Very caring. Nurses, carers and other staff very friendly. I was well looked after for my 9 months there. All did their best to rehabilitate me, and everybody was kind and usually cheerful. I was there after a fall and hospital treatment, and the staff went out of their way to get me the right drugs
and activities.

My father was very happy at Beggars Roost Nursing Home. He was cared for very professionally by the nursing staff and they spent time with him and got to know him very well. We felt happy in the knowledge that he was looked after well and we, as a family, were kept informed of what was going on with
him. We would highly recommend this nursing home.

I have been very impressed and happy with this lovely, friendly home. The nurses and staff were so very caring and kind. I could not fault anything. The care and kindness when my husband was dying were so lovingly given. I would highly recommend this nursing home.

My husband is cared for by kind and caring staff, and enjoys the excellent food provided.
He spends rather too much time in his bed! This may be his choice.
He could do with more stimulation mentally if it were possible.

My mother has now been in this care home for just over 3 years and I continue to be impressed with the level of care she receives. The standard of care has always been maintained to a very high level throughout what has been the most difficult of times.
Over the years she has been at Beggars Roost
she has been able to develop an excellent rapport with the staff for which our whole family are very grateful for. All the staff are very caring and respectful, the home itself is in a beautiful setting and excellently maintained. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.

Thanking everyone for the care they gave to my husband in his last months. Especially in his last six days as the loving care was extended to myself and adult children.
My husband was a victim of Motor neurone disease. He had no speech or movement but his brain remained active. The care he received
was greatly appreciated.
Covid prevented family visits but we were thankful of your care and attention to him and your tolerance to my daily FaceTime call.
As my husband reached the end of life your kindness was second to none.
Without hesitancy, I recommend Beggars Roost to my friend as her husband needed residential care.
My thanks to all.

Excellent care for my cousin for the last few years of his life having had a heart attack. He was disabled all his life but managed to always overcome his disability. The care home appreciated this and enjoyed his company.

My mum has been a resident at Beggars Roost for 4 years. During this time she has received excellent care and support as her dementia has progressed. The staff are professional, caring, friendly and welcoming to residents and relatives alike. They have always met my mum’s changing needs with care and
support whilst maintaining her dignity. As a relative, I have always been kept well informed of my mum’s care and been made welcome whenever I visit. The staff work hard to provide activities and events to include everyone and ensure relatives have happy memories of these shared occasions. I would strongly recommended Beggars Roost nursing home to others.

Mum has been at Beggars Roost for a year now and has been very well cared for in all that time. All the staff are friendly, helpful and importantly always available to help or talk to. Mum seems better now than she has been for a long time and bearing mind she loved her home, she finds Beggars Roost
a real home for her now she can no longer sustain an independent life. The staff are a real team and well steered by matron whose whole existence seems dedicated to the welfare of her family of residents. The volunteers are fantastic, and the activities are a real stimulus to Mum who enjoys her time in the conservatory with the other residents. That said staff are well aware that sometimes she just wants quiet private time and respect that giving her space and taking her wherever she feels comfortable. We could not have chosen a better home to extend to Mum the dignified care she deserves.

Our mum spent nearly 2 years at Beggars Roost until she died very peacefully. We were very happy that she was looked after so well, and she often told us how kind staff were. The activities in the lounge always seemed so companionable and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.365)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.365) out of 10 for Beggars Roost is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.565 for Beggars Roost is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.565
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beggars Roost is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
