My 91 year old father has been at Woodside Hall for more than two years when he was admitted after an acute stroke and also suffering from multiple medical conditions. The care he has received has been exceptional. As a family we are supported and kept informed. My father has thrived on the interaction
and socialisation at the home. He is treated as a friendly, intelligent gentleman with a great sense of humour. The care is thorough and professional and the staff treat residents and their families with respect. We are always updated on any changes to Dad's condition. Sindhu (the home's manager) has been a constant source of knowledge, support and reassurance and Tanya (the home's Administrator) is a delight - always helpful and informative. The carers work hard and well as a team. As a family we have no concerns and know that Dad is safe and happy. Our thanks to everyone at Woodside - Fran, Karen, Rob, Tony and Kate.

Philip has lived at Woodside for the past 25 years. The care is excellent and he is very content and well catered for. The food is super, too. As I live 200 miles away, I rely on the communications from the staff at Woodside which are also top notch. It is a huge relief to know that Philip is in safe
hands

Excellent care all round. The staff really make an effort to ensure that my Dad keeps social and joins in with all the activities even despite the problems he has. The nursing team are also excellent, making special effort to keep him safe and fed, it's clear that they are very kind to him and has developed
a good relation with them. It's also located in a very peaceful place surrounded by nature and fresh air. Very very grateful that my father was accepted here.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My partner's dad, John, became a permanent resident at Woodside Hall in early November 2025, and from the very start, we knew that he was in excellent hands. Unfortunately, due to his illness, John's behaviour could sometimes be very challenging, but the staff always treated him with great care, patience
and compassion, for which we, as a family will always be grateful. Sadly, John passed away in early January this year, but we know that every effort was made to make his short stay as good as it was possible to be.
Nothing was too much trouble for the fantastic team at Woodside Hall. Everyone was very friendly and we would thoroughly recommend Woodside as a safe, comfortable and caring environment for anybody's loved-one. From our hearts, "Thank you"...

Our mum was transferred to Beggars Roost Nursing Home back in February 2025 after a two month hospital stay. Our overall experience of Beggars Roost has been very positive, the staff are kind, caring & lovely. The nurses & care home manager, who is also the matron are absolutely lovely & they make sure
the residents get their medication on time & are also there if a resident needs them, for example if a resident has more pain or if the care team ask for a nurse to take a look at a resident. It is reassuring having nurses on hand, so you know your loved one is well taken care of & kept as pain free as possible. The room our mum is in is lovely & mum has her own reclining chair that the care team can hoist mum into if she doesn't want to go downstairs. The food seems to always be fresh & presented lovely. Chef always makes deserts as well. If a resident is hungry in between whiles, they can press their callbell & ask for something else to eat or if they want another cuppa. There is no restrictions, which is so good. Also, the G.P, being in contact with the nurses weekly, is so reassuring. The home is kept clean & looking lovely. Lovely conservatory & garden for all to use.
Reply from Karen Curd, Registered Manager at Beggars RoostThank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We appreciate your kind words, it really lifts the spirits of the staff knowing what they strive for each day is felt not only by the people in our care but by the family/NOK/ friends. We are glad you feel comfortable to communicate with us at any time. We will also ensure we keep Mum supplied with cups of tea and snacks which she enjoys.

My mother spent 18 months at Beggars Roost and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a very nice garden in which to spend time if desired. The team of Matron, nursing staff, carers, kitchen staff and administrators were fantastic and could not do enough to make my mother's
stay with them a happy and enjoyable stay. Mum enjoyed her friendly chats with the staff who would always ensure that mum was comfortable and would spend as much time as needed with her, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and if mum didn't like what was available, the kitchen staff would always accommodate her with whatever she preferred to eat. Mum was bed bound during her stay and was always treated with care, warmth and dignity, sadly mum passed away in November 2025, but the staff assisted the family through this difficult time. Beggars Roost comes highly recommended, keep up the good work and thank you.

My mother suffers from advanced Parkinsons disease and was transferred to Beggars Roost during covid having been placed in two other local nursing home prior to this but not settled. Despite the restrictions and challenges which applied at the time, she was made very comfortable and has been very well
cared for by the medical and care staff since. She has a large and pleasant ground floor room with a view of the well kept gardens. Despite the advanced stage of her illness and being bed bound she has not had any significant periods of sickness whilst at Beggars Roost which is testament to the quality of the medical care she receives. My brothers and I are very grateful to Lee and all the staff for the way our mother is looked after.

My Mum was taken into Beggars Roost Care Home in March 2024 where she still resides. The care she receives in the home is Second to none and all the staff are very supportive and understanding towards her needs. Me and my Brother do not live locally and the Staff at the home assist us in taking Mum
to Hospital Appointments if we cant get down on the appointment date which is much appreciated.
The Home is in a very quiet location and has an excellent and well kept grounds.
I highly recommend this care home.

I have a concern relating to a recent visit to my friend. I was buzzed into the premises, but left in reception for 15 minutes. When I pressed the doorbell again, no one was in reception, no staff were around, and I did not know my friend's room number. I could potentially have been anywhere in the
building all that time unsupervised. This is surely a safety risk.
Reply from Mary McLean, Director at Kite Hill Care HomeAs a small home our reception is not permanently staffed. Our door is locked and the person in charge answers the door via a mobile phone. They may have assumed that you have visited before and were not aware that you did not know where your friend's room is. Whilst this may have been frustrating for you, you would have signed in and given the name of the person you were visiting which meets our safeguarding risks whilst also supporting our residents to welcome visitors.

The staff are amazing very friendly always welcoming and smiling. The home is always very clean, and it shows when you walk through the door. I have no problems with mum's care, and that shows by her telling me she is happy here. Mum is very up and down with her meals but what I have seen of the meals,
they are inviting. Always so many activities going on. I know mum enjoys her time in the lounge. Nurses and management are always helpful and will always answer your questions. I love the home.

My Husband was transferred from Hospital to Beggars Roost. This was the best thing I ever did as he had a very traumatic time there. The moment he arrived at Beggars Roost he was greeted by a member of the Team to at a serene calm place.
His care was second to none the Matron and all the staff were
amazing, After his arrival he became more contented and was able to go into the Conservatory and watch, occasionally take part in the activities.
The food was excellent and beautifully presented and he was able to have meals he enjoyed.
He arrived at Beggars Roost with a very nasty scald wound and this was treated with such care.
He had a lovely room looking out onto the side garden the grounds were well looked after.
As he became more ill and bed bound he was comfy and and treated with dignity. The family was treated with such kindness right up until he died.
I could say lots much more about the wonderful care this Home offered to my Husband but I will run out of space. Thank you all.
