The Langston was built by the Earl of Ducie as a hunting lodge with stabling for forty horses in the 1870s. It was built using stone from the private quarry of his father-in-law, Squire Langston. It later became a popular hotel.

In 1985 it was turned into a residential home. The property was chosen not only for its suitability in having wide corridors and no steps within the building, but also for its beautiful setting with lovely views over the Cotswolds in all directions.

The Langston Nursing Home was awarded the rating of 'Good' in every area that was inspected by the CQC and the overall rating awarded following the inspection was 'Good' (October 2022). In 2022, The Langston Nursing Home was awarded a national Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Quality Hallmark Award for its delivery of end-of-life care during the pandemic.

The rooms are spacious and warmly decorated to make the residents feel at home. High-quality care from well-trained staff is offered, giving residents the opportunity to make their own choices and live as independently as possible in a safe environment.

Both myself and my daughter have been so grateful for the support, care and understanding that my husband has received at The Langston, we cannot thank you enough.
We know my husband is very challenging but everyone is so kind, patient and understanding, we couldn't ask for more.
We are kept well
informed and nothing is too much trouble.
We would recommend The Langston because it is first-class, we are so grateful that you were able to take him when he needed to go into care. Thank you so much.

This is a truly excellent nursing home. The staff are kind, friendly, compassionate, well-trained and highly skilled. Mum is extremely well cared for. The staff have got to know her very well, taking account of her personal preferences and ways. There is not a 'commercial' atmosphere but rather a 'family
feel' and The Langston is a good size for staff to get to know residents personally. The manager and deputy manager are highly experienced and very responsive to any requests or suggestions - the fact that they are both fully qualified nurses is also very reassuring. I visit frequently and am always made very welcome by the staff. It's important to note that this is a nursing home rather than a care home, so there is also a fully qualified nurse on duty at all times. This is a real help when it comes to medication and any health concerns. Mum really enjoys the home cooking and the varied activities provided and her room is warm and comfortable. The Langston is highly recommended.

I am very happy with the care my father receives. The care and compassion is fantastic. My only negative is lack of outside space. The food and choices are always lovely, the activities are always varied and the photos we get to see are very reassuring.

On all my visits to see my friend, I have found the staff to be very helpful. They are obviously caring well for her as she seems happy and tells me that she is content and eating well etc.

My mother is 99 and has age related health issues, though not Dementia. She needs more help now with everything from mobility, washing, toilet needs and eating. The young staff at The Langston Residential & Nursing Home are very caring and friendly and importantly respectful, where dignity is lost.
The management are supportive and the building well maintained.

My mother has dementia and has not been the easiest of patients to deal with.
Despite this, the staff have been consistently kind and caring and I feel my mother is receiving good care under difficult circumstances.
The area where I feel they are weak (and perhaps this a problem with all care homes)
is communication on the status of the patient. There are multiple parties involved Doctor, Nurse, Care, Managers, there also quite a high turnover of staff. A care communication plan ought to be agreed and adhered to. I am surprised communication isn't included as a measure of quality below.

The Langston is an excellent care home.
My mother is treated with respect and courtesy. She is able to make decisions regarding her food, dressing and what time she gets up and leaves her room. There are interesting activities and special themed days too.
Mum is very happy and settled and has a good

My mother is in for respite care. I was so impressed by the care of the staff, so lovely to her and such gentleness and respect. They also treated me and my family with such care and warmth, with tea and lovely cake and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much.

I have found the staff, all staff from managers, nurses, carers and cleaners courteous, helpful and sympathetic. I have visited a number of care homes offering dementia care in recent months. The Langston Nursing Home I judge to be the best I have seen by a wide margin. Their care teams from nurses
to residents are both competent and caring. I would strongly recommend The Langston Nursing Home for patients with dementia knowing that they would treat the patients with dignity, care and kindness.

Shortly after arriving at The Langston Nursing Home, my mother became gradually ill, having suffered from dementia for a number of years. The end of life care given to my mother was nothing short of outstanding - all staff clearly competent, well-informed and helpful at this difficult time. I would

My mother is very well cared for by kind, friendly and considerate carers. There is a very friendly atmosphere in the home and a high percentage of the carers have worked there for at least a year. The manager and nurses are available for discussions and a local doctor visits regularly. The food is
made in the kitchen and is of good quality. The likes and needs of individual patients are catered for. It is very comforting to know that my mother is in good hands.

High quality care. Friendly and caring attitude of the staff. Questions are always answered.
Husband's behaviour can be difficult but staff always handle well.
Public rooms recently redecorated. I can visit at any time and am always welcomed.
Good, recent care during husband's infection avoided distressing
hospital admission.

Very pleasant treatment whatever time of the day I call to see my wife. All the staff are very obliging and always try to help by taking my wife to her room where I can play music for 2 - 3 hours.
All rooms, corridors and lavatories are very clean at all times.
I always get well treated by everyone
in the office, Orangerie and gardens are always well kept and seasonal plants used to suit.

Staff are extremely caring and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. Residents are well looked after and encouraged to take part in activities. Safety of the residents is a high priority. Care is taken to decorate the home at Easter and Christmas.
