The end of life care for our daughter is everything we could wish for. The staff are excellent and very helpful. It means a lot for our peace of mind at this stressful time. The management are always available for the feedback that is important to us.

I would highly recommend Barons Down Care Home to anyone looking for a caring environment for their loved one. My father has been a resident for 18 months and despite his difficult and often aggressive behaviour due to dementia, he has always been treated with kindness and respect. .I am kept informed of even the smallest health issue and what treatment/action is being taken. Knowing that he is safe and cared for at all times is an enormous relief.

As well as varied activities for residents - and their visitors if they want to join in - there are regular meetings with the manager and her deputy to give residents and relatives the opportunity to ask questions, make suggestions and receive updates on any developments at the home. Visitors are given a warm welcome by the manager, Rahab, her support staff and the carers, which contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

I looked after my mum for 11 years hoping that she'd never have to go to a nursing home. Eventually her needs became too much for me and we took her to Barons Down. I shouldn't have worried as she's actually much happier there. Before, she was tearful, miserable and difficult to live with. Now she's smiling again and I feel I've got my mum back! She is full of praise for the care she receives - everyone is friendly and compassionate - and she has relaxed as she no longer feels she's a burden to me. I visit daily at various times and am warmly greeted by the staff. I am always impressed by the care and kindness shown to the residents. My dealings with the owners have also been helpful and positive. I know this review sounds a bit gushing - there is always room for small improvements - but I feel very lucky that we found Barons Down. There are lots of activities but at 93 mum doesn't want to join in. That's fine - she is happy and that's all that counts.

The kind and caring nature of all the staff at Baronsdown Down really do make all the difference. My father has severe Alzheimer's and his needs are difficult to understand and provide. However, he is extremely relaxed and comfortable with all the nursing staff he interacts with.

They also regularly keep me updated with what's going on with Dad, or any incidents. As a family we have a high level of comfort with the environment provided - well done and thank you.

The staff are very caring and tolerant of my husband who stongly resists personal care. They are always receptive to comments, requests and suggestions. At the Christmas party for residents and their families, the management and staff went over and above in terms of making a festive occasion and delicious party food.

Mum spent the last year of her life being cared for at Barons Down Nursing Home. I will be forever grateful for the kindness, care and dignity that she experienced here. The staff went out of their way to get to know Mum and our family and as regular visitors, my brother and I were always made to feel very welcome and involved in her care.

My wife has been in Barons Down Nursing Home for five months. In that time, my wife's mental and physical condition has improved greatly, in part thanks to the wonderful care staff.

She is now engaging in the various activities and happily interacts with staff and residents, something she was not able to do when she first arrived. She is very happy there and we are all very impressed with Barons Down.

Staff always respond well to requests and concerns. My sister-in-law is well cared for and she can have very up and down days. Particularly pleased with the activities coordinator - she always makes the effort to include my sister-in-law even if they have to bring the activity to her room. The manager is very approachable. The nurse in charge of my sister-in-law’s care, together with the GP's weekly visit, ensures that health matters are addressed. I do think staff in this home do try hard to meet their residents’ needs.

My mother has been a resident here for approximately two months. I was concerned at first about how she would settle as she has advanced dementia, but the help and care given to my mum have been amazing and made her very happy.

Our mother spent the last couple of years of her life here. She had a bright, spacious room and a lovely view. She could have lots of her favourite things around her.

She chose not to join in any activities as she had her own interests and enjoyed the tv provided. The kindness and friendliness of the staff meant that Mum was very happy. She was treated with affection and respect. We always felt welcome on our frequent visits. Mum was kept safe. There have been a number of changes in management band we feel these could have been communicated better.

A warm, friendly and homely atmosphere. The staff are kind, caring and extremely compassionate. Very professional and dedicated. The management always has time to listen to your queries and these are dealt with efficiently. They always put you at ease. The rooms are clean, light, airy and well-presented. The food is freshly prepared by experienced chefs and they are nutritious and adapted to meet residents' individual requirements. A wide variety of activities are supplied for residents' stimulation and enjoyment. Outside space is available for residents to enjoy. The staff always have time to spend chatting and engaging with residents' requirements making them feel relaxed, special and safe. My father felt like part of the 'family' and I would highly recommend Barons Down Nursing Home.

My Mum-in-Law was admitted to Barons Down in November for end-of-life care following a long hospital admission. This was a very difficult time for us as a family, especially for my Father-in-Law and Husband, but throughout we were supported by the lovely Manager and her team. All of the staff without exception were empathetic and caring, and we cannot thank them enough for the kindness and care they all showed to my Mum-in-Law in her final weeks.

Mum sadly passed away very recently and I cannot thank the staff enough for their diligence and care in her final days. The night staff were wonderful in keeping me informed having to break the news of her passing in the early hours. I can’t thank them enough for the last 18 months of mums life and through such difficult times too. The new Care Manager has made all the difference with her exemplary communication skills in keeping families updated. Thank you Barons Down.
