An excellent home and care provider. The owner is very personable and caring in how she deals with residents and family. There is great communication and also a very homely feeling to the care home. Hygiene and personal care are of a high standard. Activities and efforts to take residents out and about are varied and enjoyable, happening regularly.

There is a wide range of activities planned to stimulate, entertain and include the residents.

Barrhall Home provides my mother with a home from home. The staff are kind and helpful to her and to me in every way. The care my mother receives is excellent. The home itself is spotless and I am completely confident that there is nowhere better. The stimulation and events that are provided... exercise, music, talks on many subjects, days out etc., are so worthwhile and interesting.

I have found the care in Barrhall Home to be exceptional from all levels of staff, particularly their manager. My uncle is assessed daily with individualised care to meet his physical, social and psychological needs. There are lots of twice daily activities such as puzzles, games, reading, making a bird feeder from wood for the garden for all the residents and making food balls for the birds. Bird watching with his own binoculars and lots of group work and discussion about topical issues aimed to his level of understanding. Outings to visit the sunflower farm and the aquarium. Visits from motor bike enthusiasts and he loved painting and drawing. Enjoys movies and dancing to all sorts of music with the weekly entertainment. He is very happy there and very loved.

Mum was well catered for over the Christmas period. There was hardly a day without a special activity: helping with decorating the home, visits by local primary schools, choirs, trips out, Christmas dinner and lots of fun.

Good continuity of care provided by an obviously happy and committed workforce. Good standard of individualised care. Clean, homely environment but what stands out is the attention to providing stimulation and interests for residents. My mother has flourished since her arrival in Barrhall Home despite suffering from dementia. I am confident that she is safe, happy and well cared for under the home management.

Barrhall Home exceeds all my expectations. The care the staff give to the residents is second to none. Each day is filled with stimulation, activities and entertainment which is there for the resident should they wish to partake. The staff spend time getting to know the residents and the atmosphere is most certainly home form home. My family and I are so reassured that our cousin is safe in the best place and we are extremely grateful to the manager and all the staff for making this possible.

Mother-in-law has been a resident in Barrhall Home for eighteen months now and she has been well looked after. The home is clean and fresh at all times and my mother-in-law's room is lovely and comfortable and kept very clean. The staff are excellent and very good at looking after all the residents. The manager is very good, approachable and always keeps us updated. The home has lots of activities going on each day which is great for the residents. We can't thank the staff enough for the care they provide.

My mother has dementia and has been a resident for over two years. She is always well-presented and appears very content and settled. The staff are very warm and caring and ensure all her needs are met. Any health concerns are promptly addressed. The manager is very supportive and accessible. The home is very clean and well-kept and visitors are always made to feel welcome. A high level of stimulation is provided by a wide variety of social activities throughout the week and also occasional trips to local amenities. We are very happy with her care.

Amazing care home with amazing staff who go the extra mile. My father loves it here and I know he is safe and extremely well cared for. The food is delicious. The facilities are impeccable. The activities are well-planned and frequent. I couldn't be happier with Barrhall Residential Home.

In short, the manager is an extraordinary person and her staff follow by example. My mummy is in the best place ever and I can only be grateful for the standard of care thus far.

Barrhall Home is great! The team has made my mum feel at home, keeps us in the loop and has been super supportive. The location is also very peaceful and Mum likes being by the loch/going into Portaferry. Thank you!

I have found all of the staff friendly, caring and professional. They have made my father feel happy and content in his new home. Their medical care for his particular needs has been excellent, and they have delivered him a very personal package. They have also made me and the rest of my family who visits very welcome. Barrhall itself is a lovely, comfortable place - home-from-home. Barrhall certainly delivers a five-star service.

My father has been in Barrhall for two and a half years, and he has been happy during his stay. The staff are warm and caring, and the manager does a super job. She has gone out of her way to try to meet his needs, and it is much appreciated. The home is kept very clean, and my father enjoys the food. The location is beautiful!

A family member was a resident in Barrhall residential home for over 3 and a half years until he passed away in September. From his first days in Barrhall, his life was transformed from a lonely existence to becoming a much cared for member of the Barrhall 'family'. His physical care was second to none and, despite the lockdown, all efforts were made in terms of distraction, entertainment and encouragement. Shortly before he passed away he was keen that his gratitude should be passed to all staff in Barrhall.

Brilliant staff and great care were given to her throughout her stay. Always kept up to date with any issues from all staff and home manager at all times.

My 86-year-old sister has been a resident since March 2022 and has improved immensely due to the professional care from all staff under the management. My wife's uncle resided in Barrhall until the wonderful age of 93 years old and had wonderful care there. So this is why I wanted my lovely 86-year-old old sister to be looked after in such a loving and caring home as Barrhall.
