Mum says its good here but some carers don't take time to understand her, speech is unclear. Food ok but always very similar fed up with semolina. Don't often see staff in corridor (busy I expect) but this can make mum feel she is all alone.

Review from Angela B (Relative of Resident) published on 20 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My relative went for a prolonged short stay at Dunwood Manor (Dec 25-June26). He was well cared for by everyone and became very fond of some of his nurses and carers - they were always cheerful and happy to help him. His room had a lovely view over the gardens, with cherry blossom and wisteria brightening his days. I found the management staff (Trudy and Maria) very responsive when I asked for any additional help, and it was always easy to contact them by phone or email. Gill on Reception was particularly helpful when my relative had phone problems or any admin issues. All in all it was an excellent short stay and we'd recommend the home as being well run, friendly and accommodating in every way. Dunwood Manor is also a little bit less expensive than other homes in the Romsey area so perfect for long or short stays if you're self funding.

The help and care my mother has received over the last 14 months is of the highest you could wish for and know that your loved one is getting everything you would want: food, healthcare, the most loving staff you would want, nothing is too much trouble, and knowing they are safe. The staff are so loving and caring. I would recommend Dunwood Manor Care Home to any family. If you want to know your loved one is receiving the care you would want to give yourself then Dunwood Manor Romsey is highly recommended, 5-star service.

My dad spent 2 weeks at Dunwood Manor for respite. The staff were all extremely supportive and took time to explain if he became confused. He benefitted from the opportunity to sit in the beautiful garden watching the wildlife in the peaceful surroundings. The facilities were well maintained and I felt very confident he was in a safe and caring environment being treated with dignity and respect.

My father was offered a place at Dunwood Manor Nursing Home on 2/1/24, after spells in and out of the hospital over a 7-month span. It’s been the best thing that could have happened to dad. The staff are first class. They are very caring and help dad settle in from the word go. The nursing care at this moment in time is first class. There is a good atmosphere in the home, with friendly smiling friendly faces. The food is prepared in the kitchen and my father says the food is very good, and plenty of it. Overall I am very pleased with the way things are going 10 out of 10.

Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at Dunwood Manor

Thank you for your consideration and informed review. Firstly I am delighted to read that we have made your Dad more comfortable and settled than he was. Little matters more than the Resident feeling comfortable and settled. We appreciate your feedback, we take our reviews seriously and we share them with the team so we all benefit. My very best wishes to your family, Helen

My wife's stay at Dunwood Manor was only seven weeks but during that time her care was outstanding. She loved her room and said so almost every day. During her stay, we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary and her 80th birthday. On the Tuesday of Easter week, we had a family gathering of eight and the home kindly provided us with a small room with tea, coffee and sandwiches. A wonderful experience, thank you all so much for looking after her so well.

My mum was a resident at Dunwood Manor for seven weeks with a terminal illness. Throughout her time there, she received exemplary care from every member of staff. All her care needs were fully met and the staff treated her with dignity and respect. Mum adored her room, had outstanding care and was supported through the final chapter of her life by a brilliant team. The staff were brilliant with my dad too and they were able to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary and Mum's 80th Birthday in Dunwood Manor. I cannot thank the staff and praise them highly enough for their professional, friendly and first class care. To receive such help at a challenging time was a tremendous source of comfort.

From the first day of my mum arriving at Dunwood Manor Care Home, I was very impressed with the care offered to my mum. As a very regular visitor, I was well pleased to see the ongoing care offered so far which was first-class in every way. Dunwood Manor is a clean, friendly home. The staff are approachable and caring. Standards of care and hygiene are excellent. Attention to detail in every area is evident. Food is tapered to personal needs and is presented in an appetising manner. Nothing is too much trouble and they strive to make the rooms homely. I would recommend Dunwood as a first-choice home if you were unable to care for your loved one.

My wife has been at Dunwood for several months, has settled in well and is very content.
She gets on very well with the staff - they are very kind, and nothing is too much trouble for them.

The food is excellent, and she looks forward to every meal. She says that due to her circumstances, she is in the best possible place, which in turn, means I do not have to worry about her as she is in good hands.
