I highly recommend Wickham House. There is a sense of calm, warmth and togetherness on entering the building. The residents here are treated with the utmost respect and are really listened to. The bedrooms are homely, practical and very clean. There are communal areas looking out onto the pretty
garden. The meals look appetising and there are lots of tea breaks. The secure garden is of a good size and can be accessed at any time. The carers accompany residents on walks around the village and to the local tea room.
The staff at Wickham House are what makes this place so special. They are friendly, professional and kind. The care on offer here is of an exceptionally high standard.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseThank you Jenny, these are very kind words about the care we provide - i will pass them onto the team

The staff are very patient and caring, particularly when dealing with some very challenging residents. I especially like the ready access to a sheltered garden. Being able to experience fresh air, I believe, is very important.

My husband can really be challenging at times, but staff and carers including the nurses know his needs very well. I can honestly say that I am more than happy for him to be in there care with no issues at all. He's been there 3 years now and he seems to be settled most of the time, but he does have

My sister has lived at Chantry House since March 2025. My brother and two other sisters have no complaints. The staff and management are always welcoming and friendly. Our sister seems happy and contented, clean and well dressed.

Wickham House is genuinely exceptional. No other care provision has done for my mum what Wickham House has. When the manager and deputy assessed her, they held her hand and reassured her that she would be well cared for at Wickham House. Management and the whole team have kept their word. From the manager
and deputy going in on Christmas Day to give residents gifts, displays of craft that residents make carefully displayed on the walls, beautifully presented afternoon teas from the thoughtful kitchen team, carers painting residents' nails, Easter chicks being brought in for residents to cuddle, to the regular singers and entertainment offered, the approach of the whole team is exemplary. Even when my mum has a difficult time, I am reassured that she is looked after with compassion, skill and expertise. In my experience of nearly two years, Wickham House is a care home that consistently goes above and beyond. I wholeheartedly recommend it without any reservation.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseThank you Lee for these kind words, i will share them with the team.

I would NOT recommend this care home. They don't have my Fathers interest and mental health as a top priority. I have been told personally that they do not have time to check the login book and it's only there for emergencies. So they don't have time to check the login book to see who is coming and going
from the building, allowing people to visit my father who does not like or know which effecting his mental health. My father's happiness and mental health is not a top priority. If you call up on a weekend there is nobody there to answer any questions regarding my fathers health, only Monday to Friday 9 to 5. There is lack of numbers of carers on each floor as a few incidents have occurred whilst I have been visiting and no one is available! The above date is ongoing and is now July 2025.I would rate this home 0 stars but I have to choice at least 1star and that 1star is for the food.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseI am sorry you feel like this let me reassure you your father's care is a priority as is his mental health. I am available if you would like to discuss this further.

Mum has been a resident of Quenby rest home since Nov 2021. We absolutely struck gold when my sister and I chose Quenby for Mum. The care, love and support from the wonderful staff is second to none and we are always made to feel welcomed and part of the Quenby family when we visit mum. As mum's dementia
has progressed the care and management of her needs has been excellent, she always looks clean and comfortable and we are always promptly notified of any concerns or changes to mum's health and wellbeing. The food is always good and residents are served a healthy and balanced diet. Residents can partake in various activities each day including games and art. Throughout the year there are several events for families to attend including garden parties, music and singing, international food and music celebrations and of course the amazing Quenby Christmas party! The staff work incredibly hard to make these events happen so families can enjoy quality time with their loved ones.
Reply from Jill Sleeper, Home Manager at Quenby Rest HomeThank you for your positive feedback and kind comments I will pass your comments onto the staff team

My family and I highly recommend Wickham House. My husband has been ( and still can be!) most challenging but the staff have always treated him with dignity and respect , a little humour and genuine care. Wickham is a happy home, always welcoming, well-kept, with light, airy rooms and a very pretty,
easy accessible garden. The meals are very good too! We are so grateful that my husband was accepted there.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseMany thanks for this lovely review Pam, i will feed this back to the staff.

My brother usually is relaxed (can be testing at times) & often falls asleep during our visits.

Our mum has been a Quenby Rest Home resident for almost two years now. Prior to coming to Quenby Mum lived independently at home and had care staff helping her at home. Unfortunately, this became insufficient as Mum required more assistance and reassurance, particularly at night. Quenby has undoubtedly
provided great care and support to Mum and she is very contented at Quenby. Two members of staff in particular and the whole team at Quenby have been a massive reassurance to myself and my brother and our family.
Mum does have dementia but she is physically mobile and enjoys the garden and activities at Quenby. She particularly enjoys her trips to the library and to the coast with a staff member on the bus (Mum has a bus pass). A key quality of Quenby is that Mum has the chance to speak to staff and residents, she does enjoy chatting and socialising which she can do at Quenby much more so than when she was at home. Thank you to all the team at Quenby for taking such good care of Mum.
Reply from Nithyanand Navaneethakrishnan, Home Manager at Quenby Rest HomeThanks for your lovely feedback. Will pass along your feedback to our team members. If you have any suggestions to enhance the quality of our service, please let us know as well. Your feedback is always welcomed and appreciated. Thanks again for your kindness and support.

I was absolutely delighted at the wonderful care, understanding and helpfulness of all of the staff at this home. They always were polite, helpful and pleased to help us gain our mobility and use of our body back after laying in the hospital with very little thought to our needs.
The food was very
good, with one particular lady who made home-cooked cakes, pies etc.
The home had an extremely friendly atmosphere, the permanent residents seemed really happy being there.
Reply from Nithyanand Navaneethakrishnan, Home Manager at Quenby Rest HomeThank you for your kind feedback. I will surely pass this on to my team. I'm really glad you have achieved the outcome you expected. I'll also pass your feedback to the RTH team. Take care.

Since my mother joined the home I have visited on many occasions, I always find the staff members and general atmosphere to be extremely welcoming. My mother is happy and content at Wickham House. The management team are beyond helpful, if there are any issues they will call to let you know immediately.
I get a strong impression they really care for the residents. My family are very grateful to the team at Wickham for making my mother's stay a happy and caring one.

I have found the staff at Oakwood very polite and helpful. I can see that the nurses and the domestic staff are very caring to the residents in general. Mum's room is clean and tidy. Mum's room is always very clean and her clothes are her own not muddled up as I have known in other residences. The new
gardener is amazing and is making the home look very well presented. It's lovely to see this. I am aware of lots of activities for my mum. Sadly Mum has been in bed on one occasion in the morning. It was a shame she was not got up for this as she does like to be involved.
Reply from Michala Hartley-Brown, Manager at Oakwood HouseThank you very much for this positive feedback. I will ensure Mum is involved in all the activities unless she is physically unwell at the time.

As a family, we are very grateful to the staff at Oakwood House for their kind support for my brother who has complex mental and physical needs.
It's a relief to know that he is in a safe place and being cared for by supportive and caring staff.
They have even given him daily tasks and interests by
purchasing tropical fish and budgerigars for my brother to assist with looking after and he was able to help with the setting up and then managing of the tank etc. This has given him purpose and has helped boost his feeling of self worth.
He often tells us of crafts and other entertainment he has been involved with the members of staff and they do their best to keep him occupied.
Reply from Michala Hartley-Brown, Manager at Oakwood HouseThank you very much for this wonderful feedback. Your brother is a wonderful asset to our home.

My nan came here for a rest to homestay and now she doesn't want to go home! The staff are incredible. They are like a family and make you feel part of it. They are attentive and caring. Any sign of Nan not being 100% they are doing checks, samples and talking to the doctor. I could not be more grateful
for the team at Quenby. Also, the food is amazing! Always options and always fresh! Thank you, Quenby for making my nan comfortable, safe and happy.
Reply from Nithyanand Navaneethakrishnan, Home Manager at Quenby Rest HomeThank very much you, Jenna. I am so pleased that your experience is very positive so far with Quenby and the staff team. I will share your feedback with staff team as well. Thanks again.

My husband has been a resident of Oakwood House for nearly four years now. Where have those years gone as Oakwood just feels like our extended home. The management and staff are all so thoughtful and caring. They have patience and spend time with all the residents in their care, however complex needs
are. The activities team work wonders in providing a variety of special days which residents, their families and staff all take part in and enjoy. The garden has improved with a regular gardener who keeps it looking nice for all to enjoy. Oakwood is a happy, caring respectful environment for residents, their family and friends. Words can't express how grateful we are personally and would strongly recommend Oakwood to anyone who has a relative who needs specialist care that the home provides.
Reply from Michala Hartley-Brown, Manager at Oakwood HouseThank you very much for the wonderful review. Integration of residents' families is very important to us and the residents. We always aim for a homely environment where both residents and their relatives feel comfortable and inclusive
