Alice House is situated on the quiet Weston hillside close to town and overlooking Grove Park, offering specialist dementia care in a small home environment. The intention is to ensure that wherever possible all residents enjoy normal life experiences and freedom.

In 2016 the home was transformed offering a traditional environment within a very practical dementia specific layout and a very large, safe, accessible garden area

Residents are free to walk around the home and independently access the safe gardens at any time, which lead directly from all the ground floor sitting areas. The gardens are used whenever possible for walks, meals, gardening or to just enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.

Fig Tree Dementia Care has its own specialist mini bus which is in constant use for outings, in all weathers.

Most importantly, the numerous sitting/dining areas have been carefully designed to cater for small groups of only five or six people.

Level access to all areas of the home is achieved using two modern passenger lifts.

My father hasn't been there very long and has come from London. It has taken him a while to settle in but he's definitely getting there. He likes to help out with washing up etc., I like how they encourage the service users to participate in day-to-day activities to help with keeping their independence.
Staff
have been so helpful and kind, they have taken the time to get to know my father and his needs. He has already made friends with other service users and the staff.
We knew, as a family, that this was the place for him and could cater for his needs, couldn't have wished for a better place for him to be.
They have activities, dancing, parties, singers in and a minibus to go out which my father looks forward to.

I've been impressed by the compassion, commitment and professionalism of the staff - they are exceptional - two, in particular, have stood out for me, but all the staff have been excellent. The home is well organised. It's closed to visitors during meal times when staff help people like my mother -
endorse this approach 100%. The gardens are nice. Rooms are nice. Entertainment and engagement are good.

My uncle is always happy when I visit and always looks immaculate. The staff are always friendly and willing to help. This is a difficult time for him and us, his immediate family. At 94 his dementia is quite bad but Alice House and its staff are making it an excellent experience and one we very much
appreciate. Thanks to you all.

Alice House provides a caring, homely and welcoming environment. My father's needs are well met by the kind and professional staff, many of whom go above and beyond to ensure he is looked after. The environment is scrupulously clean, and the gardens are lovely. My father's room is immaculate, as is
his bathroom. I really have only positive comments for the wonderful staff and care he is receiving, and feel very happy that he is being looked after so well.

Our mum has been living at Alice House for over a year and we are really pleased with the care and attention she receives. All of the care staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them. They take the time to understand all of the residents as individuals and treat them with kindness,
compassion, and dignity. They really do care and seem to go above and beyond. Thank you!

Mum has been living at Alice House for a year now and calls it home, the staff who she adores are everything you could wish for when you need someone to take care of your loved one, trained in Dementia Care, calming, caring, attentive, fun, respectful and compassionate. Importantly there is a happy
atmosphere in the house, Mum particularly enjoys the live singing and a dance with her friends. The meals are lovely, freshly prepared and fulfilling, Mum still has a hearty appetite and we know she enjoys her food at Alice House. They also allow dogs into the home on visits which is great, it's lovely to see Mum enjoy a cuddle and play with our furry family. All in all Alice House is a caring happy home where the residents are respected and looked after to a high standard, I am more than happy to recommend it.

My wife has been a resident at Alice House for just over a year. The support for my wife and myself has been of a very high standard. Covid has "rocked the boat" however, good planning has ensured no cases at Alice House. Staff is a challenge in this sector of care to maintain standards as has been
the case is commendable.

My mother has been a resident since September and she is receiving fabulous care. She adores all the staff and she enjoys the activities, including singing, dancing, baking and going on walks and trips. I can't recommend Alice House highly enough! I am even permitted to bring our family dog in to visit
her and everyone loves her!

The management kept me up to date all the time with what was happening with my mother and
the care staff are a credit to Alice House nothing was too much trouble and management and care staff always went above and beyond especially when my Mother became more frail and in her last few days the compassion shown to myself and siblings was excellent myself and them cannot thank Alice House enough.

I don't think my friend could have better care from every angle. There is always prompt attention to any health issues as and when. They occur and she is treated with great kindness, respect and dignity.

The staff are all very pleasant, attentive and my friend says nothing is too much trouble for

them. We live 140 miles away but have great confidence that we will be informed of any chance. The manager is excellent and my friend is very fond of her.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.188)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.188) out of 10 for Alice House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Alice House is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.438 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alice House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.313
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
