Country Lodge Nursing Home is a privately run care home on the edge of Worthing, West Sussex. They offer care to older residents whose needs include medical, physical, terminal illness, respite and convalescence care.

They have a team of highly qualified, experienced nursing and care staff who, together with the auxiliary staff, are committed to providing the best possible care for their residents.

Their small size means that staff and residents really get to know one another and create a homely, community feel. With a delightful garden and stunning views over the South Downs and Sussex countryside, their philosophy is to give residents the best possible quality of life while promoting their independence, privacy and dignity.

All bedrooms are charmingly decorated to a high standard and have electric profiling beds, a nurse call system, a flat screen television and telephone. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furniture if they wish as well as personal effects to truly make their room a home from home.

Country Lodge pride themselves on their delicious home cooked meals. They often use home grown food, and if it not home grown, it is locally sourced and produced. Because of this, they cook seasonal meals that are chosen by the residents.

Country Lodge is also accredited with the Investor in People Award representing excellent and regular training. In March 2022 they were proud to receive a rating of "Good" by the CQC.

The Country Lodge Nursing Home is a little slice of paradise for the elderly. My father was looked after with tender care and humour.
I used to look forward to visiting him not just to see him but all the staff and residents! My father had a wonderful room that looked out onto a beautifully landscaped
garden. The food was amazing. My (fussy) father would look forward with relish to all mealtimes! Everyone who worked at Country Lodge went that extra mile to make all residents and relatives feel welcome. I wholly recommend this lovely place to anyone looking for a ‘home from home’ for their parents.

Myself and my family cannot thank the staff of Country Lodge Nursing Home enough for the tender loving care they gave to my mum during the last few months of her life. The staff became part of her family and ours too. Myself and my sister spent many hours visiting Mum and never witnessed anything other
than kindness and respect towards her and the other residents.


We will be eternally grateful to them all.

My mother-in-law was a resident for about 5 months, after suffering a stroke. She was unable to walk or care for herself. The staff are very attentive and caring and carry out their duties with a positive and happy manner. The home is set on the edge of farmland. With a lovely outlook, especially from
the well-kept gardens, which the residents are encouraged to use. The management is very professional and any correspondence is dealt with very efficiently.

I would highly recommend Country Lodge Nursing Home to any of my friends or relatives. I have visited on numerous occasions over the years and always found everything from staff, food, facilities etc. to be first class. Country Lodge is a very warm and welcoming Nursing Home, tastefully furnished
with beautiful well kept gardens to look out onto. There are always plenty of activities arranged to keep everyone entertained. I cannot think of anything negative to say about this lovely Home.

Country Lodge Nursing Home has to be the best nursing home in the area. The staff were always attentive and smiling and friendly to my mother and to myself and my siblings whenever they visited. The care my mother got was so good. The food and choice of food could not be faulted. My mother spent her
last 3 years here and I'm sure it was because of the standard of Country Lodge.
Our choice of nursing home for my mother was influenced by nurses at Worthing Hospital, who recommended Country Lodge, saying that colleagues had left to go there because of the good reputation.
I would not hesitate to recommend Country Lodge.

When my mum was admitted to this home she was only 6 stone and slightly confused. Since that time, over 18 months or so, she has gained a considerable amount of weight and her faculties have been restored. I play Scrabble with her often and I have to work hard to beat her. She has always said that the
lunch is very good and that is important when life is so restricted. She is less flattering about her tea, sandwiches usually, but there is no shortage of good food including home made cakes available all day. I have noticed that she has drink beside her at all times so that dehydration is no longer an issue. When she was living on her own that was the major cause for concern. The staff are well-trained, cheerful, and helpful. There are trained staff on duty at night too. There may be an issue about the time it takes about going to the toilet after lunch but I suspect the pressure on the system arises in this area because all the residents want to go at the same time. Thanks to the staff!

We cannot fault the care that my mother received in this home. The staff are very attentive, caring and friendly. My mother lived at this home for nearly 2 and a half years following a spell in hospital. She had both mobility problems and dementia. Her room looked out over the garden and the South Downs
and although bed ridden most of the time, she enjoyed the view which was a regular topic of conversation. Mum couldn't have had better care anywhere and when the time came, it was dealt with extremely sensitively. As a family, we were always welcome and made to feel part of things.


We can't thank the team there enough and wish them all the very best.

Cleanliness is clearly paramount and one is always greeted with a clean fresh smell with not a hint of disinfectant, air freshener or the dreadful hospital smell. My father's room was always clean and cosy.
My father thoroughly enjoyed the flavoursome, freshly cooked meals and afternoon tea and
cake.
My father had a plethora of medical problems. The nurses were incredibly efficient, as well as compassionate. I was confident my father was regularly monitored and concerns addressed immediately.
Staff treated my father with dignity and respect and were empathetic to the challenges his illness presented him. They cared patiently for his physical needs, showed him kindness when he felt low, made him laugh and humoured him when he was being grumpy.
My father passed away in January however the care he received meant he spent the last months of his life feeling safe, happy and relaxed knowing he was surrounded by good people who had his best interests at heart and genuinely cared.

I and my siblings are very impressed with the care that our aunt is receiving at Country Lodge Nursing Home, she was very poorly when she first arrived however little by little we have seen an improvement in Aunties health, she is far more comfortable and out of pain, she is always clean and tidy and
appears to be relaxed. I have visited various Homes over the years and very often there is an unpleasant smell or air fresheners are used to mask these odours, here it just smells clean. The staff are caring and put the patient first, which is just as it should be, if they are tending to our aunts personal needs when we arrive we have to wait outside the room until they have finished, thereby safeguarding her dignity.


I would definitely recommend this Nursing Home without hesitation.

Having looked at the other reviews, I must agree with many, as that is my view now having my mother staying there. She has only been there for just over 4 weeks. I know she is happy there and because of her age that really does count. The staff do their best all the time, and sometimes make my mother
laugh, which she hasn't done much of for a while. I'm glad to be able to put my and mother's views forward.

Mum has enjoyed the best care and attention since commencing her stay 12 months ago . She receives excellent medical and caring support. Although initially reluctant to leave her home, she now says that she regards Country Lodge as her home. She says she feels "safe" and that she never feels lonely
because she has a constant stream of visitors in the form of the carers. She was delighted that they produced a birthday cake and helped her celebrate her 91 st birthday recently. I sleep a lot easier knowing she is happy and so well cared for .

Mum moved to Country Lodge as she was unable to live at home. She has settled in well at Country Lodge and we have no worries that she is well cared for and happy in a safe and secure environment. The staff treat her as one of the family and she has improved considerably since her admission.

Debbie Spokes is The Registered Manager at Country Lodge Nursing Home.


Hello, I am Debbie Spokes, the Registered Manager here at Country Lodge since 2004. I have been a nurse for 35+ years, working in the NHS, before moving to the private sector. Delivering exemplary care and creating a 'home from home' environment has always remained my highest priority. I am very proud of our wonderful team, built over many years and have never stopped enjoying making a difference in people's lives.
