I work in the field of health and social care on the mainland so know exactly what I want from a care home.
What an absolute find Woodside Hall is. From the very first communication the staff (Administrator and Manager) were very professional but friendly and compassionate.
Mum never wanted to go into a care home but she had a beautiful room that was personalised with photos from home. The nursing staff and care staff were second to none. Kind, caring, compassionate. They went through the care plan with me and asked if there was anything else to add to it on my very first visit. Food looked and smelt beautiful.
As I am having medical treatment myself, which the staff were aware of, so I couldnt visit as frequently as I would have liked, the staff would call me with updates but also ask me how I was doing. All communication was clear and timely.

Mum passed away at the care home but I am certain she had the best possible care at all times at. I would 100% recommend this care home

Dad spent the last two years of life in Kite Hill. Despite his infirmity, he was very comfortable. Was always praising the staff too me and he thought the world of them all. On Dad's passing the staff showed much empathy and I could not thank and praise them enough.

In general I am veyr happy with care given but I am unhappy with the way he looks sometimes as clothes are not ironed and put in draws and not hung up. Everything of his is named not all of his clothes are in the cupboard and a lot of other peoples. Overall Joe seems to be happy and settled.

Reply from Sindhu Nevell, Registered Manager at Woodside Hall
Thank you, Helen, for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience, particularly regarding the clothes not being ironed and concerns about them being misplaced.

While we do not offer an ironing service, as stated in our client agreement, I understand your...

Kitehill welcomed my dad with so much care and compassion. Dad had dementia and although he could be challenging, he was always treated with respect and dignity. Staff are so kind and professional. I chose kitehill because I had professional experience of them and I was not let down. I cannot praise them highly enough. Dad enjoyed the meals that were provided and certainly enjoyed the desserts. Staff always greeted him with a smile and kindness. Dad could not have spent his final months in a better environment

I will always be forever grateful to each and every member of their fantastic team.

Review of Kite Hill Care Home from Craig K (Son of Resident) published on 26 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The staff at Kite Hill started looking after Dad (Harold) back at the end of Aug 25. They immediately fell in love with Dad and his little cheeky ways making him feel right at home. He would be made most welcome during their evening hand overs telling them that he was the governor, before helping him back to his room.
They cared tirelessly for him till the very end in April 26. And even then they made sure that his room was left so nicely ready for us to take his things home.
We can not recommend Kite Hill highly enough. They are true caring people that made Dads time their a joy for him. It is the people that make a care home and these are truly a loving and caring group of people.

If in doubt, risk it and use them as you truly won't be disappointed as your loved ones become their loved ones.

Mum became a permanent resident at the home in September 2023 and remained there until she passed away in March 2026
All the staff were consistently kind and caring towards Mum. Her personal care was excellent, and the meals were always of a very high standard.
I would always receive a phone call from the home if there were an concerns with Mum and how this was resolved.
As Mum approached the end of her life, she was always kept comfortable, clean, and treated with great dignity. The staff could not have done more for her.
Everyone at the home also cared for myself and my family when we visited. When I was upset, they always made time to talk to me and, when I needed it, offered a comforting hug. We were made to feel like part of the family.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Kite Hill Residential Home to anyone looking for a caring and supportive home for their loved one.

I would like to thank everyone at the home for looking after Mum to such a high standard at all times.

My Mum lived at Kite Hill Care Home for 5 Years. In that time the staff showed her outstanding love and care. Mum had been very happy there, she always spoke very highly of the staff and how well they looked after her. I was very impressed with the atmosphere of the home, friendly but also professional. The home is well maintained and always fresh and clean. Though I never ate at the home, the meals I saw served to Mum always looked and smelt delicious and Mum ate a better and more varied diet than she had for years!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Kite Hill Care Home to anyone looking for care for a relative or friend.

I regularly visit a resident at this home. On my last visit, he told me what a wonderful salmon and hollandaise sauce he had on Christmas Day. Also, wonderful entertainment, so much better than being at home on his own. He is very happy at Woodside and has made friends with the staff. He has a lovely room and a high level of care.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I will pass your review onto the Kitchen and Activities teams. Lisa, Michelle, Paul and Caz put a lot of work in to make sure Christmas is special for all our clients. I remember this client being thrilled with our enormous tree in reception and their face lighting up! It is heart warming to know we helped make their Christmas enjoyable.

I cannot thank you enough for looking after my mum with so much care and love. It's is a great comfort to know that she spent the last three years of her life in a very calm, relaxed and loving state of mind, which was due to the high standard, exemplary care from you all. I will never forget and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Overall Experience

Our dad has been in Woodside Hall since December 2024 and from the first time we walked into the entrance it felt the right place for him to be, it is a wonderful setting and it doesn't feel like a nursing home. He receives great care and all the staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The staff keep him safe and comfortable, he always appears happy when we visit. Both the staff and managers keep us updated regularly and respond to any adjustments to his care that we request.

Overall Experience

My 91 year old father has been at Woodside Hall for more than two years when he was admitted after an acute stroke and also suffering from multiple medical conditions. The care he has received has been exceptional. As a family we are supported and kept informed. My father has thrived on the interaction and socialisation at the home. He is treated as a friendly, intelligent gentleman with a great sense of humour. The care is thorough and professional and the staff treat residents and their families with respect. We are always updated on any changes to Dad's condition. Sindhu (the home's manager) has been a constant source of knowledge, support and reassurance and Tanya (the home's Administrator) is a delight - always helpful and informative. The carers work hard and well as a team. As a family we have no concerns and know that Dad is safe and happy. Our thanks to everyone at Woodside - Fran, Karen, Rob, Tony and Kate.

Philip has lived at Woodside for the past 25 years. The care is excellent and he is very content and well catered for. The food is super, too. As I live 200 miles away, I rely on the communications from the staff at Woodside which are also top notch. It is a huge relief to know that Philip is in safe hands

Excellent care all round. The staff really make an effort to ensure that my Dad keeps social and joins in with all the activities even despite the problems he has. The nursing team are also excellent, making special effort to keep him safe and fed, it's clear that they are very kind to him and has developed a good relation with them. It's also located in a very peaceful place surrounded by nature and fresh air. Very very grateful that my father was accepted here.

Review of Woodside Hall from Karen S (Relative of Resident) published on 26 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My partner's dad, John, became a permanent resident at Woodside Hall in early November 2025, and from the very start, we knew that he was in excellent hands. Unfortunately, due to his illness, John's behaviour could sometimes be very challenging, but the staff always treated him with great care, patience and compassion, for which we, as a family will always be grateful. Sadly, John passed away in early January this year, but we know that every effort was made to make his short stay as good as it was possible to be.
Nothing was too much trouble for the fantastic team at Woodside Hall. Everyone was very friendly and we would thoroughly recommend Woodside as a safe, comfortable and caring environment for anybody's loved-one. From our hearts, "Thank you"...

My mother was taken in by Sindhu (the Manager) from hospital for palliative care and later end-of-life care. It was a very traumatic time for us, but all of the staff have been so kind and caring towards my mother and myself. I couldn't have asked for a more peaceful end to her life.

Review of Kite Hill Care Home from Julie J (Friend of Resident) published on 13 November 2025 Submitted via Postal Card

I have a concern relating to a recent visit to my friend. I was buzzed into the premises, but left in reception for 15 minutes. When I pressed the doorbell again, no one was in reception, no staff were around, and I did not know my friend's room number. I could potentially have been anywhere in the building all that time unsupervised. This is surely a safety risk.

Reply from Mary McLean, Director at Kite Hill Care Home

As a small home our reception is not permanently staffed. Our door is locked and the person in charge answers the door via a mobile phone. They may have assumed that you have visited before and were not aware that you did not know where your friend's room is. Whilst this may have been frustrating...

The staff are amazing very friendly always welcoming and smiling. The home is always very clean, and it shows when you walk through the door. I have no problems with mum's care, and that shows by her telling me she is happy here. Mum is very up and down with her meals but what I have seen of the meals, they are inviting. Always so many activities going on. I know mum enjoys her time in the lounge. Nurses and management are always helpful and will always answer your questions. I love the home.
