My wife has suffered with dementia since 1995. Twenty-three years later, in May 2018, she became a resident at Fewcott House Nursing Home. This was a particularly anxious time for my daughters and myself, but we need not have worried, for she has has been looked after wonderfully well by the director and staff ever since. I have little doubt that my wife did deteriorate mentally when we were prevented from seeing her during lockdown, but of course that was not the fault of the home. The heating system is the only draw back, as it can only be moderated by turning it off.

Fewcott House Nursing Home is absolutely amazing. The staff are so caring, loving, funny, understanding but very professional. The atmosphere is very homely and every member of staff cares so well for my mum but they also show so much care towards the family. They really go above and beyond in every way possible. Thank you for making my mum so happy and settled.

Excellent care given to my husband. His care is tailored to suit his needs. I receive any details of his well being and health. I can visit at any time in normal circumstances (not during covid19) and was made very welcome. The staff are like family to me and I enjoy my visits to my husband.

The team is very friendly and my relative is very comfortable (both physically and psychologically) in Fewcott House. He enjoys the food, and likes his interactions with the team. When provided, he loves the activities and is proud of his contributions. He does not interact with other residents, and does not use the outdoor facilities which is a shame. The communication from the staff to us is good and they do not hesitate to contact us when they have any concerns about his health or medical treatment. The home has been impressive during the COVID lockdown period.

I found the home to be very nice. The grounds are lovely in the Spring and Summer with lots of wildlife. The home itself is nice and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Meals are good and they are happy to change the menu if they can. The decoration of the home is very good with various different themes.

The staff and management are always friendly and available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your relative, and also any issues or concerns are dealt with dignity and care. It is a beautiful home, with a very well tended large garden in a very nice area of Oxfordshire.

My wife was diagnosed as having Alzheimer's in 2011 and has regressed considerably since that date. She suffered a fall in May this year and was taken by ambulance to hospital. The social services team there allocated her to Fewcott House once it was confirmed that no bones were broken as she does require assistance with normal functions. The staff at Fewcott House do attend to their work with compassion and assiduously. Some of the residents suffer from old manifestations of dementia but all are treated as if part of a family with care and very little recrimination.

WELL DONE US!!

Not only are we still enjoying being classed as outstanding according to our CQC Report, and are delighted to stay COVID free during this heartbreaking pandemic, but we also have some further exciting news to share with you.

Fewcott House have been accredited with the Gold Standards Framework Award. The aim of the Gold Standards Framework Award is to enable a ‘gold standard’ of care to help people live well before they die, and to die well in the place and the manner of their choosing.

There are 128 Care Homes in Oxfordshire and we are one of only 5 that have achieved this!

As a thank you to all our staff and to celebrate with our residents, this week we have enjoyed eating fish and chips out of the paper from the local van, like the good old days and have had the ice-cream man visit weekly to keep us all cool in this somewhat unpredictable weather!

Well done everybody, teamwork makes the dream work and we look forward to welcoming everybody to celebrate with us when it’s safe to do so.
