My mum came here in January for an assessment following her previous home being unable to meet her care needs.
Straight away it was obvious that everyone was so caring and empathetic, the difference in the care she was receiving was amazing. Mum was much more settled and comfortable, We wish she had
been there sooner.
This is also the cleanest care home I have visited, the food was good as well.
A big thank you to everyone at Wickham House who made my mums last few months comfortable and settled.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseThank you for those kind words, I will pass them onto the team.

My wife suffers from Alzheimer's and is very difficult to manage. After a disastrous 13-day stay at a previous Care Home she moved to Chantry House in Saxmundham, where she is being looked after with exceptional love and care. Despite her difficulties the Care Home has taken all this in their stride
from the Manager down to the cleaners there has been nothing but kindness and understanding shown towards her. Although I find it difficult to come to terms with her developing Alzheimer's, I know that she is in an excellent setting where her complex needs can be met. I can not praise the staff enough for how they gentle manage her needs, they are not flustered by her aggressive moods, nor when she is agitated, they take it all in their stride. Thank you so much for all that you do, I am internally grateful to you for your kindness and compassion you have shown and continue to show towards my wife. Your Home thoroughly warrants a five star rating.

I highly recommend Wickham House. There is a sense of calm, warmth and togetherness on entering the building. The residents here are treated with the utmost respect and are really listened to. The bedrooms are homely, practical and very clean. There are communal areas looking out onto the pretty
garden. The meals look appetising and there are lots of tea breaks. The secure garden is of a good size and can be accessed at any time. The carers accompany residents on walks around the village and to the local tea room.
The staff at Wickham House are what makes this place so special. They are friendly, professional and kind. The care on offer here is of an exceptionally high standard.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseThank you Jenny, these are very kind words about the care we provide - i will pass them onto the team

The staff are very patient and caring, particularly when dealing with some very challenging residents. I especially like the ready access to a sheltered garden. Being able to experience fresh air, I believe, is very important.

My husband can really be challenging at times, but staff and carers including the nurses know his needs very well. I can honestly say that I am more than happy for him to be in there care with no issues at all. He's been there 3 years now and he seems to be settled most of the time, but he does have

My sister has lived at Chantry House since March 2025. My brother and two other sisters have no complaints. The staff and management are always welcoming and friendly. Our sister seems happy and contented, clean and well dressed.

Wickham House is genuinely exceptional. No other care provision has done for my mum what Wickham House has. When the manager and deputy assessed her, they held her hand and reassured her that she would be well cared for at Wickham House. Management and the whole team have kept their word. From the manager
and deputy going in on Christmas Day to give residents gifts, displays of craft that residents make carefully displayed on the walls, beautifully presented afternoon teas from the thoughtful kitchen team, carers painting residents' nails, Easter chicks being brought in for residents to cuddle, to the regular singers and entertainment offered, the approach of the whole team is exemplary. Even when my mum has a difficult time, I am reassured that she is looked after with compassion, skill and expertise. In my experience of nearly two years, Wickham House is a care home that consistently goes above and beyond. I wholeheartedly recommend it without any reservation.

I would NOT recommend this care home. They don't have my Fathers interest and mental health as a top priority. I have been told personally that they do not have time to check the login book and it's only there for emergencies. So they don't have time to check the login book to see who is coming and going
from the building, allowing people to visit my father who does not like or know which effecting his mental health. My father's happiness and mental health is not a top priority. If you call up on a weekend there is nobody there to answer any questions regarding my fathers health, only Monday to Friday 9 to 5. There is lack of numbers of carers on each floor as a few incidents have occurred whilst I have been visiting and no one is available! The above date is ongoing and is now July 2025.I would rate this home 0 stars but I have to choice at least 1star and that 1star is for the food.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseI am sorry you feel like this let me reassure you your father's care is a priority as is his mental health. I am available if you would like to discuss this further.

My family and I highly recommend Wickham House. My husband has been ( and still can be!) most challenging but the staff have always treated him with dignity and respect , a little humour and genuine care. Wickham is a happy home, always welcoming, well-kept, with light, airy rooms and a very pretty,
easy accessible garden. The meals are very good too! We are so grateful that my husband was accepted there.
Reply from Michelle Medway, Registered Manager at Wickham HouseMany thanks for this lovely review Pam, i will feed this back to the staff.

I have found the staff at Oakwood very polite and helpful. I can see that the nurses and the domestic staff are very caring to the residents in general. Mum's room is clean and tidy. Mum's room is always very clean and her clothes are her own not muddled up as I have known in other residences. The new
gardener is amazing and is making the home look very well presented. It's lovely to see this. I am aware of lots of activities for my mum. Sadly Mum has been in bed on one occasion in the morning. It was a shame she was not got up for this as she does like to be involved.
Reply from Michala Hartley-Brown, Manager at Oakwood HouseThank you very much for this positive feedback. I will ensure Mum is involved in all the activities unless she is physically unwell at the time.

As a family, we are very grateful to the staff at Oakwood House for their kind support for my brother who has complex mental and physical needs.
It's a relief to know that he is in a safe place and being cared for by supportive and caring staff.
They have even given him daily tasks and interests by
purchasing tropical fish and budgerigars for my brother to assist with looking after and he was able to help with the setting up and then managing of the tank etc. This has given him purpose and has helped boost his feeling of self worth.
He often tells us of crafts and other entertainment he has been involved with the members of staff and they do their best to keep him occupied.
Reply from Michala Hartley-Brown, Manager at Oakwood HouseThank you very much for this wonderful feedback. Your brother is a wonderful asset to our home.

My husband has been a resident of Oakwood House for nearly four years now. Where have those years gone as Oakwood just feels like our extended home. The management and staff are all so thoughtful and caring. They have patience and spend time with all the residents in their care, however complex needs
are. The activities team work wonders in providing a variety of special days which residents, their families and staff all take part in and enjoy. The garden has improved with a regular gardener who keeps it looking nice for all to enjoy. Oakwood is a happy, caring respectful environment for residents, their family and friends. Words can't express how grateful we are personally and would strongly recommend Oakwood to anyone who has a relative who needs specialist care that the home provides.
Reply from Michala Hartley-Brown, Manager at Oakwood HouseThank you very much for the wonderful review. Integration of residents' families is very important to us and the residents. We always aim for a homely environment where both residents and their relatives feel comfortable and inclusive

My father required nursing home care. The Management did everything they could to support a good transition for him. He has received first class care and attention from the nurses, carers and all auxiliary staff working in the nursing home. Our mum also required nursing care, and fortunately, a room
vacancy at Oakwood House meant she was able to be in the same nursing home, close to our dad. The atmosphere in the nursing home is friendly, caring, patient and supportive. Events and activities are planned and enjoyed by residents and their visitors too. My siblings and I, have been delighted to see how well our parents have been cared for, when we visited Oakwood House. I don't live locally and am pleased the communication with the staff at Oakwood House has been excellent when I call (or visit) to get updates on my parents.
Reply from Michala Hartley-Brown, Manager at Oakwood HouseThank you so much for this lovely review. Both your Mum and Dad were a pleasure to care for.
