Mum lived at Oaklands for over four years following a severe stroke. Her care during this time, as she slowly deteriorated, was outstanding.
The care given by all staff, including nursing, recreational and catering, was so important to us as a family in helping us adjust to the changes in her physical
and mental health. We came to regard Oaklands as an extended family.
I cannot recommend Oaklands enough.
Thank you.

My 91-year-old dad was discharged from the hospital to Oaklands with a palliative care package, and given only weeks to live. He was frail and bedridden on arrival. However, with exceptional nursing and general care together with private physio and sheer determination, Dad improved sufficiently over
four and a half months to be discharged back home to my 92-year-old mum, and a live-in carer. Oaklands was the perfect place for my Dad for this interim period - small and homely with friendly staff, yet very professional. Sincere gratitude from all our family.

My Mum was cared for here with love and kindness from all the staff.
We were extremely fortunate that a room became available for her just at the right time. Her ensuite room was bright and warm with a lovely view over the garden. She had a cosy chair which she spent most of her time in and we could
call her anytime, and staff would bring the phone to her. If we video called Mum and the staff were there, they always said hello and gave us the low down on how Mum was, and if she was behaving herself!
I have great admiration for the way the management, home and all the staff have coped during this pandemic. They have made everything as safe as they could and have been excellent with communications and updates as to when we could visit and how it would all work.
The kind staff work so hard, give so much - and always with kindness.
When it was Mum's time to take flight - they could not have been kinder or more supportive.
I am so grateful to them. Thank you. I highly recommend.

Our mother moved into Oaklands over two and a half years ago now. Not at any point have I had concerns; all the staff are approachable and easy to communicate with. Both the carers and nursing staff are very capable of noticing small changes in Mums health, and addressing them before they become an
issue. Whenever I visit Mum, she is well fed, clean and comfortable. What more could you ask for! She became bedridden over a year ago, and I worried that she would be lonely, but the carers and entertainment staff spend time with her one on one every day, for which, I am truly grateful, especially through these difficult months.

The home is friendly, clean and homely but not clinical. It has its residents' needs as first priority. Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.308)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.308) out of 10 for Oaklands Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.794 for Oaklands Court is calculated as follows: ( (49 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (17 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 3.794
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.514 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaklands Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.814
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
