Beggars Roost

Communication between the home and family members has been great regarding handing over information as it presents itself and inclusion in decision making.

On the first day, the manager, Karen said to my mother that the staff will work with her to address her challenges. This really resignated with me and has indeed proved to be the case. Always a warm and informative welcome from Lee, the Home's Administrator.

Although my mother is terminally ill her 'wellbeing' has improved since she has been in the home and we all feel that the home is the best place for her at this time. When I visit it is clear that the staff regularly attend/pop in to see my mother and are always very cheerful, engaging and attentive.

Mum's been at Beggars Roost now for a few months, she has settled in really well and that is due to the wonderful staff, they are helpful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Mum was not eating much when she went there, but thanks to the staff encouragement and the lovely food mum is eating well again. Thanks again to all who work at Beggars Roost

My brothers stay will be sadly short but I could not recommend Beggars Roost more highly.

Since my mother's arrival, the care she has received has been exceptional. All staff members at Beggars Roost are consistently cheerful and always willing to assist, often exceeding expectations. I highly commend Beggars Roost for their outstanding service.

All the staff from carers and nurses, cleaning staff, chefs, absolutely everyone at Beggers roast have been absolutely amazing. Supporting and caring for my darling mum through end of life care.

Looked after my mum incredibly well until the very end. Couldn't thank them more for their patience, care and commitment to the care and well being of not only my mum but us too as a family.

Our mum was transferred to Beggars Roost Nursing Home back in February 2025 after a two month hospital stay. Our overall experience of Beggars Roost has been very positive, the staff are kind, caring & lovely. The nurses & care home manager, who is also the matron are absolutely lovely & they make sure the residents get their medication on time & are also there if a resident needs them, for example if a resident has more pain or if the care team ask for a nurse to take a look at a resident. It is reassuring having nurses on hand, so you know your loved one is well taken care of & kept as pain free as possible. The room our mum is in is lovely & mum has her own reclining chair that the care team can hoist mum into if she doesn't want to go downstairs. The food seems to always be fresh & presented lovely. Chef always makes deserts as well. If a resident is hungry in between whiles, they can press their callbell & ask for something else to eat or if they want another cuppa. There is no restrictions, which is so good. Also, the G.P, being in contact with the nurses weekly, is so reassuring. The home is kept clean & looking lovely. Lovely conservatory & garden for all to use.

My mother suffers from advanced Parkinsons disease and was transferred to Beggars Roost during covid having been placed in two other local nursing home prior to this but not settled. Despite the restrictions and challenges which applied at the time, she was made very comfortable and has been very well cared for by the medical and care staff since. She has a large and pleasant ground floor room with a view of the well kept gardens. Despite the advanced stage of her illness and being bed bound she has not had any significant periods of sickness whilst at Beggars Roost which is testament to the quality of the medical care she receives. My brothers and I are very grateful to Lee and all the staff for the way our mother is looked after.

My mum has been cared for with much tenderness and consideration. She is always clean, her bed is always clean and the home is clean and fresh. We are more than happy with her care.

The staff were kind and helpful at all times. They gave him a peaceful and comfortable environment with family members always welcome to the end of his life.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained.

Very caring. Nurses, carers and other staff very friendly. I was well looked after for my 9 months there. All did their best to rehabilitate me, and everybody was kind and usually cheerful. I was there after a fall and hospital treatment, and the staff went out of their way to get me the right drugs and activities.

My mother has been cared for in a considerate and positive fashion. Her room is clean and tidy and she has constant attention.

My father was very happy at Beggars Roost Nursing Home. He was cared for very professionally by the nursing staff and they spent time with him and got to know him very well. We felt happy in the knowledge that he was looked after well and we, as a family, were kept informed of what was going on with him. We would highly recommend this nursing home.

I have been very impressed and happy with this lovely, friendly home. The nurses and staff were so very caring and kind. I could not fault anything. The care and kindness when my husband was dying were so lovingly given. I would highly recommend this nursing home.
