My sister has been a resident in the Claremont Nursing Home for the past fifteen months. Her condition varies according to her moods, which sometimes can be testing for those looking after her. The staff are kind and cheerful and she is well looked after. The home is very clean and the meals are well
cooked and nicely presented. I am always made welcome when I visit and appreciate what a good job they all do.Thank you.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Claremont Nursing HomeThank you for your kind review. We're delighted to hear that your sister is well looked after and that you find our team kind and welcoming. It's also lovely to know you're pleased with the cleanliness of the home and the meals provided. Your feedback means a great deal to our staff, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Very positive staff and atmosphere. Any issues with the room and the staff are always quick to respond and fix any problems. They've given her good birthdays and put on a good show by hiring a singer for the day (her 90th), which was thoughtful. They put good effort for festive seasons and spread a
good vibe, which gives a nice change for residents.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Hazel Bank Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased to hear that you enjoy the positive atmosphere in our home and that our team responds quickly to any concerns. It's wonderful to know that the birthday celebration and our seasonal events brought joy and made the occasion feel special. Your kind words mean a great deal to us and will be shared with the team!

Claremont staff are caring and helpful and do what they can to make my husband as comfortable as they can. Families are made welcome. The manager is very approachable and kind. The nurses are very good with medication and seem to have a reliable system in place The response time to residents buzzers
is good. There are communication problems. Some language difficulties. Instructions for personal care has to be constantly repeated. Personal items go missing despite written notices and labels. I don't think this is intentional. There is room for improvement with general cleanliness and personal care but my husband is content, cared for and safe in Claremont.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Claremont Nursing HomeThank you for leaving your review. We're glad to hear our staff are caring and helpful, and that your husband feels comfortable, safe, and well cared for. We appreciate your kind words about our manager and nurses, as well as the prompt response to residents' needs. We also take note of the communication challenges, personal care instructions, missing items, and cleanliness concerns, and are committed to improving these areas. Thank you for your feedback-it helps us continue to provide the best care possible.

Our mum has been cared for at the Hazel Bank Care Home for the last 13 months. I would just like to say the staff have been excellent, I don't think they could have possibly done more.
Rooms are fab, food is very nice, plentiful and also varied.
Marks out of 10 - 10!!
Thanks to all the staff for
looking after her.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Hazel Bank Nursing HomeThank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're delighted to hear that your mum has been so well cared for and that you've been happy with the rooms, food, and our team.
Your kind words and "10 out of 10" rating mean a great deal to us, and we'll be sure to share your thanks with all the staff.

Who would give old people curry for dinner, who would have a dog running round the care home like Hazel Bank? The place is not very clean, and the rooms are shabby. The lift is always breaking down. The back stairs are filthy; this place is not worth the money patients pay. It needs a good clean or
closing down. It smells awful.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Hazel Bank Nursing HomeThank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. Cleanliness, maintenance, and odour control are taken very seriously, with regular checks in place and any concerns followed up promptly.
Our resident dog is much loved and brings great comfort and enjoyment to many residents. The dog does not attend every day, but residents enjoy interacting with and walking the dog in the gardens, and often express how much they miss the dog when it is not present.
All menus are based on resident choice. We hold weekly resident engagement meetings where residents discuss and choose meals, ensuring dishes such as curry are only included when residents have requested them, with alternatives always available.
Lift reliability and communal areas are closely monitored, and we apologise for any inconvenience experienced. We remain committed to providing a comfortable, respectful home and welcome you to discuss any concerns directly with the home manager.

I visited my friend several times over a few months that she lived at Hazel Bank. The home felt depressing and was in need of brightening up. There was a permanent smell of urine in the lounge areas, and the place looked very tired.
Residents often looked unkempt and my friend's clothes went missing
after despite being labelled. On one occasion my friend (who had dementia) picked up a pad which was soiled with faeces and had been left in the lounge.
There appeared to be very little stimulation for residents.
Some staff seemed to be caring , others sat looking at their phones.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Hazel Bank Nursing HomeThank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that your perception of Hazel Bank did not meet expectations.
Hazel Bank has recently undergone refurbishment to improve the environment and facilities for residents. The home operates in line with regulatory standards, and cleanliness, infection control, and resident dignity are monitored and audited regularly. Any concerns raised are taken seriously and investigated in accordance with our safeguarding and quality assurance procedures.
Staff use work-issued mobile devices solely for our electronic care planning system to document care, observations, and daily records in real time. Personal use of phones during working hours is not permitted.
We recognise the importance of meaningful engagement for residents and continue to review activity provision to ensure it meets individual needs.
We value feedback as part of our ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

I do not recommend Hazel Bank Care Home. When reading previous reviews I had to check I was looking at the right service as they are so different to what I saw when my friend lived there up to recently. I am staggered to see that it has just been rated overall 'Good' by CQC & feel I have to write this
review so people have an accurate picture from my direct experience of the service. The environment is depressing & scruffy , there is never a pen to sign in, nor information displayed to show staff names & photographs. My friend's (labelled) clothes were constantly going missing & often lost, when the lift broke down some people had to sleep in the dining room over the weekend. My friend's lifelong dietary preferences were not always respected, care needs were not always met - eg pressure sores developed, toenails were overgrown. Some staff were very good, others showed little interest in the residents. The glowing review on the Hazel Bank website is for another named home.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Hazel Bank Nursing HomeThank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.
All concerns raised were reviewed through the appropriate governance and safeguarding processes and were formally closed. Hazel Bank Care Home continues to be monitored by external professionals and was most recently rated Good overall by the CQC.
We remain committed to providing person-centred care and to learning from feedback to continually improve our service. Should you wish to discuss this further, please let us know.

My brother was at Holly Park Care Home in Clayton, Unfortunately he was there because he had Dementia, At the beginnig he appeared happy there and the food was good, However, at the beginning of July, 2025 he suffered terrible injuries which were broken hip, pelvis, ribs and vertabrae. The Care home
said that he had had a fall and they didn't know how it had happened!! My brother has had to have two operations, suffered pneumonia and infections whilst being in hospital where he has been for over three months.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Holly ParkYour brother was a much valued resident at Holly Park Care Home - he was mobile and independent around the home, happy, content, and well settled. He enjoyed his meals and had regular daily communication with his family. He was thought of very fondly by all the staff.
The fall was entirely unexpected, a full investigation was carried out immediately. The incident was reported to both the Local Authority Safeguarding Team and the Care Quality Commission (CQC). While our team is trained to minimise the risk of falls, unfortunately they cannot always be prevented.
If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our Home Manager directly.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the staff really care about people. Everyone seems really helpful and kind. It was not a pleasant move having to put mum into care, but we are confident it was the right thing to do because of the way the staff treat the residents.

My grandma has received disturbing treatment from this care home she suffers from advanced dementia and is very vulnerable she experienced what can only be described as medical neglect, emotional abuse, and repeated safeguarding violations. Despite raising serious concerns on numerous occasions with
the care home staff - no meaningful action was taken to ensure her safety, dignity, or comfort. As a result, her condition deteriorated significantly. The treatment she has received has caused deep concern, distress, and trauma to both her and our family. She has now finally been moved to a different care home to receive treatment after an assessment they have advised she has serious pressure sores described as so extensive and extreme that they said they had never encountered one that severe before this is from medical neglect from Allerton. My grandmother deserved dignity, respect, and proper medical care We are devastated, and don't want any other families to go through what we have.
Reply from Antony Hall, Managing Director at Allerton ParkI am sorry that you have felt the need to write this review. What you describe is not what we at Park Homes aim to achieve. We work closely with local authority and safeguarding agencies to ensure all our residents receive the care they deserve. If, on this occasion, you feel your grandmother's care has fallen below both your and mine expectations, I apologise. I would also like to offer you the opportunity for you to meet with me and my senior team to discuss. In the meantime, I have asked for your mother's care to be looked at and investigated internally so I can be assured about the care for all our residents in the home.

I have visited my brother on three occasions this month and have found him clean, comfortable and happy. The staff treat him with respect and affection, and I am content in the knowledge that he has everything he needs. I had a long chat with two of his carers on my most recent visit, and I was impressed
by the care they gave him and the obvious warm regard in which he is held. The home has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and I have felt welcome on each visit.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Holly ParkThank you for your kind words. We're so pleased to hear that your brother is happy, comfortable, and well cared for. The only thing I have trouble with is there doesn't seem to be any activities on when we go to see mum. The residents just seem to be left sitting around doing nothing. This is the only negative I have with care home.
Reply from Georgea Buckle, Operations Executive at Holly ParkThank you for your feedback. We do have activities coordinators who run sessions throughout the day, but we understand there can be times when the lounges seem quieter. We'll take your comments on board and look at how we can keep residents more engaged during those quieter periods. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and want to ensure your mum feels involved and stimulated.

Mum is a long term resident, and is self funding. She has Alzheimer's and is becoming increasingly frail.
Due to the pandemic, we did not get to choose a care home. Social Services did, but we were lucky. Mum is well looked after, treated with kindness, patience and affection. Any problems are dealt
with promptly.
Mum is always appropriately dressed in clean clothes.
Holly Park has an upbeat vibe thanks to the HCAs, and the recent refurbishments are interesting and exciting.
I have full confidence that Holly Park will endeavour to continue to keep Mum as safe and as comfortable as possible as she inevitably declines.
