Overall Experience
The home has had a thorough transformation over the last year and more. It is bright and welcoming for the residents with some rooms individually personalised which has a homely feel for them.
The staff are approachable for relatives regarding any queries they may have and are very kind and treat each resident as an individual.
I have, on several occasions, had to have confidential conversations with the manager regarding my relative whether that was by telephone or in-person and I have always been accommodated there and then.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic, there has not been many entertainers but hopefully, that will be rectified as soon as the covid regulations allow as the activities were amazing pre-pandemic.

Anyone who has a relative that has specific care needs should undoubtedly give this home consideration to ascertain its merits.

My partner has been at Oakwood House for 6 months now and although unsure at the start of his stay am now 100% certain he is in the right place. The staff are a lovely group of people who show so much love and quality care for the residents but also have time for the relatives which I find really nice. I feel very comfortable visiting here although, in need of a bit of TLC, the new manager is starting to get things done. I would certainly recommend the home for anyone who needs the specialist care the home provides.

We visited my great-great-uncle this week.

What a change, lovely welcome to Oakwood when arrived. New administrator welcomed me what a lovely cheerful person.

Home is having a bit of makeover, there is a poster stating that they are decorating and we can give opinions.

Still a bit more TLC required however front with flowers in reception etc is a really nice touch.

Home manager appears really passionate.

Was on the way to an emergency bell when I arrived. This was nice to see.

Not like bigger companies, a mix of new staff and old has injected new life into the home.

Activities - the lady is so lovely and also was lovely seeing the big lounge used more.

Well done.

I would like to highly recommend that if anyone is looking for care, homely environment. Feels like it’s like visiting your loved one at their home prior to being admitted.

Carers that care, don’t look stressed, look like they enjoy their job.

Could do with a bit of TLC on the environment but all said and done that does not affect the happy environment and care given.

I don’t often get down to Suffolk
However, I did pop in, a lot of changes since my last visit. A new manager who is a bubbly person opening the door. Nice to see that a manager is in at the weekend plus when I visited before I went home after 16.00 hours.
The front entrance looks so nice not cluttered like it was.
I would suggest some pictures and a bit of a freshen up with decorating. However, the staff appear to be far happier.
The change is so good really pleased to have visited.

One member of staff who I meet for the first time was so polite, the interaction between residents and her was lovely to watch.

I have visited a friend first time in a long time.
What a change from last year.
The new home manager opened the door with smiles, more approachable and appears to care.

Home is looking better, staff smiling, improvement noticed, well done to team.

We cannot thank all the staff at Oakwood House enough for the care and love they gave to my dad. Everyone went beyond our expectations, It's not just a job to the staff like we found in other places. The family could relax knowing how well he was being looked after. So if your looking for a home for your relative or loved one we cannot recommend Oakwood House enough. All the staff are fantastic.
