with his personal care so that he was comfortable and clean. I know my Dad feels safe as he's so happy now. He sleeps well most nights and all his care needs are met to a high standard. Just as my dad would want. We visit and he's perky, calm and comfortable. I can't thank the staff enough for their patience and kindness in looking after him. It means the world to us to know he's so well cared for.

Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We are incredibly grateful to know your Dad is now feeling safe, comfortable, and happy in our care. Allerton Park

from E H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 12 August 2025

My grandma has received disturbing treatment from this care home she suffers from advanced dementia and is very vulnerable she experienced what can only be described as medical neglect, emotional abuse, and repeated safeguarding violations. Despite raising serious concerns on numerous occasions with
the care home staff - no meaningful action was taken to ensure her safety, dignity, or comfort. As a result, her condition deteriorated significantly. The treatment she has received has caused deep concern, distress, and trauma to both her and our family. She has now finally been moved to a different care home to receive treatment after an assessment they have advised she has serious pressure sores described as so extensive and extreme that they said they had never encountered one that severe before this is from medical neglect from Allerton. My grandmother deserved dignity, respect, and proper medical care We are devastated, and don't want any other families to go through what we have.
Reply from Antony Hall, Managing Director at Allerton Park

I am sorry that you have felt the need to write this review. What you describe is not what we at Park Homes aim to achieve. We work closely with local authority and safeguarding agencies to ensure all our residents receive the care they deserve. If, on this occasion, you feel your grandmother's care has fallen below both your and mine expectations, I apologise. I would also like to offer you the opportunity for you to meet with me and my senior team to discuss. In the meantime, I have asked for your mother's care to be looked at and investigated internally so I can be assured about the care for all our residents in the home.

My mum has lived in St Catherine's for nearly 2 years and is cared for by some of the most passionate and wonderful people in the care community. The whole care home is a community and the staff know the people living there. My mums room is overlooking the central garden area and has the afternoon sun
with bushes and trees visible from her bed. We have a bird feeder by the window and it brings her delight to see the birds feeding. Close to being 95 there's not much you want other than to be looked after well and chatted to plus a chance to join in some of the great activities the care home staff put on. My mums meals are good and the staff encourages her to eat and drink, my mum has dementia and needs constant support that we feel St Catherine's offer her. She is cared for and checked upon regularly during the day and night. The facilities are clean and in good order, the care support is excellent, she is treated with respect and shown dignity. The new management is better.

I have visited my brother on three occasions this month and have found him clean, comfortable and happy. The staff treat him with respect and affection, and I am content in the knowledge that he has everything he needs. I had a long chat with two of his carers on my most recent visit, and I was impressed
by the care they gave him and the obvious warm regard in which he is held. The home has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and I have felt welcome on each visit.

We are delighted with the care & attention that Dad receives at Cornwall Park. It allows him to have a quality of life and enjoyment, that I don't believe he would have in his own home with carers. He has nothing to do but enjoy what's going on. He gets his newspaper delivered, loves his meals & enjoys
all activities & musical entertainment thats on offer. Staff are all so friendly, helpful, efficient & caring. They also so approachable. He is so well cared for we're always made very welcome, we've next to nothing do but enjoy visiting him! If Dad could wish for one thing it would be Sky TV so he could watch the golf.

The only thing I have trouble with is there doesn't seem to be any activities on when we go to see mum. The residents just seem to be left sitting around doing nothing. This is the only negative I have with care home.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Holly Park

Thank you for your feedback. We do have activities coordinators who run sessions throughout the day, but we understand there can be times when the lounges seem quieter. We'll take your comments on board and look at how we can keep residents more engaged during those quieter periods. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and want to ensure your mum feels involved and stimulated.

We find Holly Park Care Home very safe and clean. All the staff are very friendly, kind and caring and will go above and beyond to cater to the individual requirements of all the residents. They are very welcoming to the residents' families and visitors, and nothing is too much trouble. We are very
satisfied and would recommend Holly Park to other people. It has given us peace of mind to know and see how Holly Park staff have cared for and treated our family member.

My opinion of Holly Park Care Home is that when visiting greeted by staff who are pleasant and cheerful, always on hand to help anyone at any time, and give patients respect. The home is homely and well cared for, it's clean, meals are good, and they get well fed with a choice of meals at all times.
So it really is a good place for anybody to stay there.

Eccleston Court

My sister-in-law was very weak and very ill when she needed full-time nursing care. Eccleston Court was close, and after my initial inquiry, the manager called me directly to speak about her needs. The manager was very helpful indeed, and my sister-in-law was brought into nursing care within a couple
of days.
During her stay, the warmth and comfort provided by Eccleston Court staff were exemplary. I was with my sister-in-law on and off every day, and I can state from my personal experience that the level of care is was the very highest.
(Please note that my rating for food and drink is based on casual observation of what was provided to other residents. I don't know from personal knowledge.)

All I can say is read all cqc reports and findings. The home is run with untrained staff, understaffed, this home is definitely a business and not a well maintained care home, this sadly reflects the staff and there training, and the capability to care for the residents properly

Dad arrived at Eccleston Court after four difficult months in and out of hospital and another care home. He arrived there for end-of-life care and we were touched by the kind and warm welcome we received from everyone. We were astonished at how well Dad was helped to settle in and flourish in a calm
and peaceful environment for his last six weeks. Everyone we came into contact with was cheerful, caring and extraordinarily kind. Everyone was friendly and approachable. We found the management and nursing teams accessible, knowledgeable and a great support. We will never forget how much love and kindness we received during Dad's final hours and after his death and we will always be grateful.
