Field House opened in 2002. It is a modern home which has a purpose-built building. Located on a residential road in Horfield, this home is situated in a quiet location, but with close proximity to the local amenities.

There are 55 individual rooms – each is beautifully decorated with Laura Ashley wallpaper for a homely finish. All rooms come with their own state-of-the-art en-suite, and access to communal lounges and dining areas. The environment is light, bright and welcoming, including the wide corridors – and there’s also a tranquil garden and sun-trap courtyard for you to enjoy.

There is a stimulating and varied activities programme including gardening, music or day-tripping.

In August 2020 Field House opened a new section of re-purposed rooms to support residents with advance and complex dementia, to create a space where staff are able to meet the individual needs of these residents in their own area.

Our first experience of a care home facility exceeded all of our expectations. Dad needed care after a hospital stay. The home itself is spotless, staff amazing, food all home cooked, onsite entertainment and outings all made Dad's care here wonderful. Residents looked after like family.

My mum was a resident at Field House for 4 years. She loved all of the staff and was very happy in the last years of her life. Mum was looked after with so much care and compassion not only by the nursing/care staff but by all of the staff. The family was also cared for by the home especially in the
last days. We were given food, drink and so much support. We will never forget Field House and all of its staff.
Reply from Alexandra Grozea, SEO and Marketing Manager at Field HouseThank you so much for your kind words. We're truly grateful to have cared for your mum and are glad she felt happy and supported during her time with us. It means a lot to know our Field House team could be there for your family as well.

My 91-year-old sister has been at Field House for sixteen months and has been cared for brilliantly and consistently, despite advancing dementia. The staff and management are professional, but caring, and do what their publicity says - they put the residents first. A well-run home. I recommend it to
others.

The staff at Field House, from the management, nursing and care staff to the maintenance, cleaning and kitchen staff, all are a credit to the business. Time is taken to know their residents in their care. Sometimes when possible, an outing will be arranged for individuals to bring specific pleasure
from an interest or place they remember. I'm more than happy with the care provided.

My aunt has stayed at Field House Care Home for just over a year. All staff are very accommodating and see to the welfare of her in a caring compassionate manner. The nursing staff have been excellent in ensuring she is well looked after.
The food is cooked in the home which is good and cleanliness
is a priority.
Their staff are welcoming supportive and friendly and I would recommend the Care Home as it has been marvellous.

My mum stayed here, started with mum not feeling too well and finished much better. The nurse worked great with the Doctors to achieve this and the care staff were so professional kind, patient, caring and safety conscious. There was also entertainment which kept mum's spirits up, that team was great.
The office staff were lovely helpful and kind. Mum became comfortable here and sad to leave. So very grateful to all the staff. A great team.

My Mum went to Field House for an assessment after surgery following a bad fall. She had always been independent and was uncertain how she would cope in a nursing environment. The staff from the carers to the laundry ladies were so kind that Mum felt at home almost immediately. Nothing was too much
trouble. The food was very good (especially the puddings) and everything was cooked on the premises. I would like to thank everyone for their kindness. I would have no hesitation in recommending Field House.

After spells in the hospital/rehab centre, my mum went to live at Field House on 14/9/23, where she stayed until passing away peacefully in her sleep on 10/10/23.
The reality was that Mum was not going to get better, so it was a question of managing the situation as best as possible. This was achieved
by the outstanding care she received from all the staff/management of Field House. Nothing was too much trouble despite the high level of care needed by Mum. The quality of care and the love and affection by which it was delivered were both a great source of strength and comfort to her family.
In recognition of this, Mum's family have decided that donations in memory of Mum should go to Field House Care Home.

My husband moved into Field House from the hospital in September 2021 being expected to live only a few weeks. He eventually passed away August 2023 almost two years later. His prolonged life was almost entirely due to the wonderful care he received at Field House. I cannot praise the staff too highly
for their dedication, nursing expertise, standards of food and cleanliness, and arranged activities, all carried out with kindness and concern for the residents. It didn't stop there. Visitors were always welcomed and invited to engage with staff. I certainly recommend Field House to anyone needing a home for any loved ones.

The care and attention given at Field House Care Home was exemplary. Rooms are comfortable, nicely furnished with a TV in each one. The management and staff were very kind, considerate and built up an excellent rapport with the people they tended. Laundry facilities are provided. Activities were given
for residents to join in. Little trips out plus entertainment. The food was excellent with many drinks provided during the day. Bearing this in mind, I would highly recommend Field House.

Recently I have made a number of visits to Field House care home, to see my brother. I was impressed with the standard of care and kindness that he received. The care staff were respectful and always did their best for him at such a difficult time.

It is difficult to accurately score all of the qualities of the care home, but my sister has always appeared to be settled, comfortable and well looked after. I have met a range of staff with different responsibilities and have found them all to be caring and thoughtful people. My sister feels "at home"
in Field House, and I feel she is in good hands when I leave. It would be lovely if the windows came down to the floor so that she could appreciate the view more easily.

My sister was transferred to Field House from the hospital on the 9th of November for assessment following a stroke at the beginning of August. Sadly she died on Sunday 20th of November. Although she was only a resident for just over a week, the care that she received from everyone was above and beyond
what we could have expected. All the staff who looked after her were brilliant. Really kind and respectful. They made my sister's last days as comfortable as they could, and they looked after the family as well. I send my love and thanks to them all.

My father has spent the last four months being moved around in hospital. It was such a relief to find a care home that felt like home. A place where my father is treated with dignity and care. Outstanding support, compassion, care, and management. Lots of activities are shared in a monthly newsletter
format, and distributed to families and residents so that they can choose suitable activities that interest them. For once I do not have to worry about my dad.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.679)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.679) out of 10 for Field House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.879 for Field House is calculated as follows: ( (126 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 140 Ratings = 4.879
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Field House is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nurse manager Joined: 2007

I started my career in nursing 41 years ago, in 1982, as a Nursing Assistant in Hortham Hospital, for people with learning disability. I started my nurse training in 1985 and I have worked in various clinical settings since qualifying as a nurse.

I first started as a Registered Nurse Manager in 1993 in a nursing home working for Southmead Health Authority. Later on, I worked at Brandon Trust in various managerial roles for people with learning disability. I then worked in the private sector in elderly care.

After a short break, I commenced my career with Bristol Care Homes in 2017 at Field House as a Carer. I have worked in various roles within Field House becoming a Registered Nurse Manager in September 2018. I enjoy working for Bristol Care Homes as I like the values and philosophy of the organisation. They value the staff and strive for positive outcomes for the residents who live within the homes.

I am dedicated and passionate about my role and enjoy working with both staff and residents.

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my granddaughter, looking after my dogs, and travelling to various destinations.

Hello! I’m Holly, Deputy Nurse Manager here at Field House. Caring for others has always been part of who I am - my mum even wrote in my baby book that I’d grow up to be a nurse!

I began my journey in care in 2003 at 18 as a bank care assistant and worked my way up through senior roles before qualifying as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2021. My passion for mental health care is deeply personal, and I’m dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for every resident.

At Field House, I oversee well-being, manage care plans, and make sure daily life runs smoothly. I love getting to know our residents and helping them feel truly at home.

Fun fact: I was named after the musician Buddy Holly, so music has always been a big part of my life!

I look forward to welcoming you and making your time with us as comfortable and fulfilling as possible.

I’ve been working at Bristol Care Homes since 2017.

Bristol Care Homes is a great organisation to work for because they value their staff just as much as they value their residents, and their vision is something I am very passionate about. Having grandparents on both sides affected by dementia, I have the greatest empathy for the elderly and those who are living with it.

I want to make a difference in the lives of the residents by taking a holistic approach and providing relevant activities. Important and meaningful.

Within this company, there are excellent training opportunities for development and growth; in my case, I progressed from Activities Co-ordinator to Social Engagement and Well-being Manager in three years, something I am very proud of.

I enjoy spending time with my family away from work. I like singing, dancing, and taking my dogs for walks. Knowing how valuable life is, I like to live it to the fullest.
