Staff are amazing and have bent over backwards to support and care for Mum. She always looks immaculate. Her room is clean, cozy and so welcoming as is Beech House as a whole. So glad we, as a family, made this decision to move Mum is a safe loving, caring and very supportive home. Thank you everyone who works here.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We're delighted to hear that your mum's move to Beech House was such a positive experience and that she has received such a warm welcome. It's lovely to know that she feels supported, cared for, and at home with us. Your kind words about our team, the home...
Our mother has been a resident at Beech House for 10 years. During those years we have nothing but praise for all the love and care she was shown, especially during her last days when she sadly passed. We received so much support during an emotional time and the family will be forever grateful to Beech House.
Thank you for your touching review. We feel truly privileged to have cared for your mother and are so grateful for your kind words. It means a great deal to know that both your mother and your family felt supported, especially during her final days. Your appreciation will be shared with the whole team at Beech House.
We have found in the ten years my mum was a resident at Beech House, to be excellent! The care and support given from everyone who works here has been friendly and helpful. The carers have shown us so much kindness, both our mum and ourselves. I call them 'Angels'. I cannot state in enough words how highly I think of everyone!
Thank you for your wonderful review. We feel truly honoured to have cared for your mum over the past ten years, and your kind words mean so much to our whole team. It's especially meaningful to hear how supported both your mum and your family felt - being called "Angels" is such a heartfelt compliment, thank you from everyone at Beech House.
Wow What an outstanding Care Home. From first contact through to final farewell we were made to feel welcome, comfortable and confident that my father would receive first class care. My father moved into the Home, direct from hospital, to receive palliative care but sadly passed away after 4 days. From the moment he arrived he was welcomed and made feel at home. All staff introduced themselves to him and to me as his daughter, carefully explaining how his care would be delivered and by whom. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. My father, who was a very fussy eater, couldn't speak highly enough of the food he was served. The chef even prepared meals, off menu, for my dad when the menu didn't suit him
Thank you to all the management and staff for the fantastic care you took of my dad. Your care and friendliness made his final few days as good as they could have been
Thank you for your heartfelt review. We are truly honoured to have cared for your father during such a difficult time, and we're so pleased that he was made to feel comfortable and well cared for from the moment he arrived. It means so much to know our Beech House team could support both him and your family, and your kind words are deeply appreciated by us all.
Mum's care was always offered with genuine kindness from the staff at Beech House. They were always on hand to update all of the family on how she was doing and supported us all, including her grandchildren, in her dementia journey. This is a professional team, who genuinely do care for those they tend to.
It was a daunting decision, deciding to place Mum into the care of others, but we couldn't be happier with our experience. A truly warm place, with activities to be involved with if you wish, and trips out, socially it was much better than she had living alone. Many thanks to you all.
Thank you for such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We know how difficult the decision can be, and we're so pleased to hear that your mum received such kind and compassionate care during her time with us. It means a great deal that you felt supported as a family throughout her journey. Your...
I arrived very ill, straight from hospital and was nursed to passing fair health by a dedicated team to whom I will be forever thankful. My illness, terminal bowel cancer. Beech House Care Home staff provide the very best of care for a selection of people with end of life requirements. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. We are truly honoured to have cared for you during such a difficult time, and it means so much to know that our team provided comfort, dignity and support when it was needed most. Your kind words are greatly appreciated by all of us at Beech House.
We visit whenever we can and have always found the staff to be brilliant with the residents. We (wife and myself) visit my best man (1962) who has dementia and wants for nothing. In himself he is extremely well, just his perception has gone but the staff recognise this and cater fully for his needs. Cannot comment on a few of the options as have no experience of them but very happy to recommend
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It's wonderful to hear that your best man is so well cared for and that our Beech House team supports him with understanding and kindness. We truly appreciate your visits and your recommendation - it means a great deal to all of us.
We feel very welcome when we come to Beech House and are always included in whats going on. The lovely staff create a happy atmosphere and take good regard of everyones needs. Mum has said herself how good and caring the people are here.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased to hear you feel welcome at Beech House and that your mum is happy with the care she receives. Our team truly values creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere, and your kind words mean a great deal to us.
My extremely frail stepmother moved into Beech House in August 2024. On admission a full GP health assessment considered her life expectancy to be weeks rather than months. Then a new regime started which triggered her amazing recovery. Over the first weeks instead of weakening she gained strength (probably due to discovering very tasty food, which in itself was a reason for her not giving in!) I cannot praise enough the care that followed over the whole period of her tenure. Even when dementia demons made her difficult I was assured that she would still be welcome to stay through to the end of her life, which was a tremendous relief to us all. She died in December 2025 in her bed, peacefully with family alongside, over 16 months after the initial 3 week prognosis. Beech House is a wonderful place. The whole team, led by the Manager alongside the incredible nursing staff can all be trusted to give fantastic care to your loved one, even to the end of their life.
Thank you so much for sharing this incredibly touching story. We are truly sorry for your loss, and deeply grateful for your kind words about the care your stepmother received. It means so much to the whole team at Beech House to know we were able to bring comfort, strength, and dignity to her final months. Your trust in us is sincerely appreciated.
The care staff are a valuable asset to the successful management of the facility which is maintained to a very high standard. I doubt you could find a better place to entrust loved ones for care.
Thank you for sharing such thoughtful and generous feedback. We are truly grateful for your trust over the years and deeply appreciate your recognition of our team and standards of care. Your words mean a great deal to all of us at Beech House.
You made the last few weeks of her life a happy and lovely experience.
Secondly I must commend your whole team - carers, nurses, chefs, laundry team, physio, maintenance team, receptionist, helpers etc what a team caring, emphatic, knowledgable and professionally competent. Words cannot express how reassured we were that mum was in your care.
When she was taken ill, the nursing team were phenomenal. The paramedic did comment to me how good the night nurse was.
The nursing team, on Friday, were so amazing. They ensured Mum was not only medically supported, they showed care and love in the way they treated Mum. The whole team are amazing and the level of care shown to both my parents was the best you could ever wish.
Thank you so much for sharing these heartfelt words. We are truly sorry for your loss and deeply grateful that we could provide comfort and care during such an important time. Your praise for our Beech House team means the world to us - they will be touched to know their efforts made a difference. Sending you and your family our warmest wishes.
I would recommend this care home to anyone.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased to hear you felt supported and that your family member was well cared for. Your kind words mean a lot to our whole team.
I visit my wife each day, I was conserned how she would find being a patient in a care home after being sixty plus year in are own home. But due to her illness she requires constant attension, We were pleasantley surprised in the clenleness and tidyness, the care my wife received, all the staff were so careing, helpfull, constantley checking and asking if there was anything needed or required, my wife has quickly settle in, with what time she has left.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear your wife has settled in well and that our team's care and support has given you peace of mind.
The home was friendly & welcoming. My sister felt very relaxed and comfortable during her stay. The food was excellent & the chefs very accomodating to different diets.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're delighted your sister felt relaxed and comfortable, and we'll be sure to pass your praise on to our chefs.
Beech House is like a 5 start hotel, the carers are very kind, caring and always friendly. The food is excellent and the Chef will make you something different from the menu, if there's something on the weekly menu that you cannot eat, I went in for 2 weeks respite after a total knee replacement, and came out fully rested and walking the home on my walker. I have nothing but praise for everyone in Beech House made me feel at home, and I was sorry to leave after my 2 weeks were up. Thank you Beech House.
Thank you for your lovely words. We're so pleased you felt at home, well cared for, and supported in your recovery. Your praise means a lot to our team, and we'll always be happy to welcome you back.
We know soon we will loose her but we know she will be cared loved and looked with dignity till sadly she leaves us .
The support the team have given us as a family is very special cannot thank them enough
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We're truly touched by your kind words and so glad to know that Beech House has made such a positive difference for your father-in-law and that we could support your family during such an emotional time. It's a privilege to care for both of them and to help keep them close. Your trust means the world to us.
Dad stayed at Beech House for 6 weeks respite following a serious fall. We felt nursing care would be beneficial for his recovery. We have been blown away by the care, love, professionalism and compassion shown by all staff. Dad said he felt he was part of a big caring family and this was just what he needed. He is now considering permanent care based on his experience and we couldn't be happier that the decision will be his.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We're thrilled to hear your dad felt so supported and part of a caring family during his stay at Beech House. It means the world to our team to know their care made such a difference.
My Mum went into Beech House with a diagnosis of frontal temporal dementia last July (2023). The manager & staff were all very kind and welcoming and Mum settled in straight away. She died in March 2025, having had a settled, calm but fun time. The staff encouraged her to join in all the activities (every day there is something if the residents wish) & showed immense care as her health declined suddenly. The staff could not have been better or more supportive to both us and my Mum.
Thank you for your kind words. It was an honour to care for your mum - she'll be fondly remembered by all of us at Beech House. We're so glad she felt at home here.
Dad was so well cared for and all his complex needs were considered. The staff were so kind, and thoughtful and knew Dad so well. He always said how good it was in Beech House and we know he felt safe, secure and content there. He really enjoyed the activities and exercises. A huge thankyou to all the staff.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your dad felt safe, cared for, and happy at Beech House. It means a lot to our team to know that his needs were met with kindness and thoughtfulness. We truly appreciate your support and will pass your lovely feedback on to our staff.
My mother-in-law was initially a resident of Beech House Care Home from May 2023 and then her husband from the October. The care, support and understanding were exceptional. Staff always available for communication and advise with sometimes very difficult circumstances. The care of the residents is always paramount.
We are happy to hear that you found the care your mother-in-law received at Beech House in Thornbury exceptional. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review.

Meet the Team (9)

My name is Lucy Bolland, and I am the Nurse Manager at Beech House. I have worked for the company since 2013 and worked across three Bristol Care Homes houses, working as a nurse as well as a Deputy.
My nursing career started in the NHS, where I gained experience nursing on surgical wards as well as in women’s health. I then moved into care home nursing as this fitted around life with a young family.
Bristol Care Homes has given me many opportunities to develop my career while working in different environments, each with their challenges and rewards. As a company, I have always felt supported in my roles, and I particularly enjoy working with a dedicated team of staff.
My role involves working with an amazing team, and no two days are the same, which provides variety and keeps my job interesting while also always having the opportunity to learn and develop. Meeting new people and supporting residents and their families is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
I live in the local area with my family and enjoy spending time with them and travelling in my spare time.

My career began back in the 1990s working in a community home as a support worker with clients with learning disabilities. This inspired me to undertake my Nurse training which I completed in Taunton. I have experience within the NHS for over 20 years including theatres, recovery, and ITU. I have also completed training as an anaesthetic practitioner. 2019 led me to a change of direction in elderly care. Since then I have worked up to the role of Deputy Manager I am currently undertaking my Level 5 in Leadership to enhance my knowledge and skills.
Outside of work, my hobbies include walking (I try to walk around 3-5 miles daily and this has all part of a health plan). I have recently begun running but after a clumsy moment and a fall, I am taking a break. I also enjoy playing Lawn Bowls in the summer and Skittles in the winter.
I love to travel whether abroad or in the UK and I like to plan in advance so I have trips to look forward to.

I’m Luke, the Operations Manager for Beech House. My role is here to make sure that the homes are well-maintained, and the environments are kept in the best condition possible. I’ve worked for Bristol Care Homes since 2020. I particularly enjoy the variety in my job role, especially across the 2 homes. It keeps me busy, and I get to meet a lot of different residents and relatives.
Outside of work, my passion is football. Between playing, coaching, and watching, it doesn’t leave me time for much else.

I’ve been working at Bristol Care Homes since 2017.
Bristol Care Homes is a great organisation to work for because they value their staff just as much as they value their residents, and their vision is something I am very passionate about. Having grandparents on both sides affected by dementia, I have the greatest empathy for the elderly and those who are living with it.
I want to make a difference in the lives of the residents by taking a holistic approach and providing relevant activities. Important and meaningful.
Within this company, there are excellent training opportunities for development and growth; in my case, I progressed from Activities Co-ordinator to Social Engagement and Well-being Manager in three years, something I am very proud of.
I enjoy spending time with my family away from work. I like singing, dancing, and taking my dogs for walks. Knowing how valuable life is, I like to live it to the fullest.

I’ve worked for Bristol Care Homes since 2021, and before that, I worked in housing and for the local authority. This background has enabled me to see ‘the whole picture’ and provides valuable skills that I utilise when families have funding queries.
Dealing with the local authority can be challenging, and I make it my mission to simplify the process for residents and provide an intermediary for them. I am passionate about improving the services within adult social care and share wholeheartedly the holistic approach which Bristol Care Home values.
When I’m not working, you will often find me hiking up a mountain as I love the tranquillity of the great outdoors. I have adult children, so I’m enjoying the peace and quiet before grandchildren come along!

I’m thrilled to introduce myself as your Care Quality Manager, a role I’ve embraced with great enthusiasm here at Bristol Care Homes. Since joining the family in 2018, it’s been my privilege to work across our group of four homes, ensuring that the care we provide not only meets but exceeds the highest standards.
My journey in the healthcare sector has been both rewarding and diverse. As a registered nurse, I’ve had the opportunity to directly impact the lives of those in need, offering care and support at a personal level. This hands-on experience has been invaluable, teaching me the intricacies of patient care and the importance of compassion in our daily interactions.
In addition to my nursing background, I’ve also had the pleasure of educating the next generation of healthcare professionals as a health and social care teacher. This role allowed me to share my knowledge and passion for care, shaping the future of our industry.
As your Care Quality Manager, my mission is to ensure the quality of care you receive is nothing short of exceptional. I’m dedicated to monitoring our services, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes that enhance your experience and well-being. My goal is to make sure that every resident feels valued, cared for, and happy.
Your feedback is incredibly important to me. It helps us grow and improve, ensuring that Bristol Care Homes remains a place where excellence in care is not just an aspiration, but a reality. I look forward to continuing our journey together, making each day better than the last.

With a background as a specialist neuro-physio, I am passionate about maintaining and improving the quality of life of our residents.
My role within Bristol Care Homes covers all aspects of our residents' lives, from activities of daily living to days away from the home. If required, I assess and advise on the optimal equipment to be used for daily transfers, where, along with the carers, we are always looking to maintain movement and independence as much as possible. In addition to this, I work with the activities coordinator to encourage their sessions within the homes to adapt to a resident’s particular needs. For example, encouraging the use of a particular hand when doing arts and crafts. If specialist seating or a wheelchair is required, I am able to advise and ensure that the correct equipment is provided, subsequently promoting participation in activities within and outside of the home.
Alongside this, I am contributing to the moving and handling training programme of our care staff in order to combine all the existing moving and handling guidelines with promoting optimal ergonomics for our residents. Should residents want to make use of an external physiotherapist arranged privately, in order to have frequent exercise sessions, I can oversee this programme and ensure any advice is integrated into the rest of their daily activities, as well as, where possible, arrange to meet the visiting physio and collaborate with them and our resident.
One of my main aims is to encourage the little and often approach; understanding how small changes in movement day to day can lead to tangible improvements in quality of life.

I have worked at Beech House since 2015 and lived in Bristol all my life.
I started life at Beech House as a carer, then quickly progressed to a senior carer. After suffering from long COVID in 2020, I started helping in the office and now work permanently as the friendly admin assistant. This hasn’t stopped me from enjoying meeting and chatting with the residents and their families, which is something I really love about my job.
Outside work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, walking in the countryside and curling up with a good book and a glass of gin.

Enock leads our sustainability strategy at Bristol Care Homes, ensuring we deliver on our environmental, social, and economic commitments.
