My mother is cared for very well, since she has been a resident I have been able to sleep at night in the knowledge that the care provided for her is many times better than that which she was receiving while in her own home. All staff are patient, respectful and kind- care is paramount and can be plainly
seen. Thank you and happy Christmas. xx

My father moved into St Joseph's Care Home under the care of a Hospice for end-of-life palliative treatment. The care he received was excellent - he was made comfortable and treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
As a family, we spent most of our time in the care home during this short period,
and every member of staff we met was so kind. The nurses were professional, responsive, and provided the highest level of care. Their compassion towards us as a family made what was such a difficult time more bearable.
Every cup of tea, piece of cake, biscuit, kind word, and hug made a difference. These small acts of kindness meant so much and helped us through.
We are deeply grateful to all the staff for their wonderful care and support. Thank you so much.
Reply from Jonet Ilagan, Manager at St Joseph's Nursing HomeDear Joanne, thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. Wishing you and your family comfort, peace, and strength, and thank you again for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review.

Mum was a resident at St. Joseph's having arrived from hospital in a frail state, with pressure sores and skin issues. The staff there were fantastic. They treated her with real care, her physical state improved quickly compared to hospital and they made an effort to engage with her to ensure she felt
at home. She quickly got attached to some of the staff who were kind and supportive and able to cheer her up on difficult days. The food was excellent- fresh and varied and cooked beautifully. Small touches- things she needed always within her reach, cake delivered to her in the afternoons, vases being provided when we brought flowers- all added to her comfort. Whenever I visited, they were able to update me, answer questions and treated both her and her visitors with consideration and kindness. It is an excellent care home with fantastic staff.
Reply from Jonet Ilagan, Manager at St Joseph's Nursing HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. The team will be delighted to know their kindness and the little touches made a difference. We always want families to feel welcomed and informed, so your feedback truly means a lot. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

Mum has been at St Joseph's now for over eighteen months. She continues to receive excellent care from very supportive and caring staff. The whole team at St Joseph's are wonderful I.e the managers, administrators, nurses, care workers, cleaners and everyone else. We couldn't want more for mum, knowing
she is being looked after in such a warm, safe and secure environment.

My mum was a resident in St Joseph's for 18 months. All the staff were very kind and caring towards mum. They would often go and have a chat with her and support her when she was tearful.
They also had time for me if I needed to talk. I can't thank them enough.
Reply from Michelle Montealegre, Deputy Manager at St Joseph's Nursing HomeThat's such a heartfelt tribute - thank you for sharing it. It sounds like the team at St Joseph's made a truly meaningful difference for both your mum and you. Their compassion and presence clearly went beyond care; they offered comfort, connection, and support when it mattered most.
Warm regards,
Michelle - Clinical Care Manager

The 5 stars I have given doesn't indicate that everything is perfect at St Joseph's but when any concerns are mentioned staff are willing to deal with them and generally communication is good.
My mother is well cared for and as happy as she is going to be away from her own home. Our ability to visit
her is unrestricted and we are free to take her out for a drive, etc.
Interaction with all the staff is excellent from my point of view, despite an occasional lapse in some information being fully shared.
I am pleased with her general physical care and happy with the food she is given. It would be better if she was able to have her hair well washed and set once a week, rather than fortnightly.
I would like to thank everyone who is involved in my mother's care.
Reply from Jonet Ilagan, Manager at St Joseph's Nursing HomeThank you for your kind review and feedback. We're happy to hear that your mother is well cared for and that our staff are meeting your needs. We appreciate your suggestion about her hair care and will look into it. We also value your understanding about occasional lapses in communication and will continue to improve in this area. Thank you for trusting us with your mother's care, and for recognising the efforts of our team.

The residence is kept clean and tidy albeit in some areas looking tired. The outside area appears at times neglected, poor attention is provided to the smoking area, as it is over filling and cigarette butts are scattered over the floor. We do feel the main residence should be updated (new lift fitted)
etc., and prioritised before the extension. At present the home appears understaffed at weekends and you can be waiting 15 minutes for the door to be opened to visit your relative. The staff are very caring and we are confident in knowing our relative is being well treated and looked after which is the most important factor. We have to be honest and say that we feel standards have dropped in recent months, but overall happy with the service.
Reply from Jonet Ilagan, Manager at St Joseph's Nursing HomeThank you for your feedback. We truly value both the positive comments and the constructive points as they provide insight into how we can continually improve our service. We're glad to hear that you feel confident in the care your relative is receiving and that our staff's dedication and compassion have stood out to you. It means a great deal to our team. We also want to acknowledge the concerns you raised, and we are aware of some of these issues. Rest assured that we have an action plan already in place to address these areas. We are sorry to hear that you feel our standards have declined in recent months, and we take this concern very seriously. Maintaining high standards is our priority, and we are actively reviewing our processes to understand any areas where we may need to refocus. Thank you again for trusting us with your loved one's care. Should you wish to discuss any specific concerns in more detail, please feel free to reach out directly.

My mum was cared for with kindness and efficiency for the last few days of her life. I wish we had found St Joseph's earlier for her. Kindness extended to family members as well. Also was aware of other residents being cared for and all was very good. Sadly my mum was too poorly to eat so can't review
food but it smelt delicious!

My mum has been here since June and you really can't fault the staff in any way. Mum is tube feed but from what I've seen and smelt the food seems lovely. Staff are always kind and always listen to your worries and inform us of my mum's day and the care she has had when we arrive. Yes, some rooms are
a little tired looking but I can see they are getting around to decorating all the rooms and it's very clean. Nothing is any bother for anyone and my mum is settled, comfy and feels safe. Also, the doctors they use are excellent as well. As a family, we come here daily and they don't mind us being here as long or as late as we want to be. For information, my mum has had a stroke.
Reply from Michelle Montealegre, Clinical Care Manager at St Joseph's Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words and positive feedback about the care your mum is receiving. We're truly honoured to have the opportunity to care for her and are delighted to hear that our efforts are making a difference in her life after the stroke. Your recognition of our work means a great deal to us. It is feedback like yours that inspires and motivates our staff to continue the home's commitment to excellence. Please know that we are here for her and for all of you in the family. If there is anything more we can do to enhance your mum's experience, do not hesitate to reach out.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.617)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.617) out of 10 for St Joseph's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.667 for St Joseph's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (154 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 210 Ratings = 4.667
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Joseph's Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
