Our dad became a part of the Byron Lodge family in January 2025. I really didn't know what to expect as we've never had a parent in a home before. From day one, we was put at ease by the fantastic staff of the home and our dad seemed very comfortable and settled. It's now March and dad has got so much
confidence and is now able to sit in a reclining chair in the homes communal room, so a big well done and thank you for your help with getting dad to do this.
Reply from Gillain Burnham, Director of Care Services at Byron Lodge Nursing HomeThank you so much for this positive review, I will ensure all the staff get to share in this feed back as I know they all work so hard to provide loving and dignified care.We try very hard to make everyone welcome in our Homes because we believe they belong to our residents and as staff we are just visitors and we are there, without exception to serve them.Thank you again for taking the time to write the review,Kindest RegardsGill

Whenever I visit my friend, she always has clean clothes, bedlinen and hair. Noone knows when I'm going so this is done when necessary, not because a visitor is expected.
Reply from Gillain Burnham, Director of Care Services at Byron Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to write a kind review. We try very hard to always go with whatever the residents' wishes are.

My dad has been here a short while, but I can't fault the care. The staff are diligent and attentive to his needs and have a great rapport with him. In his own words, " The staff are pleasant and caring".
Reply from Gillain Burnham, Director of Care Services at Byron Lodge Nursing HomeThank you so much for your review. We work hard to try and treat every resident and their family and friends as "family" and we base our practices very much on how we would ourselves like to be treated. We believe it is a great privilege when someone chooses to live with us and make our home, their home.
Thank you again for taking the time to write this lovely review. I will ensure the whole team get to see this review.
Kindest Regards.

The level of care provided is excellent and when visiting the home, it is very pleasing to notice that there is always staff around attending to the needs of the residents. All of the staff are very approachable and we, the family, are kept fully informed of any concerns there may be about our relative.

Very nice place, my sister-in-law came here in a very poor state and she has settled in nicely, is much more stable and reasonably happy having been in and out of hospital for months.
All staff are caring, patient and kind and seem happy in their work.

I have found most of the staff extremely caring. On my visit, my sister is always clean. Any complaint is mainly about the food as she says it is awful and can't eat it.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.387)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.387) out of 10 for Byron Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Byron Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.47 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Byron Lodge Nursing Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.8 = 0.345
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
