Would thoroughly recommend Ty Hafod to anyone needing care. The staff are always friendly, kind and really took an interest in my mother-in-law. The process of getting a loved one into permanent care can seem daunting, but the manager was extremely helpful in guiding us through the process. Whilst the decor in the rooms may be a little old-fashioned, the cleanliness is excellent. And after all, which is most important! My mother-in-law was always kept very clean and regularly changed, despite being bedridden. Thank you very much to a wonderful team!

My Mum became a resident in April of this year. She was in the last stages of dementia and had been cared for by my brother and his wife for 3 years. After several weeks she was admitted to hospital and was very poorly for 6 weeks. She went back to Ty Hafod Care Home and passed away 8 weeks later. During that time she was very well cared for by all the staff. She needed a lot of care which included feeding and eventually turning in the bed before she passed away. I sat with Mum for a number of days as did my sister-in-law and I was very impressed with the care and kindness of the staff including the cleaner who did a very good job. It was a huge decision for us as a family to put Mum into care so would just like to say a big Thank You for all the care that you gave to her.

All the staff are friendly and caring and have always been happy to talk to us regarding any issues regarding my mother's care. The home managed the pandemic well, caring for the residents under difficult circumstances and were very helpful when I had any queries. The food is very good, according to my mother and I feel that the place is secure, yet welcoming.

I have been to many homes to find another home for my husband who had a severe stroke in 2019. He was desperate to be nearer the family. As I walked into the home, I was welcomed by the cleaner, carers and kitchen staff as they went about their daily routine. I witnessed a rapport and affection between residents and staff that was beautiful. The carers were in the communal room, working but there was a family atmosphere which cannot be staged. Immediately, the manager made me feel relaxed and optimistic. She leads the team professionally and discusses issues with residents, family and carers. My husband has been urged to try to do more, he had become reclusive. He has agreed to do things here where previously his assessment of capacity lead him to be left in his room. They are giving him back a sense of himself, that he is a valued member of the community he has joined. He loves having his dog visit him regularly. It's lovely to see that she too is benefitting from seeing him.

Ty Hafod Care Home is a very warm and friendly place that exudes a lovely homely feel as soon as you enter the premises. My mother has only recently moved into this care home, and all the staff there have made her feel very welcome, which has helped her settle into her new surroundings very quickly. The manager has also been excellent in taking time out to make my mother feel very comfortable and relaxed in communicating to her the high standard of service levels that is expected by all staff working there. Ty Hafod is a very clean and well laid out care home that provides eating areas and communal TV rooms, allowing residents to interact when they are happy to do so. The private rooms are very spacious and have a lovely view of the surrounding rural countryside area, which is very peaceful and quiet. The wide selection of food provided to all the residents is very good and is of a high standard. Overall, I am very happy to have my mother reside here.

Visited on 20th April to find a suitable nursing home for Mum, who has been in hospital for three months. Received a very warm welcome from the manager, who showed us a lovely, bright room with countryside views and gave us a detailed account of how the home was run, including a fabulous menu and activities available to residents.

My mum has been at Ty Hafod since just before Christmas, and she has settled in really well. The home is small and feels very warm and welcoming. It is reassuring to know that my mum is being looked after so well, and we are always updated with any issues or concerns. I feel that the staff and carers genuinely care for my mum. The staff are compassionate and already know my mum very well, which is very reassuring during this difficult time.

Ty Hafod has supported us to continue visiting our mother over the last few months, with precautions in place. We are very appreciative of this as some care homes have stopped visits completely. We also feel that the staff have worked hard to support my mother and provide additional internal activities during this time.

Our friend of 50 years moved to South Wales from Hanbury, Bromsgrove almost 2 years ago. His wife had died and with no family or friends as such, we took the decision to have him near us so that we could visit most days and take him out. From the very first day, the staff at Ty Hafod have been so good with him, he can be most difficult, to say the least. They all seem to have a 'way' with him. Without their care, I think he would have given up on life, whereas he enjoys life.

My mother was in hospital with Parkinson's related illness for 4 months. She arrived at Ty Hafod the week before Christmas and has been there under 5 weeks, the improvement has been incredible. We can't thank the staff at Ty Hafod enough. She was walking and painting again and is relaxed and happy. This home is an example to others on how a care home should be run, managed and staffed. As a family, we love visiting her here. Thank you to everyone who works there. We looked at 5 other homes and are so pleased we picked Ty Hafod.

Mum received fantastic care and attention while she was being looked after at Ty Hafod until she passed away in the middle of November 2017. From the day she arrived, everyone made a fuss of her as she slowly settled into her new “home”, and it really was her second home!

We knew that her life was limited by her illness but she lived it to the full thanks to the understanding and wonderful care from the staff. They could not do enough to make her stay as comfortable and as stimulating as possible. There was such a homely atmosphere there and it felt as though we were all part of one big family.

Our 92-year-old Dad was welcomed whenever he went to visit Mum and often they ate lunch together on Sundays. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary there and the chef made a beautiful celebration cake which was shared with all the residents.

We have no hesitation in recommending the home and the caring staff - you will not find better!

Ty Hafod is a fairly small home 5 minutes north of Cardiff. I've always been impressed to be greeted by name and told which part of the home Mum was in when I arrived, indicating that they're keeping a close eye on everyone at all times.

My Mum spent 3 happy years here in this welcoming and very friendly home. The care and support has always been excellent, but in the last few weeks when Mum entered end of life care, all of the staff surpassed their already very high standards, not just for Mum, but in supporting me as well. Witnessing the level of care and concern for her welfare and dignity has made a very difficult few weeks so much easier to bear. I've never doubted that I'd chosen the right home for Mum and this view has been reinforced by the exceptional level of care we've experienced recently.

I would recommend Ty Hafod to anyone looking for a safe and friendly home; the outstanding care is reinforced by excellent food and a very high level of cleanliness.

This was my first visit to the home. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Whilst the home is not modern, it felt very homely and comfortable. The staff treated my aunt with respect and used her name, when addressing her. When I asked if my aunt could rest on the bed staff said 'of course, she can do whatever she likes, this is her home', what a lovely comment. The visit was helpful to me, seeing her comfortable and happy. All staff and management I encountered were lovely.

I feel that my mother is being cared for as well as she could be anywhere else. Some of the staff manage to remember and find the time to care for her mental state also by providing her with her preferred viewing on the TV and music on the radio, (for when i usually leave) a list of TV programmes that she may like- my mother has no means of communicating her wished so it is great when staff do this for her.
