It's impossible to know what happens in care homes when you are not around. On the face of initial inspections,with friendly chat, refreshments, and smart furniture all seems great, but 'reality often dawns after you have taken the bait. With Chantry House you need have no worries and should consider yourself lucky to have any opportunity to place your loved ones here. My partner has Alzheimer's and we had 2 simply dreadful and unspeakable experiences elsewhere locally. They literally drove both of us to the brink of despair and anger. At Chantry our faith in the system has been totally restored and my partner is now smiling and happy again, knowing that without exception, the staff are genuine carers and the management team of the highest order.. Any request is actioned, not just promised, there are always plenty of staff and a family atmosphere with fellow patients who actually become friends. Return home to relax, knowing your nearest and dearest is in very good hands.

My wife, who has Alzheimer's, has been cared for, one to one, by a team of dedicated carers at Chantry House Care Home since she took up residency there at the end of January of this year (2026). Their approach to her wellbeing has been superb, displaying dedication, compassion and always with a smile in their faces. The management, carers, kitchen staff and cleaners along with the resident nurses have treated my wife and other residents as individuals who all have different needs. As they got to understand my wife's personality, they have become even more proficient in managing her care and have not faltered, ensuring that she lives as normal life as possible, despite her Alzheimer's. Their communication to me has always been open and honest right from the start, nothing has been hidden away, and I feel I can have a meaningful conversation as to the wellbeing of my wife. The Home should be proud of the way they operate, they REALLY care with the uppermost compassion.

On our visits we can see that all the residents are being treated with dignity and respect.

From the moment my dad arrived, he was treated with love, care and respect. His best interests were at the heart of every decision that was made, and we always knew he was in the safest and kindest hands. During the last few weeks of his life, we spent every day by his bedside. Everyone-from the management team and front desk staff to the carers, cleaners and even the residents-made us feel welcome, loved and supported during one of the most difficult times of our lives. We laughed together, cried together, shared stories, found comfort in one another, and were never without a cup of tea or something to eat. I will be forever grateful to have met such incredible people. I couldn't have wished for a more compassionate place for my dad to spend his final days. The kindness, dignity and respect shown to him, and to our whole family, will never be forgotten. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you did.

My aunt has been at Chantry House for 3 years now. When she first arrived she was very distressed and her behaviour as a result of her mental health needs was very challenging. The staff at Chantry House have been consistently patient and kind, seeking to understand her and she is much calmer now. It is very reassuring to know that she is well cared for and the home has a very warm and positive atmosphere. There have been some lovely birthday celebrations recently for residents and my aunt has enjoyed the music activities.

I would without hesitation recommend the home.

We are extremely happy with the care our dad receives. The staff are always kind, friendly, compassionate and treat him with genuine respect and dignity. They go above and beyond to make sure he is comfortable, safe and well looked after, and nothing ever seems too much trouble. Communication with the family is excellent, and it's reassuring to know he is in such caring hands. We can't thank the team enough for everything they do and would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for outstanding care.

I can't fault the home at all, they keep me informed and update of everything that is happening with my mum.

My Dad is in wickham house, and I couldn't be happier with the amount of care, love and support that he receives. The staff are all so welcoming and supportive, they feel like family. They are open and honest and care deeply for my dad and his family and are especially supportive to my mum. His care needs are taken care of at a high standard, he has a variety of good food and plenty of drink. We will be forever grateful to everyone at wickham house.

I cannot thank the team enough for the care, patience, understanding and dedication shown to my Uncle. Communication between home & myself is excellent, the team listens to any worries, give reassurance and go above and beyond. Nothing is to much. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful, and the number of staff members to residents really made a difference. The staff at Wickham House are what makes this place so special. They are friendly, professional and kind. The care on offer here is of an exceptionally high standard.

The staff are very patient and caring, particularly when dealing with some very challenging residents. I especially like the ready access to a sheltered garden. Being able to experience fresh air, I believe, is very important.

My husband can really be challenging at times, but staff and carers including the nurses know his needs very well. I can honestly say that I am more than happy for him to be in there care with no issues at all. He's been there 3 years now and he seems to be settled most of the time, but he does have his moments which is only to be expected.

My sister has lived at Chantry House since March 2025. My brother and two other sisters have no complaints. The staff and management are always welcoming and friendly. Our sister seems happy and contented, clean and well dressed.

Wickham House is genuinely exceptional. No other care provision has done for my mum what Wickham House has. When the manager and deputy assessed her, they held her hand and reassured her that she would be well cared for at Wickham House. Management and the whole team have kept their word. From the manager and deputy going in on Christmas Day to give residents gifts, displays of craft that residents make carefully displayed on the walls, beautifully presented afternoon teas from the thoughtful kitchen team, carers painting residents' nails, Easter chicks being brought in for residents to cuddle, to the regular singers and entertainment offered, the approach of the whole team is exemplary. Even when my mum has a difficult time, I am reassured that she is looked after with compassion, skill and expertise. In my experience of nearly two years, Wickham House is a care home that consistently goes above and beyond. I wholeheartedly recommend it without any reservation.
