My mother went to Manor Hall Care Home for respite care from hospital and it was lovely. The staff were friendly and there was a good choice on the menu. Most of all, the care was first-class. I enjoyed visits as there was always a friendly smile and a cup of tea.

It's nice to go to a home where you feel at home and it looks like a home, rather than in hospital or a hotel.

The food was appalling, her room was no more than a broom cupboard with cheap lino. We could not move her due to Covid, otherwise, we would have done so. Whilst in the home's 'care' she managed to get hold of scissors and started to cut her hair and mattress, the finger was pointed at us. Even after her death there we are still getting invoices for incontinence pants, despite us paying them £1200 a week. They had our contact details but the posthumous invoices were addressed to c/o, my mother. When we came to get her belongings there were no condolences or empathy. She may have been no more than a difficult woman to them but that was our mum.

Thank you for your review. Where a client is very poorly there is often a need to blend or mix food to address a primary healthcare need. This does come at the expense of presentation and food, e.g. fortified food, can be less palatable. Rooms are all larger than the recommended minimum size. The...

I am amazed that five days after my mother passed away nobody from the home has had the courtesy to advise me of her death, I was only advised by her carer. Totally unprofessional way to behave at such a sad time. I will be contacting the health authority.

My husband has been a resident in this home with Parkinson's for 8 months. Lots of patience has been needed to look after him as he's very independent. They have exceeded all expectations.

I didn't know it was possible to find a care home of such high standards. All the staff, management, kitchen and reception are wonderful, loving, caring people. Not only do they care for your loved one, they care about the carers. After only two weeks I felt a great strain had been taken of me. I know my wife is in safe hands. Thank you all so much.

Manor Hall is clean, tidy, well decorated and, most importantly, it smells nice, unlike so many other care/nursing homes. The receptionist is welcoming and helpful. The nursing, care, activity and domestic staff are always uninformed and seem happy and cheerful in their work. They are always willing to answer questions and help in any way. My father, who is now bedridden, is well looked after. His room and en-suite bathroom are kept spotlessly clean and he is always clean, tidy and freshly shaven. His medical and personal needs are well catered for and I am kept up to date with all developments relating to his care and well-being. There are no restrictions on visiting and meetings are arranged each year for family and friends to attend, as are many social events. I would have no hesitation in recommending Manor Hall.

When looking for a Nursing Home for my sister, I was impressed that instead of telling me how good the home was (and it is) the deputy matron asked about my sister - her personality, her likes and dislikes, her interests and her needs. She is cared for as an individual.

I would recommend this care provider because they have a very high standard of care and cleanliness. The nursing home is set in a peaceful location with good transport links. The home has a lovely atmosphere from the moment you enter, lovely receptionist and very spacious lounge areas! The rooms are always spotlessly clean, bedding always clean and fresh, televisions for residents to watch! I am so pleased my mother is here since June 2017, enjoying a lovely quality of life, she is on the last stage of dementia, the home has lots of activities singing, making things arts & crafts. My mother enjoys the company of other residents. The nursing team are excellent my mother's needs are well cared for, I have peace of mind that my mother is in a caring, safe environment.

Mum's been here several years as having had several strokes required nursing care. The staff were amazing, taking time to get to know her and her personal and medical needs. She was quite difficult with staff initially but they were very understanding and patient during her settling period!
It's lovely, modern, spotlessly clean, constantly upgraded, redecorated and maintained to a very high standard. More importantly, it's well staffed by caring, professional staff who also make family feel welcome (including the dog!).

Should Mum be unwell, we are kept informed with phone calls and any health issues dealt with immediately and efficiently. Also Mum likes the food and she loves her food. They have regular activities, some she enjoys others not so much but that's just personal choice. I have worked in care for many years and would not hesitate to recommend Manor Hall, they have given my family peace of mind that Mum's in good hands!

Review from Alan P (Cousin of Resident) published on 23 April 2018 Submitted via Website

My cousin has been a resident in Manor Hall for over two years. She has continued to be looked after in a most caring and professional manner and always looks presentable, clean and well groomed. The home is well kept and has pleasant surroundings. The staff are always welcoming, cheerful and helpful and will answer any queries we have.

They have made every effort to ensure that my cousin is settled and happy. The home provides activities in which the residents can participate and the food looks appetising and well presented. We are always greeted cheerfully and professionally at reception and always informed by phone of any immediate health issues. My wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending Manor Hall.

I consider this to be an excellent nursing home. It was necessary for my mother to be admitted into a nursing home urgently in 2012, initially on a temporary basis. Manor Hall was recommended to me (along with 2 other homes) by my mother's social care worker. The Manager visited my mother, and after assessing her needs got back quickly to say there was a room available for her. We were very pleased with all the facilities and the various social things that were also available.

This has become her permanent home as she required special care and this is provided for at an excellent level. She loves her room and personal belongings in it as well. Both the administration of the home and the nursing care is of a high quality and any queries are dealt with quickly.

I live in Spain so knowing that she is safe and well cared for is a priority for me, I received an email today regarding her health as a doctors visit was necessary.

I would highly recommend this nursing home. They are most attentive and treat my mother with full respect. They are friendly and attentive and keep me updated if they have had to call the doctor out. My mother is healthier now than when she came into the home. She is happy there and regularly asks me to buy chocolates and biscuits to thank the staff for their care. I don't live locally and knowing that she is well looked after is a great comfort to me.
