I work in the field of health and social care on the mainland so know exactly what I want from a care home.
What an absolute find Woodside Hall is. From the very first communication the staff (Administrator and Manager) were very professional but friendly and compassionate.
Mum never wanted to go into a care home but she had a beautiful room that was personalised with photos from home. The nursing staff and care staff were second to none. Kind, caring, compassionate. They went through the care plan with me and asked if there was anything else to add to it on my very first visit. Food looked and smelt beautiful.
As I am having medical treatment myself, which the staff were aware of, so I couldnt visit as frequently as I would have liked, the staff would call me with updates but also ask me how I was doing. All communication was clear and timely.

Mum passed away at the care home but I am certain she had the best possible care at all times at. I would 100% recommend this care home

In general I am veyr happy with care given but I am unhappy with the way he looks sometimes as clothes are not ironed and put in draws and not hung up. Everything of his is named not all of his clothes are in the cupboard and a lot of other peoples. Overall Joe seems to be happy and settled.

Thank you, Helen, for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience, particularly regarding the clothes not being ironed and concerns about them being misplaced.

While we do not offer an ironing service, as stated in our client agreement, I understand your...

I regularly visit a resident at this home. On my last visit, he told me what a wonderful salmon and hollandaise sauce he had on Christmas Day. Also, wonderful entertainment, so much better than being at home on his own. He is very happy at Woodside and has made friends with the staff. He has a lovely room and a high level of care.

Reply from Tanya Legon, Home Administrator at Woodside Hall

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I will pass your review onto the Kitchen and Activities teams. Lisa, Michelle, Paul and Caz put a lot of work in to make sure Christmas is special for all our clients. I remember this client being thrilled with our enormous tree in reception and their face lighting up! It is heart warming to know we helped make their Christmas enjoyable.

I cannot thank you enough for looking after my mum with so much care and love. It's is a great comfort to know that she spent the last three years of her life in a very calm, relaxed and loving state of mind, which was due to the high standard, exemplary care from you all. I will never forget and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Our dad has been in Woodside Hall since December 2024 and from the first time we walked into the entrance it felt the right place for him to be, it is a wonderful setting and it doesn't feel like a nursing home. He receives great care and all the staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The staff keep him safe and comfortable, he always appears happy when we visit. Both the staff and managers keep us updated regularly and respond to any adjustments to his care that we request.

My 91 year old father has been at Woodside Hall for more than two years when he was admitted after an acute stroke and also suffering from multiple medical conditions. The care he has received has been exceptional. As a family we are supported and kept informed. My father has thrived on the interaction and socialisation at the home. He is treated as a friendly, intelligent gentleman with a great sense of humour. The care is thorough and professional and the staff treat residents and their families with respect. We are always updated on any changes to Dad's condition. Sindhu (the home's manager) has been a constant source of knowledge, support and reassurance and Tanya (the home's Administrator) is a delight - always helpful and informative. The carers work hard and well as a team. As a family we have no concerns and know that Dad is safe and happy. Our thanks to everyone at Woodside - Fran, Karen, Rob, Tony and Kate.

Philip has lived at Woodside for the past 25 years. The care is excellent and he is very content and well catered for. The food is super, too. As I live 200 miles away, I rely on the communications from the staff at Woodside which are also top notch. It is a huge relief to know that Philip is in safe hands

Excellent care all round. The staff really make an effort to ensure that my Dad keeps social and joins in with all the activities even despite the problems he has. The nursing team are also excellent, making special effort to keep him safe and fed, it's clear that they are very kind to him and has developed a good relation with them. It's also located in a very peaceful place surrounded by nature and fresh air. Very very grateful that my father was accepted here.

Overall Experience
My partner's dad, John, became a permanent resident at Woodside Hall in early November 2025, and from the very start, we knew that he was in excellent hands. Unfortunately, due to his illness, John's behaviour could sometimes be very challenging, but the staff always treated him with great care, patience and compassion, for which we, as a family will always be grateful. Sadly, John passed away in early January this year, but we know that every effort was made to make his short stay as good as it was possible to be.
Nothing was too much trouble for the fantastic team at Woodside Hall. Everyone was very friendly and we would thoroughly recommend Woodside as a safe, comfortable and caring environment for anybody's loved-one. From our hearts, "Thank you"...

My mother was taken in by Sindhu (the Manager) from hospital for palliative care and later end-of-life care. It was a very traumatic time for us, but all of the staff have been so kind and caring towards my mother and myself. I couldn't have asked for a more peaceful end to her life.

The staff are amazing very friendly always welcoming and smiling. The home is always very clean, and it shows when you walk through the door. I have no problems with mum's care, and that shows by her telling me she is happy here. Mum is very up and down with her meals but what I have seen of the meals, they are inviting. Always so many activities going on. I know mum enjoys her time in the lounge. Nurses and management are always helpful and will always answer your questions. I love the home.

Mum went to Woodside Hall for respite care after needing surgery for a hip fracture. She is 92 and was totally independant and self caring before her fall and wanted to be back home as soon as possible Making the arrangements for respite was simple enough - they had a room available (which may not always be the case) that fit the dates and were able to extend her stay by one week when the rehabilitation team were concerned about her progress.

The place was well laid out and always clean when we visited. Her room was large with an en suite shower room and wonderful views over the lawn onto the Solent. The staff were always kind and courteous and went out of their way to be helpful. They worked alongside a rehabilitation team to improve her confidence and mobility and a care agency that will help support her now she is home.

Staff are very kind and caring, supporting not only the resident but family. The property is spotlessly clean and modern- more like a hotel than a nursing home. All staff are professional and treat the resident with the utmost respect, always with a caring word and a smile. Resident is monitored almost continuously. Staff go out of their way to sit and comfort both resident and family. Nothing is too much trouble.

You can not believe how grateful we were when Woodside took in our parents in December 2023! Our Dad's health had taken a real turn for the worse and we had no idea how we were going to cope. Within no time they had moved in and our Mum and Dad were able to have a lovely social Christmas dinner in the lounge. Mum struggled for some time after Dad died, it was hard for her to lose the man she had loved since she was 16 years old. But with all the staffs help, kindness and fun, she rallied and was able to adjust to her new life. We can not thank them enough for how they all worked together to give our Mum a fun filled, comfortable lovely home for her final phase of life. We shall always be grateful for the way they also supported us as a family. All the staff are amazing.
