Overview

The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for Wardington House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Wardington House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.931 for Wardington House is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.931

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wardington House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12 positive Reviews (60 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 12 Target = 0.500

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Wardington House is a truly excellent nursing home, specialising in dementia care, where all sorts of clever techniques are used to allow residents to wander freely around the lovely grounds (in daylight hours). The staff are extremely caring and very professional and the staffing levels are kept unusually high, ensuring there is always someone close at hand with a friendly smile. My mother's behaviour is rather challenging at times, but the staff have been absolutely fantastic at managing her difficulties, with both compassion and expertise. It is so reassuring to be able to leave her in their competent care.

My mother stayed at Wardington House for respite care following a fall. I cannot thank the staff enough for the quality of care they gave her. They all understood her needs and went out of their way to meet these. And they were always friendly and welcoming to me. Wardington House is a very special place.

Outstanding - the things I think are amazing are knowing what everyone likes and cares about. They know I like collage and they give me all the old newspaper. The people who work here give the feeling they love working here and don't mind us annoying old people. This makes everyone more cheerful and relaxed. They have an incredibly clever way of keeping an eye on everyone so they don't get lost in the garden or stuck in the bath.

My wife had to be removed from a care home where her general health was declining rapidly. Pains in the chest and abdomen, cluster headaches, poor appetite and a debilitating unhappiness was the downhill nature of every day.

The Wardington House environment with its individually tailored care restored her life. The love, warmth and encouragement of staff; the freedom to move at will including exploring the beautiful gardens; the daily seemingly endless supply of mouthwatering food and the strict control of drugs, all combine to give dementia sufferers a new lease of life.

My wife is engaging with life again and that, with a smile.

In the 3 years that my husband has been resident in Wardington House I have never had cause for concern over his well-being and care. He lives in a home looked after by wonderful people in lovely surroundings and is free to wander - no locked doors. Food is fresh, good and plentiful.
