I would just like to thank all staff at the care home including cleaners cooks my mum was involved in a bad accident which was caused by someone else but would like to say that the care she got when she came out of hospital was second to none from being told she might not survive an operation to finding
her dancing and singing in her room was fantastic and that was was down to the love and care she got of everyone in the home if you are looking for a home for a family member please give this home a visit again I would just like to say thank you to everyone

My dad was transferred here after a lengthy spell in hospital due to his ever increasing dementia. I had visited the home the day before his intended transfer to put some familiar items in place for him, then he was unexpectedly re admitted to A and E this delayed his arrival here for a week, this was
not a problem to the care home and his room was kept for him. On his arrival at the home it was just amazing, every member of staff is lovely, they really do care about their residents, nothing is any trouble. The home itself is well maintained, kept spotlessly clean, warm and homely. I am so glad my dad is being looked after here 10 out of 10!

My mother moved in on March 2024 due to her requiring full time care. She was local to the home so this made it easier for friends and family to visit, some of the care workers knew her personally so this was also a benefit. She was a bit confused at first with her new surrounding's but the care workers
showed experience in getting her settled in. She tells me everything and all the care workers are good. She is always in the lounge area with fellow residents which is good for her. The nurse always contacts myself with any medical updates and permission for any injections my mother may require. They have entertainment shows which helps her as she likes a good singsong. The food always looks good anytime I visit and there's always tea and cake whenever she likes. She has her hair done most weeks and always looks tidy and clean. Its getting harder for the care workers to move my mother as they need two people due to her physical disabilities but they always seem to cope.

My dad was in Duncraggan Care Home for a planned 10-day respite stay while we were getting work done in his house.
Dad wasn't keen on going in, even for just a short time; however, our family can't thank the staff enough for making him feel so comfortable and at ease during his visit; they made him
feel like part of the family.
Both the management and every member of staff were excellent from start to finish making our job of getting everything done from him coming home a lot easier.
Again can't thank them enough.

Just want to say a big thank you to all the managers and carers at Duncraggan Care Home. My mum has lived there for a number of years now, as did my dad who spent his last days there. In unprecedented times during the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff have been exceptional in the care of my mum. I live
south of the border and have not been able to get up to visit Mum. The staff have kept in touch with the family informing us about my mum’s well being and they have kept the residents safe during this time. They make a special effort to keep up morale. They are always there for their relatives too. A heartfelt thank you to you all.

Mum, spent the last ten months of her life in this lovely cosy, homely care facility. She had a good rapport with nursing and care staff and was looked after extremely well.
In her last days, she received excellent palliative care and the staff were very supportive to myself as I stayed with her in
the 3 days before her death, offering food and drinks and a lending ear. She was treated with dignity and respect and I'm grateful to the staff who took over her care when it was no longer feasible to do so in her own home. It allowed my brother and myself to start regaining our own physical and mental health after years of caring and getting our own lives back. Many thanks to all at Duncraggan for all the kind care shown to my mum.

My mum has been a resident in Duncraggan for a number of years. During this time she has been very well cared for by all staff. Recent changes with the new manager and staff team, the standard of care has been improved to an excellent standard.

In my job, I spend time with people with additional

care needs. I would want my mum cared for the same way as I would care for her myself, the staff at Duncraggan give exceptional care, attending to detail like personal care, clothing, warm and safe environment, that means a lot to us as a family. A big thank you to all the staff and special thank you for the recent introduction of family events e.g Hogmanay, burn supper that gave the opportunity to enjoy special time with mum in a social event, she could interact and enjoy with her family.
I would recommend Duncraggan to anyone who wants to know their loved one is being cared for to an exceptional level of care. Thank you to all the staff past and current for providing the best care for mum.

My Husband has been a resident at Duncraggan Care Home since September 2016.
He is receiving excellent care of a very high standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful they cannot do enough for my husband and I.
They have an excellent manager, but every member of staff is so good to both my husband
and myself, we are treated with the utmost of respect and dignity. This is important as it makes me feel less stressed and can enjoy visits with my husband.

I cannot describe the support from Janine and her staff throughout the last 18 months. Not only looking after my mother but involving my father in every way they could, allowing them to maintain their close relationship to the very end. They were all instrumental in making their final months together
amazing and memorable in equal measure.
I would recommend this friendly, caring residence to anyone. Your loved one will be cared for and cherished.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.613)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.613) out of 10 for Duncraggan Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.913 for Duncraggan Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.913
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Duncraggan Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’ve worked in Duncraggan for 3 years, this was my first job in healthcare after working in retail and beauty. I love working in Duncraggan, my favourite thing about the home is how it feels like a second family. Working in a smaller-sized home gives us more time to get to know the residents and build relationships with them. I'm proud to be part of a great team.
