Northbrooke House is a 45-bed residential care home in Havenstreet, on the outskirts of Ryde. Rated Good across all areas by the CQC (May 2025), it offers dependable care in a peaceful village setting surrounded by countryside.

The staff here take time to know each resident well. Care is shaped around health needs as well as the familiar routines and small comforts that make life feel settled, such as a favourite chair, a morning cup of tea, or a much-loved hobby.

Meals are cooked on site by the home’s chef, using fresh produce and tailored to individual tastes. Days follow an easy rhythm, with music, crafts and themed activities for those who want them, and quieter spaces for those who prefer calm. The enclosed garden is a safe and pleasant place to enjoy fresh air, while family forums and informal chats make it easy for relatives to stay connected.

Northbrooke House is more than a care home. It is part of the Havenstreet community, where kindness and respect guide everyday life and families know their loved ones are cared for properly.

Visits are straightforward to arrange and usually available within the week. Call or message today to find a time that suits.

Please be aware that this home does not cater for all dementia like it said on line my father has complex dementia and had care plan for this and 1 to1 12 hours a day in the morning before his 1to1 come on .his mat bell went off it took 14.34 mins to react to this so he shuffled around corridor and
went into another residence room where a incident happened because of this my father was gaven a eviction notice so them have put him in a locked room with his 1 to 1 during day and his Own at night because moving him isn't quick enough they are adding thing to his care plan to get his sectioned would thing twice about putting a relative in this home because if their need change they just tell lies and evict them

This used to be a very welcoming home but no longer the case.sadly the manager rarely comes out of the office to interact with residents or family. The residents look bored., entertainment very poor.Same few residents go on regular outings in minibus leaving others with no activities, except when CQC
due then every game and activity on display. Many residents in one lounge with small television in one corner, often tv and radio going together .one resident likes to take control of tv and keep changing channels.Food plentiful but too much my relative has put on over a stone in 6 months, snack table in lounge to help themselves to chocolate, biscuits, crisps not good for those with dementia unable to weigh up healthy choices.Has a garden but residents only able to use with supervision and not encouraged to go out. Some carers are very caring, housekeeping staff pleasant. Often delay in answering call bells noticed when visiting.

I haven't seen my mother so happy for many years since going into Northbrooke despite her many fears!
The staff have made her feel cared for and needed! They have listened and observed how to support her in a way that has made her very happy, content and safe!
I have found dealing with dementia so
hard despite being a healthcare professional and I am so relieved that she has a home that she is very comfortable in.

There is one thing that I am not happy about. When my husband was at Northbrooke, he was going through an aggressive phase, Northbrooke called me to say that they were going to put him on a 1 on 1 from 2 PM to 9 PM. I listened but did not agree to anything. They then said that a form would be sent to
me to sign which I never received. I didn't hear anything about it. Then all of a sudden I get a monthly bill of £3000 plus beginning in February-March.
In May and June, I visited my husband and asked to meet the 1 on 1 person, I was told that she was not in that day. Another time I was with a friend and he was sitting alone with all the other residents and not one person was around him or near him. This happened a few more times and I was wondering what I was paying for? Especially when the 1 on 1 was not in the day when I asked to meet the person. How many days did this happen? My husband has been self-funding for almost 3 years and now he is on Social Funding and I am paying half the fee.

My mother moved into Northbrooke House at the beginning of June. All the staff have been wonderful in welcoming her and helping her to settle. Her room is lovely and she is cared for 24/7 by kind, courteous and caring staff. Thank you for giving my mum and our family reassurance that she is safe and
happy.

On arrival, the manager was immediately very welcoming. She understood how we felt and reassured us. This new path the whole family had to take was good for everyone. The staff are friendly and caring. They give 1-1 time with the residents and incorporate family members into conversations. Nothing is
too much trouble and assist straight away. Mostly with thanks to the manager, we no longer feel guilty or a failure.

I have been invited to to this care home to provide Dog therapy, this is something vital to those living in a dementia care setting as it not only stimulates those living with dementia.
I was so impressed with the care staff who welcomed me with open arms and the residents absolutely loved my little
dog who was able to make the residents in the lounges smile and reminisce about dogs they have cared for in their lives, but also those being cared for in bed. My little dog was so welcomed by those being cared for in their rooms and it made them smile and seemed to help them remember memories about younger days. The smiles I saw were so heartwarming.
What really was welcoming was the manager, she was so kind to us and so forward-thinking with a view for us to return and become part of a care home family.
This care home has great rooms, great care staff and a great leader who obviously seems focused on providing the highest level of care.
We can not wait to return.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.078)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.078) out of 10 for Northbrooke House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.200 for Northbrooke House is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.2
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.878 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Northbrooke House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.2 = 0.978
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
