I find the home very accommodating for the residents and very helpful to relatives and visitors alike. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you. I would be very happy to have any relative of mine in Ty Haford.

Ty Hafod has supported us to continue visiting our mother over the last few months, with precautions in place. We are very appreciative of this as some care homes have stopped visits completely. We also feel that the staff have worked hard to support my mother and provide additional internal activities
during this time.

Our friend of 50 years moved to South Wales from Hanbury, Bromsgrove almost 2 years ago. His wife had died and with no family or friends as such, we took the decision to have him near us so that we could visit most days and take him out. From the very first day, the staff at Ty Hafod have been so good
with him, he can be most difficult, to say the least. They all seem to have a 'way' with him. Without their care, I think he would have given up on life, whereas he enjoys life.

My mother was in hospital with Parkinson's related illness for 4 months. She arrived at Ty Hafod the week before Christmas and has been there under 5 weeks, the improvement has been incredible. We can't thank the staff at Ty Hafod enough. She was walking and painting again and is relaxed and happy.
This home is an example to others on how a care home should be run, managed and staffed. As a family, we love visiting her here. Thank you to everyone who works there. We looked at 5 other homes and are so pleased we picked Ty Hafod.

My husband required a great deal of care and kindness he has all this from all the staff, I can leave him each visit knowing that he is in such good hands. This is an exceptional care home and I feel very fortunate to have secured a placement for him.
You, as a company are very fortunate to have such
a care home in your domain. Excellent staff with a lovely family atmosphere at all times. Thank you.

Mum received fantastic care and attention while she was being looked after at Ty Hafod until she passed away in the middle of November 2017. From the day she arrived, everyone made a fuss of her as she slowly settled into her new “home”, and it really was her second home!

We knew that her life was

limited by her illness but she lived it to the full thanks to the understanding and wonderful care from the staff. They could not do enough to make her stay as comfortable and as stimulating as possible. There was such a homely atmosphere there and it felt as though we were all part of one big family.

Our 92-year-old Dad was welcomed whenever he went to visit Mum and often they ate lunch together on Sundays. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary there and the chef made a beautiful celebration cake which was shared with all the residents.

We have no hesitation in recommending the home and the caring staff - you will not find better!

Ty Hafod is a fairly small home 5 minutes north of Cardiff. I've always been impressed to be greeted by name and told which part of the home Mum was in when I arrived, indicating that they're keeping a close eye on everyone at all times.

My Mum spent 3 happy years here in this welcoming and very

friendly home. The care and support has always been excellent, but in the last few weeks when Mum entered end of life care, all of the staff surpassed their already very high standards, not just for Mum, but in supporting me as well. Witnessing the level of care and concern for her welfare and dignity has made a very difficult few weeks so much easier to bear. I've never doubted that I'd chosen the right home for Mum and this view has been reinforced by the exceptional level of care we've experienced recently.

I would recommend Ty Hafod to anyone looking for a safe and friendly home; the outstanding care is reinforced by excellent food and a very high level of cleanliness.

This was my first visit to the home. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Whilst the home is not modern, it felt very homely and comfortable. The staff treated my aunt with respect and used her name, when addressing her. When I asked if my aunt could rest on the bed staff said 'of course, she
can do whatever she likes, this is her home', what a lovely comment. The visit was helpful to me, seeing her comfortable and happy. All staff and management I encountered were lovely.

The service and care given in this home by every member of staff, both day and night is quite incredible. The love and devotion shown to all the residents is beyond the realm of duty. This includes everyone from cooks, cleaners, laundry ladies, nurses and carers. Every member of staff are always ready
to help. I am so lucky to be here and now look upon Ty Hafod as my home.

I feel that my mother is being cared for as well as she could be anywhere else. Some of the staff manage to remember and find the time to care for her mental state also by providing her with her preferred viewing on the TV and music on the radio, (for when i usually leave) a list of TV programmes that
she may like- my mother has no means of communicating her wished so it is great when staff do this for her.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.209)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.209) out of 10 for Ty Hafod Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.783 for Ty Hafod Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.783
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.426 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ty Hafod Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.4 = 0.926
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
