This is a care home of note. They deserve a 5 Star award. I never have to worry about my hubby. The care is excellent. Aftrr 2 other care homes this is the best. Whenever I go to bisit he is clean, well fed and happy. I get contacted on a regular basis. They are so kind and compassionate.

Thank you Chantry House

My aunt has been at Chantry House for 3 years now. When she first arrived she was very distressed and her behaviour as a result of her mental health needs was very challenging. The staff at Chantry House have been consistently patient and kind, seeking to understand her and she is much calmer now. It is very reassuring to know that she is well cared for and the home has a very warm and positive atmosphere. There have been some lovely birthday celebrations recently for residents and my aunt has enjoyed the music activities.

We are extremely happy with the care our dad receives. The staff are always kind, friendly, compassionate and treat him with genuine respect and dignity. They go above and beyond to make sure he is comfortable, safe and well looked after, and nothing ever seems too much trouble. Communication with the family is excellent, and it's reassuring to know he is in such caring hands. We can't thank the team enough for everything they do and would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for outstanding care.

My mother has been here for 3 years now and the care she has received from day one has been excellent. Her care needs have changed a lot since arriving here, she was very vocal, always walking but her mobility is not very good now and she's not vocal hardly at all now. Before arriving at Chantry my mum was refusing her medication and refusing to wash and was very aggressive. Within a few days of arriving she was taking her medication and was letting the carers shower her.

I can't fault the home at all, they keep me informed and update of everything that is happening with my mum.

My wife suffers from Alzheimer's and is very difficult to manage. After a disastrous 13-day stay at a previous Care Home she moved to Chantry House in Saxmundham, where she is being looked after with exceptional love and care. Despite her difficulties the Care Home has taken all this in their stride from the Manager down to the cleaners there has been nothing but kindness and understanding shown towards her. Although I find it difficult to come to terms with her developing Alzheimer's, I know that she is in an excellent setting where her complex needs can be met. I can not praise the staff enough for how they gentle manage her needs, they are not flustered by her aggressive moods, nor when she is agitated, they take it all in their stride. Thank you so much for all that you do, I am internally grateful to you for your kindness and compassion you have shown and continue to show towards my wife. Your Home thoroughly warrants a five star rating.

My husband can really be challenging at times, but staff and carers including the nurses know his needs very well. I can honestly say that I am more than happy for him to be in there care with no issues at all. He's been there 3 years now and he seems to be settled most of the time, but he does have his moments which is only to be expected.

My Mother was a resident at Chantry House for 2 years until her passing earlier this month.

During her stay at the care home, we were really impressed by both the care staff and the management team. Everybody was very professional and extremely helpful and caring to my Mother and to the family and their communication was excellent. It is never easy to see a loved one decline and then pass away but the approach of the Chantry House team made the process much less painful and stressful. We would recommend this facility to anyone looking for care facilities.

Overall Experience

Our mother with Alzheimer's has been at Chantry House since June 2023 and we cannot rate it highly enough. The whole atmosphere is welcoming, homely, and relaxing, and staff are always on hand to ensure everyone is being looked after safely and respectfully. The management are very hands-on, know all their residents, and are very supportive of their staff. Previous homes viewed our mother as too challenging and she deteriorated rapidly at her last home. At Chantry this is not at all the case as she is being looked after by such caring, experienced people who treat her with the upmost respect and care: she is so much happier and everything about her life is so much better. Every time we visit we see plenty of staff engaging with the residents who are being allowed to live their lives as fully and independently as they can. Thank you.

My dad went into Chantry House on the 3rd of February 2023. He was very unwell due to cancer and his needs. I cannot thank all the staff so much for the utmost care and attention given to my dad and more to make him as comfortable as possible. I was kept informed at all times and was never too much trouble to talk on the telephone about his progress at all times. When visiting my dad, again nothing was too much trouble and knew full well that he was in good hands at all times, which made me more at ease. I recommend the staff and facilities of Chanrty House highly.

Review from Sarah B (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 July 2022 Submitted via Website

My review is based on experiences and expectations of my father being emergency placed at the care home due to his significant emerging health, care and support needs.
Initially, the move was very challenging in respect to provisions that I had expected to accommodate my father and communication difficulties due to Covid restrictions but this was handled effectively, efficiently and sensitively by staff within the home and my father soon settled and issues were resolved.

Interactions that I have witnessed between my father and staff have been very good. My father's health, physical and social needs are being addressed and met in accordance with his wishes, interests and abilities. Management is always very understanding and supportive. It’s a pleasure visiting my father, as his well-being has greatly improved through a difficult transition which wouldn’t have been possible without the support and understanding of staff who now attend and assist his 24-hour care.

Our dad has lived at Chantry House Care Home for over three years, the care he receives is excellent. As a family, we know Dad can be challenging due to his dementia which along with other conditions is progressive. Despite the challenges, the staff continue to look after him and clearly have his best interests at heart. They are kind, caring and treat him with dignity. It's lovely to see the interaction when we visit. Nothing is too much trouble and any health issues he has are dealt with proactively with appointments being made etc. and alternative ways of making him comfortable explored. The communication between us and the home is really good, we feel informed and included. We honestly can't thank the Chantry team enough for all they do for our dad.

My husband is less anxious since moving to Chantry House. Staff and

nurses identify his needs and notice quickly if he seems unwell. Staff are kind and gentle with the residents. They arranged a party for our 50th wedding anniversary which all the other residents could join in.

My mum was a resident at this home for a few years, suffering from Alzheimer's with dementia and under the new management the whole atmosphere of the home has changed in such a positive way, the staff are very welcoming and friendly and always helpful, whenever I had to contact the home it was never too much trouble to give me an update on my mum's state of health at the time.

The new manager's way of management and her changes that have been made is an absolute fresh breath through the whole home and has made all the residents' lives so much brighter and I know that my mum's care under the new manager and her staff was the best that could be.

The most efficient, caring, loving home Mum has been in. Turned her round after a very bad year in another home.

Always answer my queries, the phone, and nothing ever too much trouble for any of the staff. Feel reassured Mum is in a caring home.
