The Langston Residential & Nursing Home

My father is a resident of The Langston Residential & Nursing Home, He suffers from dementia. All staff are so kind, patient and understanding and we know that dad is getting 1st class care. Always quick to contact you with any concerns and we are more than happy with the care he is receiving. We are so grateful that The Langston is close by and I visit every day and always find him happy and settled which is a great to see. I cannot recommend The Langston enough for their compassion and for always being professional making every resident feel like they are in a family environment. Thank you all for your support also with family and reassuring us that we know he is safe and cared for.

My father was a resident of The Langston Residential & Nursing Home from June 2021 until his death in February 2023. He suffered from Parkinson's and dementia and was 96 when he passed away. Throughout his time there his care was absolutely first-rate. I have crossed paths with dozens of staff and without exception, they have been gentle, considerate and extremely patient. Overall, the home has perfected the blend of combining the very professional with the very personal and I could not help but be struck by how much individual members of staff personally cared for the wellbeing of my dad, and, I must say, as my dad was in his final days, for me too. It genuinely provides peace of mind to know that my dad's final couple of years were lived in the company of people who made him feel safe, happy and loved. I cannot commend The Langston more highly.

They have a wide range of activities available and plenty of fresh homemade cakes.

I have nothing but praise for the incredible staff at The Langston. Experienced, knowledgeable, highly professional and kind, they do a terrific job that our family are extremely grateful for. It's a testament to the quality of management that the home reacted to the Covid crisis immediately and probably way ahead of the game. So they've been able to effectively protect both residents and staff from the start, whilst also being sensitive to the emotional needs of residents and their visitors. The only reason I've submitted four, rather than five, stars for facilities is the lack of outside space. Clearly, several lockdowns have prevented some planned works. So I hope that cost/budget permitting, they'll be able to make some improvements in this area. It's also worth pointing out that The Langston has a very close relationship with the local GP practice, which I think is another huge plus point. In a nutshell, an excellent nursing home.

We are so grateful that The Langston is close by. We looked at many nursing homes before we chose The Langston, it was by far the most homely and friendly. They have lots of interesting visitors from magicians, and musical performers to the local vicar. The in-house craft ladies also do a wonderful job. The Langston is clean, warm and comfortable with a fantastic house team.

It's always a pleasure to visit The Langston Residential & Nursing Home. The home is friendly and warm. The staff are available to tend to all the residents' needs. When I visited today, the home had a lovely new look with decorators doing a lovely job of making the home bright and fresh. It's this kind of thing that makes The Langston homely. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Langston to families and their loved ones.

This is a truly excellent nursing home. The staff are kind, friendly, compassionate, well-trained and highly skilled. Mum is extremely well cared for. The staff have got to know her very well, taking account of her personal preferences and ways. There is not a 'commercial' atmosphere but rather a 'family feel' and The Langston is a good size for staff to get to know residents personally. The manager and deputy manager are highly experienced and very responsive to any requests or suggestions - the fact that they are both fully qualified nurses is also very reassuring. I visit frequently and am always made very welcome by the staff. It's important to note that this is a nursing home rather than a care home, so there is also a fully qualified nurse on duty at all times. This is a real help when it comes to medication and any health concerns. Mum really enjoys the home cooking and the varied activities provided and her room is warm and comfortable. The Langston is highly recommended.

The manageress and staff are very professional and caring.

I am very happy with the care my father receives. The care and compassion is fantastic. My only negative is lack of outside space. The food and choices are always lovely, the activities are always varied and the photos we get to see are very reassuring.

I find the home very friendly and clean. I don't get to see my brother very often because I lost my husband and I go when a member of my family can take me.

On all my visits to see my friend, I have found the staff to be very helpful. They are obviously caring well for her as she seems happy and tells me that she is content and eating well etc.

My mother is 99 and has age related health issues, though not Dementia. She needs more help now with everything from mobility, washing, toilet needs and eating. The young staff at The Langston Residential & Nursing Home are very caring and friendly and importantly respectful, where dignity is lost. The management are supportive and the building well maintained.

The area where I feel they are weak (and perhaps this a problem with all care homes) is communication on the status of the patient. There are multiple parties involved Doctor, Nurse, Care, Managers, there also quite a high turnover of staff. A care communication plan ought to be agreed and adhered to. I am surprised communication isn't included as a measure of quality below.

Mum is very happy and settled and has a good rapport with all the staff.

My mother is in for respite care. I was so impressed by the care of the staff, so lovely to her and such gentleness and respect. They also treated me and my family with such care and warmth, with tea and lovely cake and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much.

I have found the staff, all staff from managers, nurses, carers and cleaners courteous, helpful and sympathetic. I have visited a number of care homes offering dementia care in recent months. The Langston Nursing Home I judge to be the best I have seen by a wide margin. Their care teams from nurses to residents are both competent and caring. I would strongly recommend The Langston Nursing Home for patients with dementia knowing that they would treat the patients with dignity, care and kindness.

Shortly after arriving at The Langston Nursing Home, my mother became gradually ill, having suffered from dementia for a number of years. The end of life care given to my mother was nothing short of outstanding - all staff clearly competent, well-informed and helpful at this difficult time. I would not hesitate to recommend The Langston Nursing Home to anyone. Very many thanks to all of the team who made my mother's last few weeks so comfortable.
